Had a root canal done and Dr. Matthew Mauger was very gentle when administrating the shots of novacan. He answered all my questions with respect. The rest of the staff were exceptional, from the receptionist to the hygienist. I'm sorry I don't remember their names. I would recommend them to anyone in need of dental care.

While going to the dentist is not on my top 50 things to do....I’m so thankful that there are dentist and it makes it so much easier when the office staff are helpful, and knowledgeable. I’ve always had bad dental anxiety. The folks put me at ease, listened, and took care of me.

I can’t say enough good things about my emergency appointment with Dr. M. I was in an extreme amount of pain and they kindly squeezed me in at the last minute. The receptionist was kind and helpful, as was the dental assistant. Dr. M put me at ease, did a difficult procedure quickly and gently, and made sure I was comfortable. The office was clean and welcoming, too. All in all, my visit was a bright spot in an incredibly hard day. Thank you for helping me out! Five gold stars to everyone. Edited to add that I had to have two more root canals done two months after my initial review and I was so thankful that Dr. Mauger and his assistant were so gentle and able to get them both done in a surprisingly fast amount of time. If you’re going to have a root canal, this is the place to go.

The staff is very friendly, they make sure you have all the info you need and make sure you are comfortable with everything they went over. I had sedation with my procedure and they did everything to make sure I was as comfortable as I could be during the whole procedure.

We had a great experience. My son had a tooth that needed a root canal. Dr. Mauger and his staff took great care of us and my son is very happy to be free from tooth pain again! Thanks!

My whole experience there was amazing & I used to work for a dental clinic. They were able to get me in quick for my consult/treatment. Ms. Teresa was able to help me get checked in and explain very well about my OOP expense and always kept me in the loop of what insurance will cover. Dr. Matthew Mauger was able to help and explain what’s going on with my tooth. The plus & the negative that can/may happen. Also, best part is he was able to do my molar RCT in just about 30 mins!! Which is amazing!! When they say they refer you to a specialist, he sure is one! Definitely recommend 100%! If I need a RCT done again, i would def come back! (Lets hope I dont though!)

I walked in expecting to make an appointment and they accommodated me, even though they had scheduled patients. I was able to get diagnostic imaging and procedure done right away. I was amazed that I did not feel any pain throughout procedure. Everyone was so kind and professional, I would highly recommend for any endodontic needs you might have!

Everyone at Pacific we’re kind, positive, confident, and caring. The office was very clean and followed strict protocols for covid. Dr. Barney was thorough, took time to listen to my concerns, and made me feel at ease with my surgery.

The staff at the Alaska Endodontics Specialists were all very kind, helpful, knowledgeable, and professional. After a quick scan Dr. Mauger gave me all the options that he thought would be best for my tooth in pain and I decided to go with the root canal option as he thought it would be best. They were able to help me right away and despite having a very negative experience with a root canal at another endodontist in the past, I was not in pain or uncomfortable at all. He talked me through what each sound was in my mouth and I felt at ease shortly after they began the procedure.

The entire experience was great. I called with concerns about tooth pain and was offered a same day appointment. I did not need a referral. The receptionist was patient and knowledgeable and scheduled me quickly. When I got the the office, everyone was professional and kind. They were running right on time and I was back with Dr. Matt right away. He was gentle and thorough with me and took an hour for a thorough exam. They had time held for a procedure that day should I need one, and although I didn’t I really appreciate the fact that I would have left with the problem resolved and questions answered either way. Dr. Matt was just great, the clinic was wonderful, and I would recommend them to anyone.

So I went in and had to get a pretty difficult procedure done, could have turned into a actual surgery. I have severe anxiety when it comes to dentistry from the past, luckily for me all stages of my visit was very easy and comforting. The receptionist was very nice and understanding with my situation. Dr. Micheal M. & his assistant were very kind and informative. I haven’t had such a intense (for myself) procedure be so easy and quick . Also successful. I will definitely go back to them when I have an issue that my dentist can’t resolve, they truly are specialists.

From the initial call, visit and departure I am very impressed with the detail of care that was provided here. I will definitely be back should the need arise! Highly recommend!

Hands down the best and most professional place I’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting. I was there for a root canal. The staff there is courteous and extremely professional (which became apparent almost immediately). My endodontist, Dr. Matthew Mauger, was very pleasant, clear in his explanations, and constantly making sure I wasn’t in any pain. He was insightful, genuinely nice, and attentive the entire time. Despite the fact that I was there for a root canal, my experience was off-the-charts good. In fact, it was so good that when I left I wasn’t even thinking about the root canal, but instead about how smooth and professional the entire visit was from the moment I walked in to when I left. By comparison, I went to a different place located in South Anchorage over the summer and frankly it was somewhat of a nightmare. However, in the spirit of keeping this review positive I won’t go into detail about the other place, but suffice it to say I will never go there again. Alaska Endodontic Specialists is the place to go. I normally don’t write online reviews, but honestly this time I felt it would be a disservice not only to the good people who work there, but also to my community. I learned first-hand that even in the case of the dreaded ‘root canal,’ an exemplary staff and a pleasant endodontist who’s very good at his job makes all the difference in the world. Would I recommend this place to my own mother? Absolutely!

I highly recommend Dr. mike Mauger. I recently went to him for what might have been a difficult procedure. Before we started he was very up-from about what the outcome might be. After studying the x-rays he was confident this would work. He was understanding of my health issues and did his best to insure my comfort. His work was efficient, painless and successful! His staff was pleasant and caring. Should I need another root canal, Alaska Endodontics Specialists will be my choice.

DO NOT go to Alaska Endodontics. They certainly don’t care about their patients but rather making money instead! I had a miserable experience getting a root canal. I was being trained on like a guinea pig by the dental assistant. She seemed like she was brand brand new. Her and the dentist kept conversing with eachother about all the worst possible scenarios that could happen to my mouth literally during the entire surgery. I was so traumatized and was near a panic attack throughout the entire procedure. To make things worse, after the procedure I was charged more than quoted before the procedure. I requested to the office manager that I have my remaining balance waived because I was used to be trained on but they weren’t willing to do anything about it and didn’t seem to care, and instead threatened to send the balance to collections. 0 out of 5 stars.

I saw Doctor Mauger for a root canal procedure in August 2020. I had some initial discomfort from the injections he used to numb the affected area. Aside from that discomfort I felt absolutely no pain during the procedure or during the hours after he had finished. Three days hence I am still completely pain free. I have had other root canals and have always had pain or soreness afterward. So happy with my experience at Alaska Endodontic Specialists and in particular, Dr. Mauger. Would absolutely recommend this Endodontic group!

Very friendly and professional staff. Dr. Michael Mauger did a great job performing a root canal on a molar. Although a root canal is never desirable, it was the best experience I’ve ever had having this procedure. Dr. Mauger’s light-hearted and humorous nature creates a comfortable atmosphere.

Sadly, I have had to have many root canals in my life. ? Alaska Endodontic Specialists was by far the most professional establishment I’ve been to. I also seem to have very interesting teeth anatomy that requires creative work. Today’s procedure was by far the most detail oriented and yet I have almost no pain in the process itself was essentially painless. Dr. Matthew Mauger kept me completely informed on all of our options as well as the process that was going to be involved. He did a spectacular job dealing with roots in a tooth that resembled more of a street map for Grandtheft auto as opposed to a normal root in a tooth. I highly suggest this group for all your exciting dental adventures!!

Set up of root canal appointment was quick with great instruction and follow up. The staff there makes everything easy and comfortable. Office is conveniently located. I felt the numbing shot was rushed and painful. It could have been administered more slowly and with mire juggles to ease the impact. I came off the chair and I have a pretty high tolerance. Wasn’t expecting a cake walk but this a little more than I bargained for. That being said the Dr. Matt made sure I was numb and did a great job from there on out. He gave good after care instruction and 24 hours later am feeling great with only slight tenderness.

Staff was incredibly helpful and kind. They walked me through all of my options and the procedure really well so I knew what to expect. I was very comfortable and they made the procedure as easy and painless as I could it imagine it being. Wonderful experience.

First of all being new to the area my GPS kept sending me all over the place but the staff there got me to the doors. I apologized repeatedly but everyone was so kind. When I met with the doctor he discussed my symptoms with me, did some testing, an X-ray and after further conversation he sent me along. All three of the staff were so kind and professional. I was referred to AES from our family dentist for a dental emergency during Covid related travel restrictions. I was hurting from an infection, a bit rattled by a windy ride over 350 miles in an airtaxi, and not knowing if I would be able to keep the devil tooth. Staff welcomed me and put me at ease. Doctor Matt Mauger was kind and ready to help. The technical resources were amazing and Matt was able to see the "root" of the problem. Surgery was necessary. I've had lots of dental work done, am 61 years old, and was nervous. The procedure was painless and relief from the painful infection came quickly. Costs were reasonable. I paid a portion down and AES was willing to bill my insurance. I want to thank our dental heroes at AES. Would recommend for others without hesitation.

The office, medical staff, and dentists are very good @ what they do. Even though this is a place where one does not like to go, the clinic is as good as they come and did a great job on my three calcified roots and they were able to save my tooth. I had no pain or infection. Two thumbs up and thanks again!!

Great work & great staff. Have had the need for several family members to use this office, and each time has been pleasent scheduling, during the procedures, and with follow-up. I wish I could give them more than 5 stars.

Dr Mauger is fantastic! We had some crazy rare problems with our son's tooth and 3 Dr s later, we were finally refereed to Dr Mauger. I wish it had been or first stop! Though the procedure was largely "experimental" because of such an unusual condition, we've had no problems with it since the original work 8 years later. The staff is great and we liked him so much I went back to him for my root canal.

They worked me in for a quick, emergency root canal. They did an excellent job and it is a very friendly office!

Involvement with general pain and popping lymph nodes brought me to my primary care physician, a specialist, and a dentist, with no help whatsoever. I knew Dr. Harkacz could figure this out, I knew it! Because of his experience in getting the really bad cases, he has the ability to identify and fix what others can’t even identify. I've never experienced tooth pain. And hope to never have it again I was referred to Dr Jeppson. They gave me a next day appointment, took great care of me and my tooth. Root canal done and left with no pain. Thank you for the great service.

I needed a root canal. I was only in Anchorage for two weeks. They coordinated with my dentist's office and I was able to get the root canal and permanent filling done at the same time, January 2,2018. They were able to squeeze me in during my visit and I had minimal swelling afterward. By the next day I did not need any more ibuprofen and two days afterward I could eat vegetable tempura. Five days afterward I am able to eat steak.

My daughter who is very nervous at the dentist needed a root canal after trauma. Dr Harkacz made her comfortable, showed images of the problem, and we got her scheduled the following week. She decided against any sedation and did great!!! She now has repaired front teeth and looks beautiful. Thanks Dr Harkacz!

I got a root canal about a month ago, and I couldn't have been more happy. I guess not needing a root canal might have made me more happy, but you know what I mean. The office staff was extremely helpful and courteous, and Dr. Mauger was excellent. It was my first root canal, so I didn't really know what to expect. The procedure took probably half as long as I expected. There was no pain. He didn't try to ask me complicated questions while my mouth was stuck open (a dental pet peeve of mine). And the most important part of all: it was right. I couldn't drink even cool water for a month before I came in, and all pain and discomfort were gone. I've been telling all my friends (both of them) to go here, if they ever need a root canal.
