Doctor was awfully rude. Phlebotomist wasn't paying attention and stuck me in the completely wrong spot. Another medical staff had to correct him. He just dug the needle around in my arm, confused as to why there was no blood. Left a lovely bruise

Had surgery on Wednesday last week the nursing staff was ok but my CNA was a different story when she was putting on my compression socks she was rough as hell with me and I told her she was hurting me, she acted like it was no big deal until I asked for a patient advocate. I had ACDF done when I was fitted with my cervical collar I told them it was too big I have a smaller size neck than the average patient and I was told they can’t fit me with something smaller I would have to go my physical therapist and see if they would order me something since my drs office doesn’t carry them either and I have to do a nurses visit to show them how it doesn’t fit right.

WORST hospital possible. If you have time it’s your best interest to drive to Laramie. If you go in make a day of it because that’s how long it’ll take to even find anything out. And if you call expect to be lied too.

The majority of the staff seems put out that loved ones need an accurate update on medical treatments. I know the hospital is struggling but treating family with zero compassion is never acceptable.

Virtually empty upon arrival when we showed up. Took almost an hour to get into a triage room. Then almost 2 hours to get to a room. Nurses will check on you every 2 hours or so if they feel like it. Been waiting on a urinalysis for over 2 hours now. This place is ridiculous.

Exceptionally long wait. Was having severe chest pain. They took blood, hooked me to a machine then forgot about me for the next few hours. Was discharged with nothing found, but the bill was prepared and on my door with the quickness. $3000, I thought it was a bit high but setup a payment plan. I tried to call and move a payment on a Monday, payment was to come out on Wednesday and I was hoping to be able to push it back 2 days till payday as I was tight. They could not work with me for 2 days on 2 days notice which caused a financial pickle. Thank folks. If you are dying, die on the way to almost any other hospital or urgent care. You will receive faster service, better results and a smaller bill.

Went to the ER by ambulance today I wouldn’t 10/10 recommend every skip going here and head to any other hospital within 100 miles. The nurses are rude and you can tell they don’t want to be there. One nurse called me multiple names. This hospital always has been trash and always will be?

I was there for 5 hours and apparently I was forgotten about, had to go back to reception after being very patient, after finally being let in the back I had to sit in the hallway and a dr gave me a rx instead of actually helping me, these people are a joke and have absolutely no interest in helping anyone

I have worked for hospital systems for 37 years. A hospital’s mission should include compassion and caring for the community it serves, for its patients and their families. It should have well-coordinated systems right down to its reception staff at the front door. Presently, my concern is not with the care, but with the reception staff. This is my story: On Wednesday 11/10/2021 I ordered flowers (pumpkin vase with fall-colored flowers) to be delivered to my brother, who was an inpatient. On Thursday 11/11/2021 those flowers were delivered – as notified by a text at 4:30 PM from the flower delivery service. (Since I am in California, I suspect the flowers were delivered to the reception desk at 5:30 PM or so). On Friday afternoon 11/12/2021, I discovered on a call with my brother those flowers never got to his room. On Friday afternoon 11/12/2021, after talking with my brother I connected with the reception desk, and my understanding is those flowers – pumpkin vase with fall flowers – was received at the reception desk, but the folks at the desk had no record of where they went, and no one made any attempt to track them down, or ask me my name. No one at the desk expressed an ounce of care. I cannot overstate how utterly disappointed and sad I was. At that very moment I felt like I did NOT matter, my brother did NOT matter, and that these misdirected flowers put into their charge was not their problem. I would sure hope the patient care provided is not as haphazard. At the very least someone at that desk could have said, “I am so sorry dear, let me run to the gift shop and send your brother up a flower.” That would have made all the difference in the world. But that DID NOT HAPPEN. Shame on the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center Reception Desk.

Went to the ER first time in my life. No privacy to answering the admin questions, was there at 0400ish so night shift still going into day shift, asking tons of preliminary questions when I'm clearly inquire an amount of pain. After we played who wants to be a millionaire they saw me pretty quick. It wouldn't be till about 0600 that they finally got an IV in and gave me some meds. Went home at 1000 hours. If they read this your biggest problem is admin. Some, if not all, those questions can be asked after the situation has been diffused.

Phillip Newsom

I’ll start by saying some of the individual providers are great people and very interested in resolving medical issues, but the hospital itself is very poorly ran and administered. The process to figure out issues whether in patient care, emergency care or otherwise is appalling. Go to Colorado for your care if you can help it. Always assumed when they got bought out it would get better but it’s still the same old ways and practices.

Larry P

While the billing department of CRMC have handled themselves in a polite and professional manner, they continue to threaten people with collections every time they call. I had a procedure in May. With an outstanding bill of about 1300. In July I made 500$ payment. During this transaction I was once again threatend with my bill being sent to collections. Today I called and made another 500$ payment once again being told that if I do not set up a payment plan my bill will be submitted to collections. I understand CRMC's position but to threaten people with collections with every contact is unprofessional and does absolutely nothing to build community trust. Let's be honest CRMC has failed and being the great community hospital they advertise as.

The absolute worst hospital! Nurses are rude and awful on the cardiology floor. They have no consideration for a patient. They also don’t update family members! The two guest limit the whole time a patient is there is absolutely outrageous, when your father’s heart is weak and not doing well!

Worst hospital ever. If you are in need of care you are better off to stay home and care for yourself. Absolutely no care or compassion from any employee of the hospital. If you are in need of EMERGENCY care be prepared for a 6 hour wait. When a person can be in the waiting room of an ER for longer than an employees shift something needs to be addressed.

Matthew Crawford

If I could leave a review for negative stars I would, staff is made up of rude incompetent individuals, service in the EMERGENCY room is a joke to say the least. I just wish we had another hospital in this town, because I’d definitely go to any other medical facility whenever possible, unless you’re literally about to die go somewhere else please. Wait times of routinely over 3 hours what are they even doing in the back? Who knows? I know a guy who was discharged and then a few days later ended up needing OPEN HEART surgery and the Dr who figured that out wondered why he was discharged in his condition. This hospital is a disgrace

If I could give zero stars I would. had multiple surgeries for separate random things. Through insurance should have only paid $8,000 and am now paying over $50,000 because they did not submit bills in time to the insurance. They WAY overcharge for EVERYTHING!!!! then they send you to multiple different collection agencies before anything can be settled! WORST PLACE

Worst experience ever. The e.r. front desk staff were extremely rude to everyone that walked up. There isn't even ONE space reserved for emergency room parking. And once I was taken back to a room they refused to give me an ice pack or pillow for my aching shoulder. It's not like I was asking for narcotics. These people are on a power trip. Bottom line I would not recommend coming to the emergency department here.

Honestly, this ER is a joke! The way things are ran when you come in there provides absolutely no privacy!!!! They announce your information on a loud speaker and with no regard to any patients information! The way they are triaging is completely a cluster..when someone comes in to be seen they are really sick and when you try to ask for information they cant hear you!!! That is a safety problem for patients! Does it really take 4 people and bouncing around to each window to check in..this is absurd! I'm sitting here in pain..I've been waiting for over an hour and half!!! This is crazy and so very unprofessional!!

Patsy Jones

Very unprofessional front desk check In, more interested in ordering and eating food and drink, then getting people taken care of and moving them in and out of the ER! Then when you are finally taken to the back, you only see nurse practitioners in this hospital, you will never see a Doctor! Seven hours is a little long to be told well we’re not really sure if this is what’s wrong with you! DO NOT GO HERE! Horrible experience!

Rude staff. Long wait times, (over 4 hours just to be checked in). My vitals room was still dirty from the last person who was checked in. Staff did not help with any pain relief while I was there. Did not look over all of my injuries. Left me waiting in my ER room without anyone to check on me for over 4 hours. Sent me home with a prescription that didn't go thru for 5 days, after multiple attempts from the pharmacy and myself to get ahold of someone who could help with the issue. Worst ER staff I've ever experienced. I do not recommend any treatment at this facility.

My wife went into to surgery, they told me to aait in her room, that would be the easiest way to find something out. 2 hr goes by and dont hear nothing so i go and hunt people down. They finally look it up and tell me she is in recovery. I asked why no one came to tell me how surgery went. Their statement was like i was a bother to tell anything to. If you want something down i recommend staying away from this hospital

I was pregnant in November 2020, I was giving birth to my son who is 5 months old now :) But no, my hospital stay was absolutely horrible. It started with them taking forever to put my potoccin medicine in, I was on it all day that day. And they didn’t do anything. I was in the process literally all day. I was getting frustrated I said how am I supposed to push when I’m starving, and my contractions are barely coming. So get this, they took out my pitoccin and I had to wait another day, they gave me food and I got to sleep, because they were taking forever to do there job. So it’s the next day, and once again, there taking forever to get my process going, we told them we were just gonna leave and the nurse rushes to take out my iv, so at this point I’ve been poked at least 5-6 times. Males were coming into my room when I was being tested for dilation, and I’ve heard other stories about the males so we were frustrated when that happened. When I got my epidural I told them I did NOT want the medicine in me until I was about to give birth. You know what they did? They put the medicine and I had a huge panic attack because they didn’t listen when they should have. A whole day and night goes by until they tell me I have 2 options, push or have a c section. They told me that my husband and I had an hour to decide. 5 minutes later they rush in taking me to have c section. I specifically said I do not was medicine til I get into the procedure room here comes the anesthesiologist poking me with more medicine.. and when I was being transferred to the room security was trying kick my husband out and I was fighting them saying he needs to be here for his sons birth. I couldn’t even fight because they sedated me with more medicine and I fell asleep and didn’t know what was going on. When my son came out, they gave him a bottle and I did not want that. It ruined breastfeeding for him. He wouldn’t latch. Due to them not putting him on my breast. I do not recommend Cheyenne regional to be your hospital if your having a baby. They did so horrible. They poked me a million times. My birth was horrible. They wouldn’t feed me, and they just don’t listen.

Again like others, zero stars, er drs love to yell and scream at you, the nurses are almost guaranteed to blow out your veins, er rooms are always dirty. Then my spouse had to be admitted, told them if they didn’t provide a urine sample they were going to force a catheter, tried to file a grievance and were immediately discharged instead. Drs on another instance refused to do discharge papers and kept them for an extra WEEK. Don’t even bother with giving them their feedback survey, they will argue about your experience and deny any problems exist. All you ever hear is “im sorry you feel that way.” Unless you feel like you’re going to die, DO NOT GO HERE.

Called to see what to do about a pulmonary emurism and was told that I. Should call my doctor, now mind you the Dr. Offices are closed and was calling for assistance without having to drive to Colorado. The problem is "I was needing to go see them, but basically told to go somewhere else." Really it is better to go to Colorado, at least they never turn you away.

I had gone to a doctor clinic that recommended me to Cheyenne Regional for a high heartrate & come to find out they have absolutely no consideration for those who live paycheck to paycheck. I have absolutely no intention having them correct the underlying cause of my heartrate or any form of medical care in the future. They had their chance & the blew it I'm going to Fort Collins to have my medical care done.

On 12/08/2020 went in due to extreme pain on face from massive infection. Front staff at ER at 2:00 am outright refused care stating "masks are required" back away from the desk and just sat there until i put a mask on which then amplified the pain i was feeling the moment the strap pushed down on my face. I will be filing a formal complaint as well with the hospital

If you can make the drive to Fort Collins for care, absolutely do so. Inadequate care, staff has no professional bedside manner, as a for profit hospital their billing reflects only concern for bottom lines and lacks accommodation for payment options. I live in Cheyenne as does my family, and you can guarantee this sham of a hospital will no longer receive their business from us. What a joke.

If I could give a zero star i would. I had a surgery procedure done in Jan 2020. My obgyn's office, the hospital surgery scheduler, and myself called my insurance company prior to the procedure to make sure everything would be covered. I thought everything was in good standing until I received a letter from the hospital stating that my insurance denied the claims. This is where i get upset at the hospital because i immediately filed an appeal and asking for a grace period from the hospital and they have repeatedly told me that I'm S.O.L. They refuse to write a letter of appeal that the insurance company wants to pay the bill. They just want me to pay a $400+ monthly bill that i can't do

I went here back in April for suicidal thoughts (no plan, attempt nor threat) asking for help with medication. They had one social worker “assess” me, and he put me on a legal detention. I was treated like a criminal and locked up for three days. It was a traumatic experience, and for all that they refused to even help me with my medication. I will definitely not return here nor anywhere else in Cheyenne for medical care! Medical clinics in Africa and Asia are better than CRMC. I’ve been going back to Cincinnati Ohio for medical care, and for future emergencies hopefully I’ll survive the drive to Fort Collins or Denver.

No one wants to go to the hospital, but so times it's inevitable. My mom suffered a stroke, which no one discovered until this facility. She received excellent and compassionate care. My main disappointment was with the folks that answer the phone. They are very short and borderline rude, no matter which department, and never return messages. Yes, they are busy, but in times of COVID, they have to expect more calls since personal visiting is restricted.

This was my first visit to the ED in several years, after visiting a local Urgent care facility in Cheyenne- I am not one to go to the DR unless I am in severe pain or have an issue that could become life threatening- We were checked in promptly and I was taken back to a room within 30 minutes- I was honest about which medications I am taking and how much pain I was in- They ordered blood work and X-rays to see if my infected foot had spread to the bones - My blood pressure was very high due to the intense pain I was experiencing- The Doctor (N.Moore) was very prompt and professional and made me feel at ease ! He put me on a stronger antibiotic and reassured me ! My only complaint is this - The Opiate crisis was fueled by Doctors and the Pharmaceutical companies ! I see a HUGE knee jerk reaction when it comes to treating pain now! I understand that people can and will become addicted, and why practitioners are hesitant to prescribe narcotic pain medication- However, the patient’s are the one’s suffering in many cases . Why even have pain charts on the wall if you’re not going to listen or believe what your patient’s are telling you ? It went from RECKLESS OVER PRESCRIBING, to not addressing severe pain - I was over prescribed in the past and am all too aware of the addictive nature of Opiates! My worry is this .... When people are in severe pain all they want is relief ! I have been sober for over 10 years, alcohol was my drug of choice - When a week of taking Tylenol and Advil around the clock isn’t working and I end up in the ED I would expect the provider to address it in a safe responsible manner! When it’s not ,you jeopardize people’s sobriety! Those suffering are going to look to illicit relief ! Thank God I didn’t pick up a drink but it did cross my mind several times! - I don’t enjoy feeling that way nor looking for other ways to address my pain that are illegal ! You all need to figure this out and listen to those you care for - I am always forthcoming about my health and my history- I found it amusing ,almost ironic that the one time I genuinely needed Opiate pain medication , I couldn’t get any! My foot is getting better slowly and the pain has subsided! Hopefully I will not have to return to the ED or Urgent care anytime soon- I appreciate the care I received! I think it’s great that providers are weary of prescribing Opiates for minor to moderate pain! However , please know that it’s very disconcerting when you’re in pain and need more than OTC medication to address it! It feels like they look at anyone who is in severe pain as an active drug addict or someone who is there only to score drugs! If these medications are not going to be given to those who need them ,then they should take them off the market! Overprescribing and responsible prescribing are two different things -

I went in for a kidney infection earlier in the week and they treated it great. On another note the Doctors are very vague with your treatment and letting you know what is going on. After treating a kidney infection they saw i was having an irregular heart rhythm and automatically said i needed a pace maker. I left to a different hospital and they have said i am perfectly fine and a pace maker is overreacting. Do not recommend this hospital.

My boyfriend went in cause he was not feeling to well and he told them what was going on and all they did was a chest X-ray and then sent him home. With some perceptions. I feel like they did not really care about what was going on with him. And then we called to see if we had to make an appointment like it says in the web page they were rude and short with him about it and told him that if he was not feeling well that he needs to go in and that they are not reserving anything. I am not happy with how they treat people.

my partner was stationed in the Air Force in Cheyenne. If I had any other option but to go to this hospital, I would. They genuinely don’t know what they’re doing and will make you run around until they figure it out. First of all, I had to get an IV and it took nurses and phlebotomists about right times to do it and I was covered in bruises because of them. Second of all, the billing employees cover their tracks by copying and pasting a script of what they tel people on the phone which counters what they actually tell people. For a persona example, I fully paid a bill and I consistently made small payments when I could because at the time I didn’t have a job due to moving and just giving birth, not once did they disclose that because I didn’t set up a formal payment plan that they would send me to collections. I paid the balance in full one to two months after I initially told them about my situation and somehow I still receive a letter from a collection agency for a bill paid in full. They literally don’t pay attention to what they’re doing and Claim to send letters that they actually don’t when they have the correct addresses on file. They like to play dumb. In the number of months I was stuck in Cheyenne, I saw so many people outside of this hospital protesting their unethical behavior and for the fact that their “partners” refuse to give medical documentation. I also know that people have had to be flown out of state to receive treatment because some of the doctors are incompetent. Honestly, if you can get out of this place leave as soon as you can. Don’t get treatment here.

I've had several experiences with this building's administration. All of them are negative. Some of the staff are very good, and I hope they move on to better places. That said, their documentation is inaccurate at best and downright fraudulent at worst. I've caught them in lies frequently, something as little as the length of an appointment to saying that a doctor saw someone when they absolutely did not (in this instance every person entering the room was asked if they were one, each confirmed they were a nurse) The administration never admits a mistake was made or looks into anything further until legal action is threatened. Avoid using this place at all costs. Colorado has better for less.

Customer service is poor at best, non-existent for the most part. Support/Admin staff are grossly incompetent and largely have no idea what’s even going on in their areas of operation. The computer system used as patient charts does little more than record data and pop up up-sell options for unnecessary tests, scans, etc. Highly disappointed in the level of health care available in Cheyenne... next time I’ll go to my Vet!

I was reassured by several nurses and doctors that my husband's care would be free, after our insurance. They mandated he stay longer and longer past his initial visit (way longer than we needed), reassuring us the whole way not to be concerned about the cost. They ended up billing my insurance, and my insurance paid about 10%, leaving us blind-sided with a large bill. Upon calling and trying to resolve the issue, they completely changed their story and now we are being sent to collections for not being able to pay. These vultures will smile and lie through their teeth, drawing out your stay and tests until they've squeezed every last drop out of you, and then they will leave you hanging with the bill. You're probably better off smoking essential oils than trying to deal with these parasites. You people make me absolutely sick.

Few weeks ago I went to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. I requested ONE lab test, but Jennifer Favilla, FNP ordered TWO (and they used the same sample). I never realized until I got the bill. They rejected to fixed my bill and told me to talk to the nurse who ordered the tests. Jennifer never responded my calls, my voicemails or changed the mistake. This is literally STEALING. If you don’t want to lose your money, DO NOT GO to this place.

Avoid this place if you can. ANY ONE MILITARY AVOID THIS PLACE. I make my payments every month 2x a month. On a plan. I asked someone in person if that was ok. She said yes as long as payments are made. I get a phone call stating it's not on a payment plan. Seriously I just asked that. Also they now want my debit card or send me to collections. I guess send me to collections when I made my payment. Terrible non honest place. Your getting your money 2x a month but that is not good enough. Not to mention when I got the work done the surgeon was upset because they wrapped the wound but did not clean it or anything. Gave me a fake cast that again he said was not needed.

This place cannot even be referred to as a hospital. I was admitted and going through tests. I asked my doctor if I could get up and walk around, which I did only to be accosted by the so called security guards telling me I can't do that. Well #1 I'm a grown woman and can do what I want, especially since my doctor approved it. This place needs to be shut down.

Always overbill, make fraudulent claims to your insurance, and lie to your face with a smile, great place!

If 0 stars was an option, I would have chosen it. This is NOT a hospital, it is a business. No money? Then they do not care, unless you are dying.

Hawley was the worst nurse I have ever dealt with. I should have not been yelled at for asking a question about a test that I didn't need and trying to say that I DIDN'T HAVE HEART PAIN. If there was a choice between this hospital and another no doubt in my mind that I would choose the other option. Everything else was the same as always just average. If you don't want to help people find a different job, very disappointing.

Sadly I can't recommend anybody in healthcare when they buy into moral panic and lies rather than science that can save lives.

The worst experience at the ER ever went in for a bee sting cuz I am allergic. We get in pretty quickly but once the nurse ALAINA tried to do an IV on my arm she blew out one of my viens and missed multiple times causing my arm to bleed and bruise. The bee sting was on the other arm near were you get an IV so she put the IV right on top of my bee sting causing me more pain. I can't believe they just let anybody give you an IV. I think they need to improve on there hiring and training cuz that was the worst.

This was the worst hospital experience in my life. Went with my mother and stepfather to the ER to check for a blood clot. When we sat down in the waiting room, we were told that there shouldn't be too long of a wait. My mother wasn't checked for 3 hours. When she was checked in, we were told that she'd be out in about 20 minutes. She wasn't out for an hour. I noticed that the doctor that was taking care of her wasn't even in her room most of the time. The doctor was chatting with other staff. When she finally came back, we were taken to another room. The doctor asked if we needed anything else, so my mother asked for a warm blanket. So, the doctor went to get it, but never came back. We were greeted by another doctor and then left for another 3 hours. We realized that it was now 5:00 AM. They finally gave my mother an I.V and then left for another hour. That's when we asked for the I.V to be taken out so we could leave.

The is the worst hospital I have been to in my whole life. As for personal care it is all automated and you can't ask a question and getting access to results of tests is made very difficult with no option to leave the hospital with info. Go somewhere else it will be hundreds of dollars cheeper.

This is the best hospitol I have ever stayed in. I was travelling on I 80 when I had to have emergency surgery. The surgeon was great, the doctors was great, the nurses and CNA's was very professional and cheerful. The food and selection tasted very good. If you need a hospitol this is the place.

By far THE most RUDEST and disrespectful staff I've ever encountered. Speaking of one admissions clerk and the phlebotomist in their lab. My visit on 6-21-19 the phlebotomist doing my blood draw went right through one vein and made a left hand turn to chase another. Her whole attitude about it was extremely condescending and indifferent. Today's visit almost almost caught me a case when the admissions clerk decided I wasn't allowed to ask questions about my billing let alone expect an answer. And if her questions aren't answered the to her satisfaction she will interrupt you, MANIPULATE and ESCALATE the situation to serve her diabolical ends. With both events I requested a patient advocate to file a grievance and was denied.

Wife had to go here for an emergency after going to her personal doctor about an issue. Spent 9 hours in the ER before they came back and confirmed exactly what her personal doctor suggested was the issue. Nurses and tech in the ER were busy chatting and flirting the majority of the time we were there. I looked up the doctor who was present when we got there and found some stuff for licensing that stated he must attend substance abuse counseling...what? Anyway, when he left, things finally starting moving along. The surgeon who came to talk to my wife seemed a little looping and we seriously thought about checking out and going to Fort Collins but didn't want to risk going through the same thing. again. Surgery went fine and she is all well. The hospitality lady in the ER was great, she checked in on my wife every hour and provided toys for our young children. She made the experience doable for sure!

Been in the ER with my wife for over 5 hours and the only thing that has occurred is an ultrasound without any indication of possible cause.

The worst hospital in Wyoming. Took my 9 month old son to the ER and there was dried blood on the ground left of the bed and they did not even bother to clean it when I told them. On another occasion I went in to see a specialist and he said I had prostate cancer, turned out it was just a pulled muscle in my lower abdomen. When you try to call anyone about insurance questions that relate to them, they’ll just give you the run around in hopes you’ll quit calling and try to steal your money. When I personally was in for stomach issues, they ran multiple tests they had already ran, that I told them not to and then charged me like crazy. More in money than it was the first time. Criminal of you ask me. Go to Colorado or anywhere else in Wyoming. Not CRMC! This place doesn’t even deserve one star!

The ED was such an amazing experience. I had a complication shortly after giving birth. I was treated quickly and with amazing respect. The provider, nurses and techs all listened to me and took my complaints seriously. I was taking care of with dignity and able to get home to my new baby quickly. Extremely impressed.

I wish I could give zero stars. Dr. Leduc nearly cost me my life. If you ever are told to see Leduc... GET OUT! He prescribes psychotropic drugs without warning, lies about what medicine does, and convinces you that you're the crazy one.

I went in this morning and I got to give them 5 stars for my visit. First off the waiting time to get in a room was fast. I'm from New Mexico, and just to get in the back is a long wait. They put me in a room with a bed and tv, pretty decent. New Mexico you won't get this either, New Mexico is 10 times busier and that is a fact and that is everyday. The customer service was great nurse came I'm and checked me didn't know what it was but they ran test to find out. Got the doctor to come in and take a look and she was awesome she knew right away. They gave me medicine and I walked out feeling Better instantly. It took about four hours for a ear infection but I'm so glad they helped and was great.

After being admitted in an emergency situation, I will say that doctors and nurses preformed competently. Unfortunately, at the end of the day, after threats to send me to collections , I am paying as slowly as possible out of pocket for covered service and providing a negative review of the whole organization because an inept coder protected by a hostile receptionist doesn't know how to do the job. Hospital billing staff I dealt with blamed "the system" while blocking access to decision and policy makers. The bill for an overnight stay of observation was 13,000.00. After 4 months of trying to resolve billing with multiple calls to insurance and the Dr., it is clear that whoever codes these things at the hospital is unaccountable, inaccessible and inept. The insurance company benefits advisor explained that services were covered in this circumstance and spent significant effort conveying this to the hospital. The hospital blamed the Dr. Office for incorrect coding, but the Dr. Office stated the hospital does the coding. When the insurance company is more helpful than the hospital, that pretty much says it all. One coder and a receptionist hold all the power. No checks and balances here that I can find.
