ABQ Pediatric Dentistry: Audrey Rawson, DDS

Dr. Rawson is great, when my son had a dental emergency on a Saturday night, I was able to get in contact with her and she let us know what we needed to do. She contacted me the next day to see how my son was doing and she arranged for us to come in before the clinic opened on a Monday to do xrays and see the progress of the injury. I will continue to take my kids to her, I appreciate her very much!

We started with ABQ Pediatric Dentistry with Dr. Shaw when my son was little. We are happy with the transition to Dr. Rawson. We also love Suzanne who has worked with my son since our start there. The team works so well with us. Highly recommend.

The entire staff is extremely warm and professional. My children are always put at ease and feel very cared for when they visit ABQ Pediatric Dentistry and Dr. Rawson is great at remembering their interests and medical history. We are also impressed with their Covid-19 safety practices. We rarely see other patients and the staff is very good at masking.

I took my 1 1/2-year-old son to Dr. Rawson for his first dental visit and had a great experience. The office was clean, friendly, and no wait time. The staff and dentist were very friendly and playful with my little guy and made the experience fun for him. They took time to explain things and made me feel comfortable too. The appointment cost was more affordable than other pediatric dentists in the city if you don’t have dental insurance. We will go back here for his next checkup.

Amazing with my son! Was so worried he wouldn't stay still for his appointment and Dr. Rawson and her assistant worked efficiently and would be silly for him. It was perfect! HIGHLY recommend her and so happy I found her will my children are young. :)

Love Dr. Rawson and her staff. She is very patient oriented. Kids can be tough at the dentist, especially toddlers. Dr. Rawson and her team have been caring for my toddler for the last couple of years and my son has been going to their office since he was 2; he’s almost 15 now.

Fantastic pediatric dentistry practice. My son had more than one accident on his scooter chipping his teeth and they saw us right away both times. He was so scared and they did everything in their power to make the experience as gentle as possible. I would highly recommend Dr. Rawson and her staff.

We moved to NM from Maryland two years ago (June 2019), and the very first thing we did was find a dentist for our severely autistic daughter. At the time, the provider at ABQ Pediatric Dentistry was one Dr. Shaw. After two different dentists (supposedly pediatric dentists) in Maryland, we were rather apprehensive about our first visit to Dr. Shaw and to ABQ Pediatric Dentistry, but our anxiety and apprehension quickly evaporated when we met Dr. Shaw and Ms. Suzanne. They both took care of our daughter and showed the utmost kindness to her, but Dr. Shaw soon retired, which was yet another source of anxiety for us. (I still had memories of the so-called pediatric dentists of Maryland, and I was very worried about the new provider. That was 2019! Fast forward to 2021, post-Covid, ABQ Pediatric Dentistry. We had our second visit to ABQ Pediatric Dentistry and Dr. Rawson today! Once more, all our fears and worries evaporated almost instantly. Ms. Suzanne was the personification of kindness, and she took care of our daughter as if our little princess was Suzanne's own! She did not mind the tears and screams of our child, but rather Suzanne tried to comfort our little, and for that matter, Suzanne tried to comfort the stressed mommy as well! Enter Dr. Rawson! Well, Dr. Rawson may be petite and delicate in stature, but she certainly fills the rather large shoes that Dr. Shaw vacated admirably and impressively! Dr. Rawson was more than merely professional; she was knowledgeable and well informed about the best practices of her profession, but equally important, she was gentle, kind, understanding, and humane toward my autistic little princess. We left Dr. Rawson, Suzanne, and the entire staff of ABQ Pediatric Dentistry feeling comforted, respected, and supported. Everyone , even the building itself at ABQ Pediatric Dentistry was warm, understanding, and kind toward us and our daughter! If you have children with or without special needs, and you are looking for a safe and warm dentist and staff for those children, then look no further!

Firstly Dr. Rawson is amazing! We started both my children on a treatment plan and mid plan we were told that we would be moving in a short timeframe, I called Dr. Rawson’s office and they were very understanding and said they would get back to me about what we should do. 3 weeks passed and I did not hear anything, I called and they apologized and said to give them a few minutes to get the doctor to call me. Dr. Rawson somehow worked her magic and got our appointments in time before we moved! First appointment went great and both Dr. Rawson and Brandi were patient and gentle with both my kids! Second visit my youngest was positive for strep throat a day prior to visit and I called as soon as I found out to let her know and she waved her magic wand and got us in super last minute to finish treatment! I can’t recommend her office enough! Little hiccups she takes charge and makes it right! We even kept our cleaning appointment 6 months from now and will drive a couple hundred miles!

I have a 3 (almost 4) year old and we had our first visit to the dentist with Dr. Rawson and staff today. I was nervous, particularly so because I kept meaning to go sooner and putting it off and then my daughter sustained a mouth injury so I wanted someone to look at it plus get her a established at a dentist finally. I could not be more pleased! I feel like I stumbled upon the greatest pediatric dentist office! Seriously every person we came across was awesome. My daughter did great and was so well taken care of, plus the dentist explained things to me as well! I can’t say enough about how lovely the staff is and how we actually look forward to our next visit!

I took my son (1 1/2) there for the first time today. Suzanne, Dede and Dr. Rawson were so good with him and made his first dental visit a breeze! Highly recommend them!

I cannot recommend this office, Dr. Audrey and her staff enough! My 7 year old was TERRIFIED with an extreme amount of anxiety over having to get a cavity filled. Our general dentist recommended ABQ Pediatric Dentistry because of the anxiety and the need for specialized pediatric care. Every single person in ABQ Pediatric Dentistry has been professional, knowledgeable, gentle but most of all, extremely caring towards not only my very scared not so cooperative son, but also his anxiety-filled mother. The office is clean and professional while still be kid-friendly (but not in an obnoxious "kid-friendly" way, meaning soothing colors vs. a circus look). Every detail is thought of to make kids feel comfortable, from the waiting room with a kids movie on, to the chair with the leg support cushion, to the instruments that are obviously kid-sized, to the iPad over the chair that the kids can choose a movie to relax to. They do not rush the appointment at all and took a long time to explain each instrument to my son, letting him hear what it would sound like and feel like while explaining what it did so the unknown wasn't so scary anymore. When my son was crying (out of fear when we first arrived), Dr. Audrey took the time to hold his hand and do breathing exercises with him, which made a huge difference for him. The office staff are very knowledgeable with working with insurance, including filing through both insurance companies my son is covered under, and kept me abreast of the coverage details and estimate, even before we arrived for the appointment. No stressful time for me, dealing with insurance with this office! They are wonderful with communication via email, text messages and phone calls and actually do follow through with calling you off the 'cancellation list' when an appointment opens up. I honestly cannot say one negative thing about our experience. My only regret is not finding them sooner for my kids! If you have a child in ABQ or the surrounding areas, do yourself and your kids a favor and call for an appointment. You will be shocked at the difference this professional business makes. As a first time mom, it can be a bit overwhelming in making a choice for your baby’s dentist. I’m so glad I came here. The whole staff was friendly, it was baby’s first visit and they really go above and beyond in making my baby calm. Dr. Rawson is amazing. They make sure that all your questions are answered. Regarding Covid safety measures, everything was clean, sanitized I felt very safe and comfortable that all the necessary precautions are being taken.

I don't write reviews often, but have to commend Dr. Rawson's manager, Danielle, on exceeding my expectations. She has always been friendly and cheerful, even bubbly, and has always been able to help my family with any questions or requests. It's the kind of service that, I am sad to say, you rarely receive here in New Mexico. My latest interaction with her was completely unexpected and prompted this review. She contacted me about an upcoming appointment. It wasn't a reminder - it was to recommend that I postpone the appointment! It turns out that by waiting less than a month, I would save money on the copay for my child's dental treatment. I'd had no idea, but she was absolutely correct. This is just the sort of thing Danielle does out of the goodness of her heart. Especially during these difficult economic times, it's a small act of kindness that I sincerely appreciate. Just in case I haven't already rambled on long enough, the office has been remodeled and is beautiful. We enjoyed seeing the new artwork, especially the pieces near the front door. The new pediatric dentist, Dr. Rawson, is everything you hope for in someone caring for your child - gentle, patient, and friendly. You can tell that the assistants and hygienists (everyone we have met in this office, lest I forget someone) choose to work in the office because they want to, not because they have to. Everyone seems genuinely happy to see us every time we come in.

Great visit! Dr. Rawson is excellent. She did a great job explaining what she was doing to my kids (10 and 12) and listened carefully to their questions. The updated office looks beautiful and equipment is state of the art. Highly recommend!!

We have been going to ABQ Pediatric dentistry since my HS Senior was a baby. Dr. Rawson had some big shoes to fill when Dr. Shaw retired and she does it wonderfully! Her and her staff are kind and accommodating to our large family and have really made us feel at ease for normal checkups and emergencies. They have very gracefully adapted to a COVID world and helped us feel comfortable with the increased level of regulation in 2020.

Dr. Rawson and her talented team are some of the most patient and dedicated medical professionals I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. My daughter is six and my son is two. Trips to the dentist are filled with toys, games, prizes and smiles. This staff really knows how to help children relax. I get information on how to keep my kids mouth healthy and my daughter and son always walks away feeling proud of how good they are at brushing their teeth. What a beautiful experience and what an honest, kind, gentle and engaging staff. I took my 4 year old in for a 2nd opinion after a horrible experience at Grace Children's dentistry. They told us we have over a $1,000 in work for my daughters mouth. They said they will have to pull teeth and some would need a root canal! They also said she will have to under go general anestesia and the cost of that alone would be $810 dollars and our insurance won't cover it. I come here and she just had some staining and a few beginning stages of cavities but nothing major. ABQ Pediatrics saved my daughter and I am so thankful. They're educated and have a great attention to detail! With x-rays and examinations they discovered her teeth and gums are very healthy, just a little staining and a beginning stage of cavities in between the back teeth. They sang songs to my daughter and gave her toys and stickers and just made her feel so comfortable. This is our answered prayer! Thank you ABQ Pediatrics for saving our little girl.

We loved Dr. Shaw and her staff. Our family adored her. When she retired, we were optimistic but nervous about meeting her replacement, Dr. Rawson. There was no need to be. Dr Rawson is very friendly, patient, explains things in great detail, and my kids really like her. We will miss Dr. Shaw but are very happy to have Dr. Rawson for a replacement. I know she will help my kids' teeth stay clean and healthy. Dr. Rawson and her staff are very friendly, personable, and professional. We are recommending her to all of our friends and couldn't imagine our kiddos seeing anyone else.

Great pediatric dentist! My kids have been going there for years. Very kid friendly environment and easy to schedule appointments that work for us.

My 11 and 3 year old both love Dr.Shaw and her hygienists. They are so gentle and kind to the kids and their office is fun for younger as well as older kids. I was a patient of Dr. Shaw’s over 20 years ago and she was as great then as she is now.

Amazing!!!!! Wonderful staff! My daughter looks forward to the dentist. She gets to see the tooth fairy, loves that she gets to ask and understand what all instruments are used for in her mouth. It’s a great environment and I can’t emphasize enough how great the entire staff is.

This first visit with Dr. Shaw and everyone in her office was exceptional. They are all very kind and my grandson was very comfortable.

My 2 year old is very shy and tends to get over stimulated easily, and that goes to say she isn’t the easiest of toddlers to deal with. Dr. Shaw is more than patient with her. She treats us with kindness and professionalism each and every time we see her. The office is clean and the waiting room is truly the coolest thing I’ve ever seen. All the staff we have encountered have been so welcoming and kind. I would 100% recommend Dr.Shaw to anyone looking for an amazing pediatric dentist.

Great dental practice. The staff is always friendly, very efficient. My kiddo used to get really anxious during dental visits and would cry every time. I switched to Dr. Shaw's practice and I haven't had an issue at any of our visits. My youngest goes here also and both of my kiddos look forward to their dentist visits. What a change from how they used to view the dentist! I am so glad I found these guys.

Four years later and we are still seeing Dr. Shaw and the amazing support staff at ABQ Pediatric Dentistry! Hands down the best, most caring and compassionate dentists for kids. Dr. Shaw loves what she does and educates parents and kids on how to take care of your teeth. Marie and Danielle provide excellent costumer service and Denise is a loving dental hygienist. No worries about the kids going to the treatment area for fillings, the kids are safe and the Dr. needs to perform her work with the kids without them being distracted with parents present. Also, this time allows kids to build trust and know that the dentist isn't scary. My kids always come out with a smile and a Popsicle. They tell me "mommy, it was great!" Suzanne, our dental hygienist, was the absolute sweetest and most patient with my 3.5 and 1.5 year old. Every single person in the office was so kind and helpful and made the experience so easy for myself and my kids. 1000% recommend this practice!

We were optimistic about scheduling an appointment at this office, especially after speaking with the receptionist who was very friendly and able to get us an appointment for our 4 year old quicky. However, we were disappointed to learn the day of the appointment that this office has a policy against allowing parents staying with their children for procedures such as fillings. We were not made aware of this policy at the time we made the appointment, and subsequently cancelled. While we can understand the reasoning we were given for the policy, we do not feel a child (especially a 4 year old) would be able to advocate for themselves adequately if needed, and therefore should not be without parents. Leaving this review so that other like minded families are aware of this policy.
