When I made the decision to come to Avista I felt ready. My weight had risen to a point where I was unsure if I could ever get back to my goal weight. I was hoping for help and I got it. The process at Avista for losing weight is easy to follow but you have to do your part. It’s not magic but rather science. It is achievable. Jennifer is waiting for you to come in and get acquainted. She is warm, kind and nonjudgmental. All visits with her are positive and encouraging. Dr. Raman is kind, considerate and helpful with the process of losing weight, answering questions and providing information. I am closing in on a 30# loss in 3 months. Worth every penny.

However, occasionally, reviews are made from emotion, the memory of events, and do not always tell the entire story. Also, they may unintentionally fail to rely on documentation or proper review of the facts. In this case, the former patient intends to inform others. Records indicate the review came from a new patient, who grew frustrated and ended their visit abruptly by walking out on the doctor. The patient had certain and unreasonable expectations limited by law. I hate to write this type of review, but I would like to notify potential patients of this issue. First, I went in 2019 so routine lab work and a referral to a GI. Diabetes and Heart Disease run in my family. I also wanted an allergy test completed for my reference. The labs were run and Dr. Raman said they came back good. Now, in 2021, I logged into my portal via their website to see that, no, they are not good. I have a severe yeast allergy (which could be some of the concerns of my GI problems), as well as a high A1C and glucose levels. Neither of these were every communicated to me. A few months ago, I had lab work done for possible thyoid issues. My T4 was low, and based on the fact that my mother suffers from a thyroid condition (along with symptoms that I am having), I thought it was good to get it checked. When I had my virtual visit with Dr. Raman, she states that "my psychiatric disorder is causing the symptoms and I may be making them up". I took it upon myself to go see an Endocrinologist. Come to find out, I hypothyrodism and am being tested for possible Cushings. Had I not taken it upon myself to do this, I would have lived for a while thinking "I am just crazy". The reviews for Dr. Raman were good, but I do not recommend her. She may not be the same way with you that she was with me.

All of the staff at the office was very friendly and made me feel like a person and not just another patient. I cannot wait to try out the weight loss aspect of the practice. Everything is good with the exception of the phones. It's hard to get them to answer the phone and if I leave a message they never call me back. I was referring my daughter and after a few attempts to make an appointment and no one answered she decided to go else where. So sad because I really like Dr. Raman.

Don't let the negativity give you doubts, this place is fantastic. I've been without a PCP for a long time. I've spent hours researching centers and other primary care doctors around me, and this was *the best* fit for my situation. I show up to my appointments on time, and I'm nice; as a result, the staff is also nice to me. Weird how that works... I'm very happy with my experience and look forward to continuing my healthcare journey with Avista and Dr. Raman.

Called the second they opened about on April 12th. Had a broken leg that happened in Mexico asked for a referral to the ER so i wouldn’t have to pay emergency rates. Had an X-ray already told them the hospital i was going to and that I’d be getting there at around noon. I called every hour on the hour to ask if a referral was sent. 5 hours later 6 calls never sent a referral. Was told several times that raman will look at it right now and send a referral and never got one. She doesn’t care about you and just wants you to get on a weight loss plan. Will never go back. Should have just gone to cigna medical.

I wish I could give 0 stars. I agree with others the staff, including the business owner (did not retain his name due to his nonstop talking, but he is tall, has red hair and blue eyes). I had 2 very cold experiences with Dr. Raman. I think she was uninterested because I am healthy, so no money to be made from me on weight loss or all of the other gimmicks they market all over their TV screens and images on the walls. This is not a general practitioner. I moved on but wanted copies of my 1 lab result and the close out of my billings. For 3 months, they never answered the phone or returned my calls. Finally, after another VM, Samantha called me back, she was new, did not know what to do and became aggressive very fast. She claimed that I needed to come and provide ID to obtain billing statements due to HIPAA requirements. HIPAA states specifically that a doctor cannot request this of a patient, records should be accessible by mail or by email. Listen, the list of issues goes on and on with them. I went in to obtain solutions but got nothing but a bunch of false claims, rebuttals and conspiracy theories. I stayed very patient, calm and did not raise my voice, eventhough they just pushed back, showed themselves to be uninformed and incapable, and as a result, they became defensive and condescending. They literally cannot print a bill or medical records unless you spend $75. Anything you need, you should be obtaining from your insurance... so basically, they do nothing for you. Additionally, the "owner" literally told me that my health records are not mine, but the doctors, so legally, I have no right to them!!!! Who are these people? None of this is worth it, it'll just hurt your health. After reading the reviews, I would not be surprised if the positive reviews are fake. PS: I bet the owner will add a response to my review claiming I am not a patient or was a some sort of a bad patient, just like the other negative reviews. Luckily, I did not stick around long enough. So funny! ???

My name is Chad Gammage, and I am one of the owners and the General Manager of AVISTA Medical Center; and I acknowledge you were a patient of Dr. Raman. I remember our conversation as talking in circles because you refuse to follow the simple instructions stated in all healthcare plans (insurance policies), AMC policies, and your statement. You demanded something different because you feel the rules don't apply to you. I also explained that AMC employees are not licensed in health insurance and cannot legally discuss the terms and conditions of any insurance policy or change any decisions made by the payor (insurer). Unfortunately, you felt none of this mattered to you, so we talked in circles for about 30 minutes. I was patient and polite, as was AMC staff when they tried to inform you. But eventually, I terminated our conversation. I ended our discussion by repeating for a final time, "Please call your insurance company if you have any concerns or questions regarding your insurance policy, its terms and conditions, billing, coverages, decisions, statements or balances owed, and we will be happy to comply with their instructions." As we always do, as required in all contracts with payors and Arizona Insurance Law. It's too bad you have to attack our staff for following procedures and doing their jobs. This is not about their behavior, training, or the quality of care you received from Dr. Raman. This is about unreasonable demands and ignoring simple instructions that work for the vast majority of others. We were just not a fit for each other, and that's ok. This does not make you a lousy patient either. We sincerely hope you find the care you need with another provider and follow through with any recommended treatments. By the way, it's true; a few former patients and one former employee found it necessary to involve others to help vent their anger with additional poor reviews. Case in point; one week ago, we received three one-star reviews in the same hour immediately following the termination of a patient for misconduct. Two of those reviews are from non-patients—shame on all of them. No doubt the majority of our reviews, 5-star reviews speak for themselves. Again, sorry things did not work out, and we hope the best for you and the care you need. You are not a bad patient. Respectfully, Everyone at AMC.

Will never be coming back to this office again after the mistreatment and disrespect that the staff members here give to their patients. Doctors are always very nice and on top of things but should rethink some of their employees that work at the front counter. Some of them need an attitude check.

Have been coming here for awhile now and have always had an amazing experience with the medical staff here. They are well trained and always take care of our well being as a family. However, the new medical staff member known as “Jeff” needs to be fired and stripped of his license. He has no knowledge of how insurance companies work and when questioned about a payment just claimed he didn’t know and that we needed to pay. They got upset we were correct and were asked to leave after we started filming them verbally attacking us. The video will be posted online for viewing and to deter people from visiting this office. DO NOT VISIT THIS DOCTORS OFFICE. I will also be reporting this office to the Arizona medical board.

Patient misconduct is not tolerated at AVISTA Medical Center. Video from the lobby camera shows staff followed procedure and you demanded otherwise. The video shows exactly what happened, how you were aggressive and abusive towards staff and forced to leave the building after you were informed Gilbert Police would be called.

My experience with AVISTA Medical Center was that the office staff is rude, doesn't answer their phones, and was harassed over a cancelled appointment. Dr. Ramen pays little attention to asks, consistently trying to "upsell" more medication than needed/being asked of. Office has become focused solely on weight loss compared to being a doctors office. Received a letter from their General Manager I am no longer allowed to be a patient after complaining about their office staff, not that I would want to go back. Response to Owner - This GM never reached out to myself to discuss the alleged "abusive behavior" I supposedly displayed. It is now only after I stated I was unhappy with office staff to Doctor Ramen and that I would most likely not be returning do to their mistreatment, that this office is claiming any bad behavior by myself. Being a general manager, you should know that customers are not always happy, such as I was in this case, but I was shown far less respect from your employees. It is saddening that you will publicly claim I had "abusive behavior" without even speaking with myself, only hearing a complaint from your staff, which I told I wasn't happy with. I would imagine they would think they did nothing wrong. I want to reach out directly to you to discuss your defamatory comment, along with the letter you sent me, but you have yet to provide any way to communicate to you. As you would imagine, I do not wish to speak with the rude office staff at this time. This type of response should show the perfect example of how this Medical Office treats their customers, and how the general manager will support this mistreatment. In addition, the Doctor I complained about is the GMs wife. Talk about a conflict of interest, way to run a business!

I moved here from Chicago and needed to find a new primary doctor and after looking on line I chose Dr. Raman. I'm so glad I did, she took the time to talk to me for almost 40 minutes and I feel very comfortable having her as my new doctor. Most doctors don't spend that amount of time but she did. The Nurse was great too! Thank you for making this a wonderful experience.

I always had to wait an unreasonable amount of time for prescription refills. I also ran out of my prescription last week, called for a refill, and then they didn’t respond until TODAY to tell me that they can’t refill prescriptions across state lines making me have to find a new doctor and get my records transferred to him/her until I could EVENTUALLY get a refill. I’m very dissatisfied with Avista Med’s poor communication. I would recommend a different medical center.

You can tell our other reviews this is never an issue. AVISTA takes great care in its communications with its patients. Each correspondence is documented for this very reason and our diligent process insures things do not slip through the cracks as you would have others believe. Our records show your account of the recent events to be incomplete and inaccurate. Documentation indicates you were told over a month ago, "your prescription cannot be refilled across state lines” and to establish care as soon as possible, and that we will send your records in time for your next refill." Unfortunately, you waited for the last minute to get your refill and your new provider has yet to request your records which he or she will need before prescribing your medication. For the record, unless the provider is out of the office or insurance company requirements prohibit, all prescription refills are sent out on the same day they are requested. Also, AVISTA has nothing to do with you leaving Arizona or the laws regarding certain prescription refills. If you would like to discuss this matter further, please, give me a call. Excellent staff, on time service, and so far Dr. Raman has helped me a lot. I've been going to Avista for 3 weeks and I'll say this is a very well run practice. Kudos to Tabby and Dr. Raman. This is a follow up to my previous post. I sustained an injury on Saturday. I called the office Monday morning. Within 1 hour I had a telemedicine appointment with Dr. Raman. She immediately took care of everything. 5 more stars to the excellent staff and service provided by all at Avista. Highly recommended.

I have had a terrible experience with Dr. Raman. She does not seem to care about me as her patient minus constantly making me feel guilty for my mental health and economic situation. I also asked about getting help providing information to my employer about me being a high risk (getting COVID). She refused even though on the CDC website explicitly states that I am high risk. I am very disappointed about my experience. I do not recommend her clinic. She was more worried about me scheduling excess appointments with her than my actual wellness.

I went in for a Coach IV Therapy after I obtained a Myofacscial Massage earlier in the day...the visit was very relaxing and in a friendly Professional environment. Everyone was kind-knowledgeable and respecting the current COVID crisis as well. I also decided to move forward and purchase a 4 IV treatment pack to enhance recovery from my Myofacscial treatments.

Best experience I've had in years. I was in quickly and saw the Doctor within 5 minutes. Staff was great and very efficient. I had blood drawn and was very satisfied with my treatment. Dr. Raman was very attentive and the medicine she prescribed was effective in treating my problem. Glad to call her my primary care doctor.

I have been Dr. Raman’s patient for over 10 years. I have extremely high expectations about service; about expertise; about meeting appointments promptly; that my PCP developed and maintained a comprehensive and extensive network of highly qualified medical specialists for referrals; and high expectations about being treated with respect but also with being treated as if I were a long-time family friend (like the old days of neighborhood family doctors). Dr. Raman and her entire office have been meeting these high expectations with every appointment and with every delivery of service for over 10 years, including the navigation of health insurance, including a healthy and welcome interest in my personal life and activities. If ever a newbie in her office did not meet these expectations, they were quickly replaced with someone who does. I would recommend Dr. Raman to everyone as their family physician.

Quality care offering traditional and naturopathic choices. Dr. Raman has a comfortable medical style as a practitioner that puts one at ease,and I felt she covered every issue I had very patiently and professionally so that when I was seen I felt she used integrated medicine. During the Covid 19 pandemic I had an allergy flare up. I called in the morning to get an appointment and there was no availability so they told me I could come try to do a walk in but I would need to possibly wait for a long time. I decided to go into the office and was greeted by two friendly girls behind the desk that were so warm and welcoming and willing to help. They quickly got me in and into a room to see the doctor. I was in and out of there within 30 minutes and was so thankful and appreciative. Thank you for being so helpful during challenging times!!!
