The worst thing about living in Wyoming is that whether your on unemployment or are working there is no affordable or good health insurance providers. The lowest plan offered has a deductible of over $8000 & costing almost $500 a month. I would rather pay out of pocket then pay for some worthless plan from BCBS of wyoming.

Canceled my health insurance with no notification - no letter, no email, no phone call. I found out when I was at the doctor's and went online to get my policy number and BCBS said my account was deactivated. I was without health insurance for an entire month not knowing (during a pandemic), and they still required me to pay for the month they canceled on me without notification in order to get it reinstated. Unfortunately BCBS is the only option on Marketplace.

I was reading through the reviews and was dreading to call fearing a long wait time or that I wouldn't receive the information I needed, but when I called this morning they answered promptly, the woman who answered was very polite and she was able to help me with the information I needed to know. She also asked me if I needed anything else and thanked me for calling.

I am stunned at the level of disrespect coming from this company. In the last 3 years, I have had an ongoing battle with cancer. This year, I was told my diagnostic tests will be deductible again, as opposed to covered under lifetime. When I call to speak to someone who is a decision maker, they hide behind the poor lady at the call center, and completely refuse to return my calls as requested. Cowardice to communicate with clients.

Very Rude Representatives! Not willing to help with anything! Very dissatisfied with the service they provide!

They are the most incompetent fools I've ever dealt with. They give no real answers and have been coached to speak in a legalese way. You can count on them to botch everything. They cover very little. Don't waste your time calling, you won't get any answers. They are horrible!! We need to get rid of his unnecessary middle man in health care

The worst customer service out of any company I have ever had to speak with in my life. I would avoid using them at all cost if you can. Its a real shame that in Wyoming they are your only choice for health insurance through the marketplace. If I could give 0 stars I would. Ive been in a two month battle with them over medicine I was forced to pay for when I got the flu because they had accidentally canceled my policy even though I had paid my premium. I've spoke with them over 5 times and each time they tell me something different as if no one knows what is going on. It seems like they are trained to make your life as hard as possible even though you are paying them for health insurance. AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!

Terrible service, seems impossible to get anybody on the phone. They had poor customer service years ago when I used them for my corporate plan and their customer service gets worse every year.

Unless you have a medical condition that is somehow covered, which is rare, or you're pregnant, its not worth it. After you pay off all of the deductibles, they barely even help with anything anyways.

I got a letter from these clowns and they can't get me a continuation form for me that they said they could in a letter to me from them. Completely incompetent

If I could give negative stars, I would. Not only do the "customer service" reps not know what's going on with the account, the phone payment system won't complete transactions. Online won't complete an initial payment, which leaves physical in-person payment or mail them a check. For those of us who work during their hours and have digital-only banks, this makes GIVING THEM MY MONEY extremely, I repeat, EXTREMELY, difficult. Four hours of my life later, I now have to go out in a blizzard to try to give away my money.

You think an insurance company would make it as easy as possible to pay them, right? Not BCBS. All I want to do is pay my premium, and their 3rd party billing website fails to initiate scheduled payments that were set up two weeks ahead of time. Well hell, at least I'll make a one time payment and figure out the reoccurring payments later. ...except their archaic billing website doesn't provide a process to do so and gives an irreconcilable error message when you select "Pay." Automated over-the-phone payment? Nope. Godspeed to those calling them during business hours.

If I could give them zero stars, I would. I have sat on hold for a combined 2 hrs for the same issue and still have not talked to someone. They have applied a deductible amount to a separate out-of-network deductible when it was a charge from CRMC. I have messaged them about this issue as well without response. This had been going on since April! Sure, I could tell the automated service to return my call when my place in line comes up, but given I work for a living, I can not be by my phone when they finally decide to call me back. Also, purely trying to navigate through the automated system to talk to someone s ridiculous.

I have called the phone number probably six times since we have insurance with them. Needless to say, I have to take the day off work to just get through an agent. 45 minutes is average waiting time to reach an agent.

No stars. It took me 6 different phone calls to receive a basic direction. If I ran my business this way I'd be long gone.....It would only let me post this if I assigned a star, which I was reluctant to do.

BCBS said a $64,000 January 2019 emergency charge was out of network and that I owed the full amount. After months of fighting, they admitted that they had a new computer system that was putting all claims as out of network. In MAY they said they had it fixed , it was in network, and all was well. Meanwhile I had spent hours on the phone listening to their canned music trying to get help. Now it is JUNE and they now say that the charge is for a lifeflight (none was taken) and it is out of network....I have been on hold with them for an hour on and off with music still trying to get this fixed. This company is horrible

Been waiting three months for them to pay some bills. They keep telling me I haven’t completed paperwork to verify I don’t have other insurance. I have done this three times. I keep calling and they tell me they will resubmit and it may take up to 30 days to pay. Well it’s been 90 days and they still haven’t paid even though the last two people I talked to said they have my coordinations of benefits information stating I don’t have other insurance.

Susan Marich

Unable to get anyone to answer. The automated system can't answer questions and the benefits are so low for the best package they offer. Very disappointed because irs one of the only options in Wyoming

I've had a lot of jobs in my life, and thus lots of insurance. I doubt many insurance companies have rave reviews, but BCBSWY really is the worst I've ever had. Had a baby on this insurance and they have pretty much denied every claim for various reasons. In a nutshell - all of the claims should be covered by our plan and I think they just want to be difficult and make me fight them for it. Pretty crummy. The plan is a good plan, the company is just an awful company to work with.

I am very disappointed in the service I received. 25 minutes on hold, no answer. I took an afternoon off on Tuesday after 1:00 pm MST, stopped by the office. The receptionist said, she might have a person to talk to. She made a phone call . She told me the persons were too busy . I gave her my cell phone and I am still waiting for someone to call me. That was two days ago.

Can’t get ahold of them. In December, I left two messages and even wrote a letter. More messages left in January. Nothing. Couldn’t get logged on due to technical issues, so no help there as it gave me the same number to call. Of the few times I’ve talked to a human in the years since we’ve had this coverage, one time was pleasant. Coverage is so-so. Out of pocket is pretty expensive for a family. Not the option I’d choose, but my husband is an educator so it’s the only option.

ABSOLUTE WORST INSURANCE I HAVE EVER HAD!!!!!! Prefer to die then deal with them. Being sent to collections because they can’t pay claims correctly or in a timely manner and when I call during their normal business hours a recording says to “call back during normal business hours Monday through Friday 8-5 MST good bye.” It was Tuesday at 3pm MST!!!!!!

On hold for hours at a time to be told....we arnt sure whats going on with that claim that is 3 years old that we should have paid on and havent and has been sent to collections. Sorry about that. By far the moat grossly missmanaged group in America. Taking money and doing nothing that is in your plan of care. Thanks guysA

As an insurance company I give them one star. As a toll free music line I give them five stars. That averages out to 3 stars. The last two days I’ve held for over an hour trying to reach a representative. Fortunately, their rendition of Beethoven’s “Fur Elise” is very soothing. If you’re hosting a dinner party I recommend calling Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming and turning the volume up to 10. Your guests will enjoy a free concerto; and after they’ve left and you’ve cleaned up it might be time to talk to your insurance agent!

This is the absolute most ABSURD insurance I have ever had to deal with. They ABSOLUTELY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE PEOPLE THEY INSURE. I have sat on the phone the last 2 days on hold for over 2 hours waiting for a representative. I emailed them while sitting on hold and still havent received a response. If I could give them zero stars I most definitely would.

As a provider trying to reach a live representative, hold times typically exceed 60 minutes. Completely unacceptable. They are either completely understaffed, or this is by choice/design and just don't care about customer service.

Absolutely terrible experiences. Appeal processes take twice as long to complete as my policy states. Apparently their doctor knows better than mine even though they haven't seen my medical records. I met my co-insurance and deductible and BC/BS's doctor denied what my doctor ordered. I don't have time between now and the end of the year when my insurance resets to go through with the appeal or the peer-to-peer process. I wish I had another choice of insurance but it looks like I don't. I never recommend them.

Nothing like going on vacation and needing to rely on insurance. Called four times, finally after the 4th time I got to help that I needed and that was just to find where I could go for out-of-area insurance providers. And, remember that was after 4 phone calls. The third phone call, the lady gave me for phone numbers, three were the wrong phone number, and one was obviously a terribly wrong phone number. I needed to have my ankle looked at, and the number that they gave me, was for a orthodontist. I'm not quite sure what an orthodontist could do for my ankle, but I guess when in doubt pinky out. Long story short finally found a provider that would take my insurance from Wyoming, only to find out that my twisted ankle is going to have to remain that way, unless I wanted to pay $80 for a walking boot out-of-pocket. Really??? That's what I went in there for was for my twisted ankle and for help. They said that my insurance would not cover the boot... Well, my insurance is going up from $18 a month to $465 a month, Blue Cross and Blue Shield can kiss my butt. The coverage is terrible anyways.

They basically took ~$350 after I became a member of a different plan. We had an individual plan for our family of 3 (2 early 30s and 1 child) which started out costing us about $850 per month which was already really expensive for a $2000 deductible plan. Every year, like clockwork, we would get a 10%-15% increase in our premium to the point that we were paying more for our health insurance per month than we were for our mortgage. My wife got a job which would provide health insurance (also through BCBS of WY) and which would be effective on the 21st of the month. When I went in to inform BCBS of this and to cancel our policy on the day that our new policy would take effect, they told me that we had paid through the end of the month and that they could not prorate any of the premium that I had already paid for the month. I was further told "it's only a week" and was further brushed aside when I pointed out that a week is 1/4 of a month and 1/4 of $1100 isn't exactly chump change. I was told my concerns would be escalated to the Member Services Department Head and that they would call me if anything changed but I'm fairly certain none of that is going to take place.

I've had WHIP(Wyoming Health Insurance Pool) through them for about 4 years now, and never had any problems at all. When I had to go into the office to talk to someone, they were very polite and knowledgeable. And the insurance works really well for me! So, my experience with them has been 5 stars.

Worst customer service you can buy. The agent just hung up on me! When you call the "help" line you get to listen for what seems an eternity about all the things you can do online. BUT when I try to do anything online I always get a "validation error" and I'm told to call the customer service line. Its an unending circle of frustration. Clearly there is little competition or motivation for BCBSWY to treat people well. Too bad I have to select one star, where are the black holes to select for a rating?
