My daughter and I started treatment with Dr. Lauson in 2016. He told us both we would be in treatment for 2 years. We had beautiful teeth before we started however, he said he could help with my teeth grinding and my daughters small airway. My daughter was going to be moving to Europe and Dr. Lauson and staff assured us that he could do her Invisalign treatment long distance by Skype. That never happened 1 time! After being in treatment 4 1/2 years, there wasn't a dentist who would do the implants Dr. Lauson recommended because of the over jet of my upper teeth. They said there was no way my bite would ever be right and informed me that I had 12 cracked teeth from my bite being off for so long and my teeth hitting in the wrong place. During this time, Dr. Lauson changed the treatment plan for my daughter without informing us and what a disaster. Her teeth were all over the place in her mouth. After flying her home from Europe to get a solution, I took my daughter to the dentist Dr. Lauson recommended to see what she thought and she too was horrified by what she saw on my 24 year-old daughter. I then set up a meeting with the dentist, Dr. Lauson and our family and he admitted that he was at fault and he was confused between my treatment plan and my daughters!! We stopped treatment July 2020 and asked for him to reimburse us for treatment and travel expenses for my daughter (two trips back from Europe to Colorado) and he did nothing...except hire an attorney to drag his feet with my complaint to DORA (Colorado Dental Board) so he doesn't lose his dental license. Fast forward 6+ years and my daughter and I are still in treatment with another orthodontist trying to fix the mess Dr. Lauson and his staff created in our mouthes. I have a lisp now and a crooked smile. Please know that during all this time "the staff" kept telling us to trust the process however, after seeing 4 dentists and 3 other orthodontists who could not comprehend his "treatment plan" we had no choice but to leave his practice. Further none of them would take my case I'm sure for liability reasons. I was lucky to finally find Dr. Lauson's former orthodontist business partner whot took my case. Feel free to reach out to me if you want to see the horrific pictures of our teeth during that time. I highly recommend you do your research before choosing this practice for your orthodontic care.

You won’t find a better ortho team anywhere else! The front desk, the entire staff and doctors run an extremely well oiled machine, they genuinely care about their patient’s progress and you will never feel like a number is here. I thought I was destined to be in jaw pain for my whole life and was anticipating tmj surgery down the road. They guided me into the path of significantly less pain and I will be forever grateful- if you have jaw pain, you know. It’s a no brainer for me- they’re the best!

Absolutely everyone is friendly, personable, and instantly makes me feel comfortable at every visit. It's always a joy heading to my ortho appointments.

I've been going to them for 4 years to fix the extensive wreck that is my mouth (had unneccessary teeth pulled, severe TMJ dysfunction, still need to finish up my dental implants, it's been a really rough time) and from start to finish they've only been amazing. Even with the large staff change compared to when I started, I have been consistently cared for and listened to. I'm also no longer in the horrible pain from TMJ dysfunction, and can breathe through my nose again! I am so thankful to have found this team. I will always recommend Aurora Orthodontics.

From the moment I walked into this place it was magical for me. The reason that I decided to go see Dr. Kent Lauson was because my little puppy Ellie had gotten ahold of my retainer and my teeth had started to move.The first person I met was Tamara a bright and beautiful woman who is on top of scheduling all your appointments and needs. The second person I met was Nicole a very funny woman who answered all my questions and told me exactly what the process would be to obtaining my beautiful smile back again with straight teeth. Dr. Lauson has recently hired a new doctor to join their staff and family and her name is Dr. Lisa. She is dynamite in a small stature and loves people and wants to get to know everybody. Leona helped me today with my massage and ultrasound of my suboccipital occipital area and my TMJ muscles. The conversations with her and others like Teresa are always free-flowing and wonderful and getting to know them is a pleasure. Would like to extend my gratitude to everybody who's involved with this wonderful group of people. Dr. Lauson has been in business for a long time and has written many articles, books and lectures.... He is at the top of his game I'll guarantee you that. He actually knew my original orthodontist Dr. Bruce Holman from the mid-70s. Dr. Lauson is a soft-spoken Sharp dressed Man for sure and always willing to accept big hugs. Everybody there is a good listener. I am incredibly grateful to have found a place that feels like family. This will be at least a two-year adventure for me. A lifetime of friends for sure.

AOTMJ has been amazing! The staff is always so warm and welcoming. I love to go to my appointments because it is just like catching up with old friends! AOTMJ is professional beyond measure and really sets the bar for other orthodontists in the region. Dr. Lausen really pays attention to detail and listens closely to his clients’ symptoms. When I went to AOTMJ we weren’t sure what was going on with me at first. The team did extensive research before very clearly presenting their findings to me. When I was diagnosed with TMJ, not only was I given lifestyle tips to improve my jaw pain, but AOTMJ went over textbook information with me that really laid out the structural causes. I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

We love them!! Hours are great and everyone has been so helpful and flexible!

Before I found AO, I had visited other orthodontists and had been referred to an oral surgeon who told me I needed/qualified for jaw surgery and how the procedure would work all in less than 5 minutes. When I met Dr. Lauson and team as a last resort before scheduling surgery my entire perspective changed. I spent more time discussing my symptoms and having Dr .Lauson explain the reasons behind my pain and how he could help than I had with all the prior experts combined! I felt like the team instantly understood my troubles and how to help! Best part is no surgery with results I could feel in as little as 3 months. My symptoms that were all extremely painful and ruling my life were gone in 3 months once my jaw was used to being positioned where is it's meant to be!!! My life is forever changed and I could not write a higher recommendation for AO. Please at least give the opportunity for a consultation!

I found my experience with Dr. Lauson's office to be very unsatisfactory for the following reasons: 1) The staff frequently did not return phone calls or emails. 2) I was given different medical advice by multiple staff members. 3) When I opted out of treatment, Elizabeth told that I could possibly receive some of my money back and that she would call me and let me know...I tried to contact her several times and she simply would not respond. It's ironic that she writes below this comment to contact her! 4) My dentist AND oral surgeon did not support Dr. Lauson's desire to pull out several of my teeth.

We have had a great experience at Aurora Orthodontics. The receptionists are friendly and helpful. Jessica, one of the orthodontic technicians, works with my daughter every time. She is super friendly, knowledgeable about what she does and my daughter enjoys her time with her. Dr. Lawson always comes to check on her and has a solid plan to straighten my daughters teeth and is friendly and knowledgeable. My daughters teeth have changed drastically since she started and we are excited to see the progress. I recommend this practice to anyone who needs braces especially if they require specialized care.

It’s unfortunate that there’s not the possibility of negative stars. This is the most unprofessional and clinically lacking medical office I’ve ever had to deal with. Elizabeth the manager doesn’t return calls and has made multiple mistakes regarding billing. This office sends claims by mail rather than electronically which is just one example of how out of date they are. Elizabeth has personally made multiple mistakes when submitting claims. (4 in total) which resulted in claim denial. When I’ve called the insurance company, they told me each time that the submission had the wrong group number and completion date which is why they were denied. From the clinical side, this office touts the benefits of using expanders in adults after making a “clinical diagnosis of sleep apnea.” When asking them questions such as , How do you know when there’s been enough expansion?” The answer was “Its not an exact science.” Since wearing the expander, my bite is completely off and my teeeth only touch on one side. Dr. Lauson’s response to that was, “Chew on the other side.” I’ve since sought the consultation of 2 other orthodontists who do not practice this way and both noted that the expander over corrected my top jaw and will need to be reversed. Aurora Orthodontics is supposed to be refunding all of my money per my last conversation with the manager, Elizabeth. But now she is no longer returning phone calls. I am hoping they get it together before I have to take the next legal step. The other people who have given this practice a one star rating are completely correct in their assessment.

I now have two daughters whose braces were done at Aurora Orthodontics & TMJ, off East Hampden. I reccomend this office for your orthodontic needs??

This place was awesome!!

Staff are very kind. Ann always stayed intouch and finally after 2yrs I was able to get my treatment started and even though I live 5 hours away in a different state, they have a good system down that makes the process possible with minimal travel. This place was truly God sent! Jessica is so easy going and humble she makes every appointment flow nicely, and I trust Dr. Lauson 100%. Can’t wait for my final results!

I had my orthodontic work through them about 8 years ago. I still get complements on my smile, and it's all thanks to this team! They are super friendly and very easy to work with. They often offer incentives to patients for good check ups and the atmosphere in the office is very welcoming. I just recently had to replace one of my retainers and they were more than willing to help me out and even got me in for an appointment the same day I called! I highly recommend this office, they do great work!

This is my first time at this office. When I first walked into the office, I was greeted by a warm and friendly receptionist. Than when I was takin back the doctors assistant and doctor were very welcoming and nice. I would definitely refer people to this office!

The staff is great. Everyone is very good with kids. They value your time, so you don't have to seat in the waiting room for a long time.

Amazing and super friendly staff!

I have been in treatment here over a year now for a TMJ orthodontic plan. After being in a car accident that injured my teeth and jaw, I avoided orthodontics for over a decade for fear of worse tmj headaches...a previous consult only said 'itll get worse before it gets better ' in response to my concern -what a jerky thing! Here, they are comprehensive in their treatment and put me at ease that they had solutions to both my orthodontic and TMJ needs hand in hand. That has proved true and my headaches are much better. I also can't have enough about the team here! They are all consistently welcoming, helpful, friendly and kind in accommodating my needs as a patient. This has been true when I've needed to get in quickly due to complications a handful of times. I was skeptical at all the 5 stars reviews and wondered at how true and great they were...they really are wonderful here and do stand out above any previous medical experience I've known. Yay!

Dr. Lauson and his staff are AWESOME. Not only do I have orthodontia, my wife (twice) and oldest daughter are faithful patients - how's that for a vote of confidence!! Nice folks, excellent treatment methods and flexible payments...very much recommended!!

This was my 3rd time getting orthodontics treatment and it was by far the best experience. The treatment was phenomenal as I not only came in because I wanted beautiful straight teeth but I had been going through TMJ for months and it had gotten extremely painful to deal with. I got 3 opinions from other offices but Aurora Orthdontics definitely beat all of them by far, with their welcoming employees I always felt at home instead of just another appointment. I have recommended them so many times thus far and will continue to do so! I am finally living a good life without the pain in my jaw and the best part is my teeth are so nice and straight that I get compliments everywhere I go! Thanks to my Aurora Ortho family!

Dr Lawson's office does a great job of fixing the teeth, mouth, and jaw correctly. They know what they're doing and they do a great job running their office! We highly recommend them. They are worth the extra drive!

So happy with my experience here. Everyone is extremely caring and helpful. I received quick call backs and answers to any questions I had. I was amazed at how much TMJ/TMD was disturbing my life. I was hesitant at first, but I was having constant headaches 5-7 times a week and unable to sleep. Within about 2 1/2 months of working with Dr. Lausen, I’m sleeping better and my headaches are down to MAYBE one a week. I cannot wait to continue this journey with him and his staff and have straight teeth and a smile I will be proud of in the end.

I came here for my orthodontic work from around age 7-13. All the people that had worked on my teeth were all so very kind and personal and would be very considerate. Dr. Lawson was and has been very professional in my time there. I'm 19 now and when I come in with my younger siblings or my mom, he still remembers me. Some amazing people there.

When i went to AOTMJ i was doubt full about the care that the employees were going to give me. i was pleasantly surprised when they listened to what i had to say and engaged with me. not only were they friendly but the worked fast and efficiently. before starting treatment, i had horrible teeth but through the years with them, my teeth look great. heading into my senor year of high school i can walk around smiling with out fear.

I really enjoyed my time there. the employees that worked on me were so king and curious to my needs or pains. they tried their best to cater to my needs when i needed them. going there felt more like going home.

I've been suffering from migraines for most of my life. I went to see Dr Lawson about them and found out that they were caused to my locking jaw, TMJ problems. Dr Lawson's process maneuvered my jaw to the proper position and since then my jaw isn't locking and my migraines are no longer. Thanks to Dr Lawson and staff for helping me move forward in my life.

As a result of a car accident I suffered from headaches, neck & back aches, insomnia and teeth clenching for years. Two weeks after I began treatment (non-surgical) with Dr. Lauson I was completely off all pain meds and muscles relaxers. I learned quickly into my treatment that I was going to need to have patience and trust the process, which I am so happy I did. Dr. Lauson and his staff are wonderful, knowledgable people. I'm actually from Texas, but stumbled upon him during an internship I did at the medical school last summer, and I'm extremely thankful I did. I've tried so many different therapies, from chiropractic care that only helped my neck pain but not my jaw, dry needling that did nothing but massage my muscles with needle, and expensive retainers that only protected my teeth. It wasn't until I came here that all my seemingly unrelated symptoms finally made sense. They explain everything and focus on treating muscles, and not just your skeletal structure. Not to mention that Dr. Lauson has a book, which is pretty awesome. I think another review said they don't tell you where he got his training from. They actually do. You just have to ask. The only downside is that I'm back in Texas and have to make a trip to Colorado every few months. However, his treatment has been the only treatment that has actually worked for me, so I'm not complaining at all.

My daughter's experience here has always been positive. They allow her to make her own appointments after school. (She's 16) and only update me if there's anything urgent I need to know. She feels a little empowered over her whole brace wearing experience. The staff is great and accommodating. Love this place!

Great staff on hand. One of the best massages I have ever gotten, Reyna knows how to work your muscles to help with your jaw. One of the best decisions I have made!

Looking back at the treatment I received from Aurora Orthodontics over a period of nearly 6 years, I must say that I would not recommend their service to anyone. Yes, most of the folks who work in the office are kind and polite, but this is not the whole story. I sought treatment and Dr. Lauson and his team pulled out the red carpet to get me to sign a contract for 3 years of treatment. He went on and on about giving me a “celebrity smile.” I didn’t care about that, I simply wanted a functional and sustainable bite. After I signed up, things started to go off course. Each segment of my treatment went longer than predicted. Some of the applianced caused large and painful sores in my mouth. When I moved on to invisalign, I was told that it would be just as effective as braces. The treatment as applied incorrectly and caused the death of one of my front teeth. My dentist blamed the orthodontist for causing trauma to the tooth, but the ortho didn’t have to pay the hundreds of dollars for root canal and treatment. After doubling the recommended time on invisalign, Dr. Lauson finally admitted that it wasn’t a viable treatment in my case and we switched to traditional braces. The plan was for 12-14 months. 2 years later, we still weren’t done. I was fatigued, missed an appointment, and didn’t rebook for 90 days. At that point I was told that I was outside the treatment parameters and would have to essentially start over, including paying the thousands of dollars again. I opted out, and I’m working with my dentist to address the things I went to Dr. Lauson for 6 years ago. The level of care and concern I received when they were looking for my money was never again offered. Six years and almost $10k later, I believe that he cares much more for profits than for patients.

Aurora Orthodontics has some of the most friendly and welcoming staff of any dental practice in the state. They are professional, considerate, and knowledgable. They treat you like family and make your experience as pleasant as possible. They are always on schedule and accommodating. We enjoyed our appointments with Nicole and appreciate the experience they have given our family.

The ladies here are so wonderful! I'm a person who often runs late but they always accommodate me and are never unpleasant even when I do show up late! They are skilled and professional and I always look forward to coming in to see them.

We have 4 children 1 had straight perfect teeth the other 3 had teeth I don't even know how he made them soo perfect and I did the math I have had children seeing him for 18 years and today he fit my youngest with night retainers and after 18 years and 3 out of 4 having braces I feel like a million dollars when they smile worth it!

Tmj treatment destroyed my teeth, gums & made my jaw joints worse. Then when they made my symptoms so bad + added pain they left me w/an open bite that no doctor can fix, damage to my teeth & gums to the point of now I'm losing them & made my face longer/more uneven. I had healthy teeth & gums before treatment & great oral hygiene/home care- then this treatment ruined that! I am now suffering worse than I started & losing my entire mouth & health- so this should've never happened & I only had tmd for less than 2 months w no pain before. Now I have nothing but pain & problems since I came here - can't sleep or eat or have a life bc of what was done to me. I can't even take care of my kids now. My jaw was getting better with just my retainers from previous ortho I had at another office. But they lied to me to do & stay in treatment for money instead of caring for my health. INFO FOR ALL- you can expand the upper jaw/ arch with new types of braces that are on the market & doctors are now being trained to not extract teeth & they know about the jaw-teeth relation. I was lied to with this office at my consult to make me believe otherwise & during treatment. Funny thing too is they won't say where he got his tmd training from???

Went here for TMJ treatment & it ended up destroying me - came out way worse than when I started. Lack of attention from doctor has left me losing my once healthy teeth & gums, plus this treatment has caused worse damage to my jaw joints!!! Save yourself unless you want to lose your entire mouth, joints & health like I did!! Wish I would've never tried this bc I would still have my beautiful & healthy teeth I had when I started. I'm starting to feel I was deceived not only by the staff, but by the reviews below on them claiming his treatment helped. Why if I only had minor tmd symptoms for only a month (not years of tmd, but a month) did I end up with severe symptoms now & damage, these others below that had bad pain are all of a sudden symptoms free??? You be the judge- I feel it's all fake or paid.

I love working with Dr Lauson and his office! They did my orthodontics when I was a teenager, and now they are helping my son. They're great about taking the time to explain what they are doing, and why and they use terminology he can understand. They are always very supportive and helpful with any paperwork or insurance issues that come up. My son is always very comfortable with the people in the office, and they get you in and out quickly. It's wonderful that they're so considerate of your time.

Everyone at aurora orthodontics is amazing!! At every apportionment, I was met and take care of like I was part of their family. I couldn't have asked for a better all around ortho experience. I just had my last appointment but I'll definitely miss going back and would reccomend aurora orthodontics in a heartbeat!

Dr Lauson and his staff are incredible. I have 3 children and I have never been to any dentist or orthodontist that spent this much time, had genuine smiles, and seemed to really care this much about their patients. The office has plenty of laughter and that is a great sign to me. I had taken my daughter Dr Nielson at Smoky and Buckley and he confirmed my daughter's large overbite and his first plan of action for her was to get her in with an oral surgeon so they could saw her jaw in half and put it back together. Needless to say I asked for other possible treatments and Nielson said surgery was the way to go. I found Aurora Orthodontics and Dr Lauson's assistant said that it was, indeed, preposterous to go with surgery before doing a simple spacer and braces. She showed me success photos of many other children with this same issue and I was so relieved. Today, my daughter's bite has moved significantly after just 6 months in the spacer and she can chew her food better and we are on the way to a perfect bite without sawing her up! Thank you so much for all that you guys do and for having an office where my slightly aspbergers daughter feels totally comfortable to go to visits by herself when I am at work.
