I appreciated how Dr. Nelson approached my issues but the billing department is HORRIBLE! I have called them at least 50 times and have never been called back. Extremely frustrating.

I have had a really pleasant experience with Dr. Kaz. He seems to really care and I have gotten good treatment. I have Chron's disease and he was very enthusiastic about getting me on a treatment and feeling better.

The provider was fine, but the billing department (of only 2 people )on the other hand decided it was not their job to do their job. I would hate to leave a low review without giving a solution to the problem - fire your current 2 people and hire non inept billing staff.

Reply from Alaska Digestive and Liver Disease Clinic
Dear Azureskies01: We agree that billing and insurance claims are very complicated and confusing for everyone involved. There is certainly a misunderstanding and we want to correct this issue but we have not been able to find you through your online handle of Azureskies01. Please contact the Alaska Digestive and Liver Disease practice manager so we can resolve the issue that you are having. We sincerely regret the conflict for which you have felt the need to address it publically through this forum. We look forward to hearing from you.

I felt compelled to publicly post my visits to Dr. Daryl M. McClendon site. My doctor referred me to his office to have a colonoscopy. From my first phone call to his office and subsequent video conferencing with Dr. McClendon did I realize that I had got the right Doctor. My interaction with his staff and him were amazing. For a person that is anxious and reluctant to go to doctors, they made me feel at ease. With the covid crisis I was a little worried, but given all the protocols he and his staff had in place made me feel very safe. My safety and security was their top priority. In addition his staff took great care to ensure everyones safety. I was totally impressed from A to Z. After my colonoscopy he had scheduled me for a Endoscopy. Again he and his staff performed in an outstanding manner. I couldn't have been more pleased. I know if I ever need a digestive and liver disease specialist I will only see Dr. McClendon or one of the Doctors that works with him at the Alaska Digestive and Liver Disease Clinic. You can tell he and his staff are true professionals who believe in good quality medical care. His staff at the Alaska Digestive and Liver Disease Clinic are outstanding. This site only allows me to post 5 gold stars. I would rate Dr. McClendon and his staff 10 gold stars. Do not hesitate to contact him or his staff you will be thankful you did.

Called office with symptoms of Pancreatitis. (Have had pancreatitis 40 times before, I know what's going on). Didn't get a referral for labs for 3 days, and after my labs proved that I did have something going on, the MRI was not ordered until a week after I first called for my symptoms. Then they made me drive to South Anchorage from the Valley to pick up a prescription with my name spelled wrong. It's a week and a half later, I am still in pain and sick AND they don't care! ???

My earlier post identified a scheduling issue that has arisen that resulted in an appointment being cancelled without me knowing. Subsequent post- Within a week the clinic had returned to me with a new proposed date for the procedure which resolved all of the issues listed above. They do a good job of the work they do, my big issue was just the timing. They listened to my issues with respect to that and were able to accommodate me before the year end, which I appreciated.

Went to this place after having stomach problems to have a blood test done. Two weeks went by, no call or anything about my test results, so I called them and they told me the doctor only calls people back if there’s a problem showing on test results, so unprofessional. Then the person on the phone said “I’ll send you a copy of stuff you shouldn’t eat.” This came in the mail as a black and white photocopy that I could barely read and had already received when I was at the office. Don’t waste your time or money on this place.

The eagle river office is terrible. The receptionists never returned our messages and always seemed confused. We would still be waiting on answers and what to do next if we didn't take it into our own hands. The whole process made me very angry.

If booking an appointment, don't book it through their online system. Apparently, this isn't "linked up" with their actual system, and there's no notice on the website describing this error. I had made an appointment through the online system, and it wasn't logged in the actual appointment system, so I called to confirm my timeslot and someone else had already taken it. Make sure you call to schedule.
