Best Periodontist in Spokane. I have been seeing Dr. Engen for over 2 yeqrs now. I just had gum grafting surgery yesterday, I was so nervous because I listened to other people's bad experiences (I will never listen to other people's bad experiences again) I am having very little pain. I can eat soft foods with no problem. If you need a Periodontist, please consider going to Sr. Engen's office.

My mother in law's had an unpleasant experience with the office staff and Dr. Engen. First, she had to wait in the lobby for over than 50 min. passing her appointment time. When she asked the front desk if she needs to reschedule, she was told that this is their lunch time. During the exam Dr. Engen was rude and impatient.

I was told by the billing person Starla that my insurance only covered $600. I called my insurance company and they told me that they were out of network providers. What Starla failed to tell me was that if I went to a in-network provider my coverage would be $1,500. I felt she should have informed me of this and will take my business elsewhere. Buyer Beware!

At 62 years old I have been a patient of Dr. David Engen for a very long time. When I introduced the idea of braces he was informative, direct, professional and friendly. He guided me through the process like a pro. I never worried once about the results as he's shown me to be a very caring and competent orthodontist. His staff is just as friendly and professional making their job very personal, truly a gifted staff. The results I benefit from is a renewed confidence in my appearance and smile!!!

Excellent group of people and they run on time. You're sitting in the chair when you appointment time starts, not hanging out in the lobby for 15-20 minutes like most places. Everyone is very happy and helpful. Doctors are top notch, they are very helpful to tell you exactly what they are doing and the pros/cons, along with their professional suggestions. Like most people, I hate dental work, but this was a painless experience. Would recommend to anyone who needs this type of work.

They were recommended by a close friend dental assistant working in Spokane. My experience was fantastic. The full spectrum of periodontal care was top notch. I experienced very little discomfort during procedures, recovery, and healing phases, Dr. Pizzini (periodontist), Olivia (periodontal assistant), Starla (billing) and all the front desk staff put me (patient) first and were skillful, courteous, kind, communicative and efficient. I was grateful for the aftercare availability of my periodontist - which I find to be somewhat limited most places I've been. I recommend Engen, Hahn with no reservations!

Great Dentist, awesome assistants. They were always so nice and really cared about my care. Just needed some minor changes to some teeth that had moved, Invisalign worked great. I'd recommend Dr. Engen and his staff to anyone.

Teenager had a tissue graft at two spots. Dr. Engen and his staff were excellent. They did a great job explaining everything, providing prep and post surgery information, and following up with personal phone calls. They were friendly and seemed to genuinely care about patient satisfaction. Highly recommend!

I had a grafting procedure with Dr. Engen and it was surprisingly great. The staff were extremely friendly and genuine and the office was clean and sanitary. The procedure itself was far less intimidating than expected and the healing time was fast. Great group of folks and I'd highly recommend them to all!

I had Invisalign and an implant done over the course of a year. They did a great job from start to finish. Most appointments were quick and efficient. The surgery went extremely well. They always did a great job communicating the next steps and expectations. The staff is friendly and extremely kind.

I had a very positive experience with both gum graphs that Dr. Engen performed. The prescription he gave me helped me get a good nights sleep the night before and I had no anxiety before or during the procedure. I healed very quickly and I’m very pleased with the results. The staff and Dr. Engen are very friendly, professional, and eager to answer any questions. I highly recommend Dr. Engen.

Having been a life long person with anxiety involving any kind of dental work, I must say I was apprehensive about needing a dental implant. My experience with Dr. Engen and his staff was more than great at relieving that anxiety and making the overall experience totally underwhelmingl From the front desk to the back office, the staff is pleasant and reassuring, and Dr. Engen is friendly, obviously competent and skilled. We have both been patients of Dr. Engen for quite a few years for a variety of specialized procedures, including extractions, bone grafts and implants. We have never been disappointed in the final results. He and his staff are professional and trustworthy in all phases of contact and treatment.

My gum graft went like clockwork. No problems whatsoever. Pleased with the care and communications provided both before and after.

My dental history has been pretty routine and getting ready for an implant made me nervous. What did I get? Clear explanations about the bone graft and what to expect, no pain either during the procedure or after, and quick healing. Dr Engen eased my anxiety and everyone I had contact with in the office was EXCEPTIONAL. This is a team that clearly works well together. I will happily return for the implant!

I was seen by Dr. Engen for a skin graft. Great experience with very little discomfort. I was worried for nothing. I'll only go back to Dr. Engen for any of my oral procedures. Awesome Surgeon and a pretty good guy to talk to. The staff are pretty cool too! Love the front office fish tank!!

Their care, knowledge and professionalism is outstanding, and the office itself has a relaxing atmosphere to it. Dr Engen truly cares about his patients. Did a great job on gum graft! Healed quickly and mostly pain free.

I anticipated at least a couple days of pain following my gingival graft - but nothing! It was basically a "non-event". It wasn't even close to necessary to take a prescription pain killer they'd provided for me. They even removed an irritating suture early to make me more comfortable. No hesitation to recommend them - I'd go back in a heartbeat if I needed their services. Great people too!

I've been struggling with gum disease that is only advancing, I had to wait about 3 months to get in, although I live close to office and informed staff I would like to be on cancellation list, I never even once was offered a different time, during consultation dentist engen was not polite to my liking, was not professional during assessment (ex.told me to swallow a bunch of blood that was caused by his examination vs having a suction to do so, I almost threw up). Then I was brought into "business" room, where I clearly identified my concerns and cause for this appointment. We had(what I thought an understanding discussion as said dentist was responding to things I said), plan was placed, however my concern was not addressed in the plan. He also said that he will not work on my issues until I come for his teeth cleaning education, ok, fair enough, maybe I did miss something during childhood learning process when it comes to teeth hygiene. Nope, I did exactly what I was shown during this consultation, in fact it appeared I had better understanding of what to do than assistant showing me WHAT/HOW to do. Then, I come for a cleaning and oh gosh! hygienist spent approximately 3/4 of the scheduled time getting me numb, I am laying in the chair thinking oh it's going to be some intense and advanced cleaning, nope. Cleaning took about 15-20 mins combined with laser treatment. Although saying that my insurance doesn't cover they still did bill my insurance, the insurance sent me a requisition that is 200$ less than what they are telling me I owe them. Keep in mind that I informed dentist that I am a college student, so obviously money is an issue, although I do have insurance, apparently it was not covering this type of procedure...again, procedure that was not what brought me into office. So, a month after the procedure my gums are in the worst stage they have ever been, my concerns are not addressed, when I called dentist and asked him something about what we talked he said that basically he didn't say that. At this point it's he said/she said thing. I am stuck with a huge bill, unresolved issue and the WORST stage of my gums...I'm clueless on what to do as they never answer their phone, I always have to leave a message and at this point I am just exhausted. if you took this long and you are reading this, please stay away from this office. My perception is that the interest is my wallet not my health. Never had a dentist like this, I will leave it at that.

I was sent to Dr. Engen by my long time dentist. The experience I had at this office could not have been better. I never waited more than 5 minutes, the procedures were clearly explained, and the costs were discussed as well. Dr. Engen and his staff were very friendly and caring, and after a lengthy procedure, Dr.Engen called the next day to see how I was doing. A top notch experience from beginning to end.

Dr Engen and his staff were all exceptionally professional, welcoming and knowledgeable. Dr Engen did an excellent job explaining the risk, benefits and alternatives to doing the surgery that he was recommending and was able to thoroughly answer all of my questions. His team was able to provide me with accurate information regarding billing, recovery, and other questions that came up after the surgery.

On 8-14 I had an appointment for a procedure for an implant. I was anxious upon arrival Dr Engen & his staff made me comfortable & it was the best experience I’ve ever had for a dental procedure. ?

Being on a tight budget and needing 2 implants I went to 4 oral surgeons in Spokane county to shop for the best I could find. Dr. Engen was not just an oral surgeon, but has periodontist degrees as well. His office has relaxing ambiance with a gorgeous water garden outdoors. His staff members are amazing, professional and a lot of upbeat attitudes. In fact, it sounds odd, but I really enjoy going there. Who enjoys going to the dentist? Yeah, that good! The prices were lower than the other 3 places, and Dr. Engen was no doubt the best oral surgeon I interviewed. He and his lighthearted, professional nurse operated on my implant and in no time, I was walking out with a new implant. Hardly any pain. My gums healed in five days. Dr. Engen is by far the best oral surgeon I have ever encountered. His staff is great with helping on payments and paperwork for insurance. Highly recommend him to treat others.

I'm sharing for my husband Jim, as the patient and for myself as the communicator (HA). When we first called for the consultation appointment they said that they didn't have any appointments until September. Our schedule is very flexible, so I said please call if you have any cancellations. This was Monday, Tuesday they got him in for the exam and then Thursday and Friday for the deep cleaning and scaling! And Jim said, "That was the best experience I have ever had with a dentist." I feel like I have made several new friends, as well. Thank you for taking such good care of Jim!

If you are looking for an Orthodontist go to Dr. Engen! He did my daughters braces and she couldn't be happier with the results! She has a beautiful smile and more confidence now. This was my second implant with Dr. Engen. Went perfect! Procedures went great, with minimal pain afterwards and the healing process was faster than anticipated! The entire staff was every professional and as always Dr. Engen explained every part of the process and answered all my questions. Could not be more happy with the results!

The whole implant took about 30 minutes. It was very underwhelming.

I have always been afraid of going to a dentist. I am a gagger and that makes things worse. My experiences with Dr. Engen have been excellent . Actually, Karen here. The staff are very friendly and they know me by name even though it may be months in between visits. Very professional. I appreciated the patience and kindness of the financial staff as well. Dr. Engen is very knowledgeable and did excellent work. He was quick to do research into the safety of the plastics being used and to make adjustments on the spot to my appliances. The attention to detail on all fronts is noteworthy. Great experience and very welcoming atmosphere! All the staff I came in contact with were knowledgeable. Dr Engen was very kind and thorough. He took time to explain exactly what the procedure would entail.

I did not find Dr. Engen to be sociable. The nurse that did my root planing did not have a very good bedside manner either. She didn't really explain what she was doing during the procedure. She walked away to do something and didn't tell me what she was doing. Meanwhile the bite blocker she shoved in my mouth as far back as she could get it was painful. She didn't do the wiggle technique for distraction of pain while putting the needle in for numbing. I felt cracking in my jaw when she put the needle in.When I complained of having too much pain I was told to take Ibuprofen. They don't prescribe pain relief for at home! Ibuprofen is not cutting the pain out! My jaw hurt for a week after having each side had been done. I will not go back to them for a root planning ever again!
