Portland Adventist has been the place I keep goung back to. I had both my daughters at Portland Adventist Hospital. I've been from Providence to St Vincent's to Salmon Creek, only to find I really like Portland Adventist. It's a smaller size hospital. Much easier to navigate. Also OSHU has partnered with them. For instance the Knight Cancer treatment Center now has a satellite home at Portland Adventist.

Edit: I emailed them a response at the address the "owner" left in the comments. After taking no time at all to respond to this post, now there is no response even though they stated they wanted to discuss this. It seems like this organization cares only about their public view and not actually taking responsibility for fixing the issue. I also called the hospital and asked if there was someone I could talk to and report this incident, I was forwarded to a voicemail and have not received a response. No accountability whatsoever, only lip service to the public. My friend was brought here by EMT's after she tried to kill herself because she was in so much pain, they were brought here and they physically assaulted her, tied her to a table so tight that her thumbs have no feeling two days later and may never again. They punched her, broke open her lip, twisted her neck and left her with only scrubs and a bra in a cold room. How can a hospital let alone an Adventist hospital treat someone like this? As an Adventist I am so ashamed to be associated with such a place.

I had a nosebleed for about 6 hours went to ER twice 3rd time they sent me home saying they can't do anything about it. I went to the Providence hospital and they took care of my problem. I lost about a quart and a half of blood ?

Not sure where to even begin here. This is the same hospital that almost killed me via a very poorly managed post surgery discharge, but then saved me when the meds I was advised to take sent my liver into stage 4 failure. I guess I would say that in my opinion, they need to hire more of their fabulous nurses and doctors and pay them a lot better. I spent 4 days in ER and I have no idea how those people go back there day after day. They are truly incredible and I think of them with gratitude every day.

With there being quite a few hospitals to choose from in the greater Portland area, so far I have had good results. However, unfortunately, one time my husband did not have a good experience. One word of advice, ( in my opinion I would say) if you are visiting and your visit did not go well, make sure you and/ or family member/members should definitely Express their concerns to the staff there at the hospital and even use Google maps review. I find it very helpful and useful

The doctor and those involved with the procedure were wonderful. Where this place fails is the completely useless staff in the billing department. I have been dealing with these people for months now regarding billing issues and yet even after multiple phone conversations, emailed paperwork, refunds given for money overpaid only to be charged the same amount the next month, extra charges after paying in full online without any clear explanation as to why, I am still stuck dealing with these incompetent and inept people. At least everyone I've dealt with so far.

The very worst hospital I've ever been to. It's an experimental hospital. You are taking your chances on being a lab rat. Quality control is very biased and only has concern for the Dr's. benefit not the patients. Their rating would be much lower if the patients that died in their care could comment ! Dr's there are unprofessional and are only selling procedures, labs and unnecessary surgeries w/o explanation or proper evaluation/prior observations. Almost impossible for a patient to obtain their own medical records cos Adventist doesn't want patients to know just how unprofessional and shady they really are.. No accountability from the medical staff, not knowing what they are talking about and almost killing patients. Just one of several encounter w/ them. Went to the ER cos I couldn't breath. They didn't notice the pain pump, I wasn't told about following surgery, numbing my rt lung so I couldn't breath and sent me home anyway. The quality control blamed me for not reading the brochure about the pump I didn't know they had inserted in my neck. If you ask any questions they consider you a problem patient. They cover up and ignore mistakes made by doctors causing even more problems for the patient! Stay away from Dr Moyer who only cares about experimenting on patients for his own benefit and prescribing “drugs” when his experiment doesn’t work. Dr Tella lies about everything and blames the patient! What was supposed to be a tendon attachment turned into a rotator cuffs surgery, that I did not ask for and now I need a full shoulder replacement ! His surgery is recognized by other professionals as being a "failure. Quality control, Lori Gaston, feels there is nothing wrong w/ failure to properly care for patients as long as they protect the Dr's and get paid.

Excellent service in ER and with Assessment services ie CT, Xray. Admission to a room continued to exhibit excellent health care service. Pleasant staff, good listeners, compassionate and caring. Not only are the folks interacting with us this way, but the support staff must be very caring. The building and treatment areas were immaculate. Medical professionals are overworked we are told in the media. Clearly that is true, but the staff at Adventist presented to us demonstrating patience, kindness and courtesy in every way although they too are likely running just as hard as the rest of the medical teams in other places.

I have never been a patient at Adventist and reading reviews made me nervous. I recently delivered my 4th child via C section and from the time I entered labor and delivery until the time I left, I felt very supported. Nurses Anne and Heidi where so great, Dr steen was amazing the lactation nurse Kerry was too and the anesthesiologist J.Noel was awesome as well. They all made sure I was doing okay during my times of interaction with them. They ensured I felt comfortable and knew what was going on. My delivery was so smooth. I highly recommend Adventist! Their labor and delivery crew was the best!

Worst hospital I have ever used. Went to emergency after being told by my doctor to go straight from their office to ER. It was for an EKG they performed which they thought had an anomaly. They got me in at the ER to have another EKG and blood test within an hour but did not see a doctor for over 7 -hours. I had a stress test/echocardiogram scheduled at my doctors, and the ER doctors request. I had the test performed and called my doctor two days later to see what the results were and they had not received it yet. I waited another day and had not heard back from my doctor so the next Monday I called and spoke with the test department. The doctor assigned had still not reviewed the results!!! This is a hear people! the stress of not knowing what is going on has been crazy! To be clear, the staff that has attended me have been really good as most people who do the actual work usually are, but the management of this place could get you killed due to lack of attention. Save yourself, do not go here!!!!

Most disappointing hospital stay I've ever had!! Waited fours hours for a doctor to see me and only bc I forced the issue. Never go back!! Don't choose PAH hospital!! Went in for echo card. Nancy at omitting Lied to me about a delay for my test, when she was the one who forgot to check me in. She blamed it on someone else, like the tech person!! But I’ve should have known. If you like waiting and have people lie to you, Adventist Hospital is for you. Don’t think about going here for medical!! Would not recommend!

Trying to get a procedure billed to my insurance since 3/1/2021. Many frustrating phone calls later still nothing. They aggressively take your money up front but are quite reluctant to give it back! I’m done with them! UPDATE! Still no refund and have not filed with insurance. I have filed a grievance against them thru my insurance company which will open an investigation. Also requested my records be transferred and they said they did not have any provider records on me. ?.

I had an ectopic pregnancy which made me stressed and scared probably due to so much contradicting information online. During this unpleasant time I was dreading going to labour and delivery unit to get my shot but the care I received there by Kris wasn’t unnoticed. She was so friendly but not over the top, very knowledgeable, she answered every question I had and I had many! She was just easy to talk to and made me pretty comfortable despite the circumstances. Awful experience. Had to wait 4 and a half hours in the waiting before I decided to just leave. There were barely any other people in the waiting room at the time too, and i was forced to sit there in pain. I understand understaffing and they have different rules due to Covid, but this was ridiculous. They did manage to do a few tests on me while I was there, but I called the next day to ask about the results and the lady I spoke to was incredibly rude. She said they don't give medical records over the phone and that I'd have to wait until Monday to check the charts or something, and she was really snippy about it. Never coming to this ER again, very disappointing.

Awful experience. I had an appointment through them that required a Covid pre-screening. I had an appointment for the screening scheduled already and they also told me over the phone I could also walk in to get it done so I drove there to be seen. They couldn't find the pre-screening appointment (even though I had an appointment a couple days later that required it), they couldn't schedule it in, they refused to work with me to get it done that day. Told me needed to reschedule and come back later. Thanks for a huge waste of time, I'm glad I don't have to deal with this hospital on a normal basis.

Adventist Hospital has paralyzed me. Beware going here! It's acceptable and legal for them to paralyze you and no one cares! Because of their incompetent doctors administering an epidural during birth I am now partially paralyzed. Going paralyzed is very painful! I completely understand that hospitals are very busy places and that doctors and nurses work very hard and do their best to help but its ridiculous that a patient in need of care has to wait over 4 hours to be seen. Either a staffing issue or some sort of problem with the way the hospital operates, either way it should be addressed.

The hospital receptionist is the slowest I have ever encountered. Like DMV slow. I got into urgent care in and out faster. There was only one person ahead of me and in had to wit 28 minutes for her to call me up and then another 26 for her to locate my order for an x ray. Checking in took longer than getting in the urgent care, seen by a physician and getting my x ray done. Maybe she needs to cut her nails so that she could type faster. And maybe manager nerds to tea in her how to multi task. Or maybe she needs a better manager to assign enough receptionists to check people in. I'm a cash customer so now I know to try elsewhere next time. Update: apparently the receptionist is new and her irresponsible manager left her on her own.

I don’t recommend this place, especially if you are a minority, have language barrier and relies on interpreter. They do treat you a lot different based on your “background”. All grandparents’ visits at this place throughout the years has concluded to why I will not be bringing my family members back here or recommend this place to anyone. Most nurses here seems to lack compassion, empathy and the will to work and care for their patients.(They don’t care if you die or alive, they hate their job, they don’t know anything, they don’t think it’s their problem that you’re their patient for the night/day!) Administrations were also unprofessional and rude. Covid-19 visit rule was not throughly explained at all to anyone. When we were unaware, we were rudely asked to leave without proper efficient communication on their ends. Doctor was okay, seems a bit new to the job, but attentive. My grandmother was at the ER and was discharged with continuous symptoms/problems. Conditions didn’t get any better for her being home. We had to admit her to OHSU instead and she received a much better care, service, diagnosis and treatment.

Was here for a drug screening before 1 pm and was told that they were on lunch till 1pm. Ashe didn’t come out from lunch till 115pm and then told me because others had appointments and I was a walk-in I had to wait so she could check them in first. After doing the one person that had an appointment she checked in the person behind me before checking me in. The fact that she was 15 minutes late from her lunch and pushed me back to end of line when I was here first is not ok. Now waiting 30 plus’s min to have a drug screen

My older brother had a seizure and stayed in this hospital for 10 days without receiving a shower. The floors in his room stayed so dirty and they didn’t change my brothers bedding nearly enough times. While he was staying in this hospital he developed a blood infection, mrsa. Probably caused by the terrible griminess of the place. My brother is immunodeficient and should have been treated carefully. My brother suffers from global aphasia and has a hard time communicating. The nurses treated him so badly. At one point telling my brother his only options were to stay there and get better or to be sent to hospice where they can put him on morphine to die. The lack of compassion is heartbreakingly not surprising from this xenophobic establishment. Of course they didn’t prioritize a disabled, overweight, black man. DO fuckkng BETTER!

My mom had a surgery by one of the doctors here; the appointment we had after the surgery the doctor wouldn't even listen to her, just told her that certain symptoms of her condition would go away in 3 months at the most. I came with her to her appointment today and she tried to explain that some of the symptoms were getting worse, the doctor didn't care to hear it. He interrupted her multiple times saying that those symptoms had nothing to do with her surgery (he said before that they would heal) and the whole reason she got the surgery was because of those symptoms that had "nothing to do with her surgery". The surgery itself went fine, but afterwards this doctor doesn't listen to what you say or anything. The other staff in the building are very kind and understanding though.

im a new patient (never gone to a doc before for primary care or anything beyond a immediate issue) came in for depression and all that jazz and mentioned i should prob get my uh, lady visit scheduled too while chatting with the nurse. wasn't prepared for it to happen right then but they said they could so i went ahead with it. nurse explained it all (made me feel a lot better, first time getting it done) and it was quick n easy and nothing i should have even been nervous about. the whole visit was very pleasant and welcoming, she basically held my hand (figuratively) and managed to get my answers through my crying lol. she wasnt pushy and had some info i wished i had before. anyway, my doc was amazing and was super easy to talk to <3 highly recommend Dr. Britney Menson A social worker from here has been callin to check in and help me figure out if a counselor is a good fit, I absolutely love her. She's great and super helpful

I really appreciate the nurses, cna, and the female doctor who comforted and treated me like a human being during an anxiety attack. I’ve had instances where health care staff have rolled their eyes at me and seemed unenthused, even laughed and acted as if I was a waste of space.

My surgery experience here was fine, everyone was nice and helpful. However I did accidentally leave my phone charger behind in my room post-surgery and someone took it home instead of giving it to the lost and found, so that’s annoying. Just one more thing I have to spend money on while paying off insane medical bills.

Over 3 years later I still suffer from a botched attempt of a routine procedure from an Adventist doctor. I get to suffer at vehicles driving by (severe back spasms) and am left untreated. To cover their tracks (there is a two year limit to sue) they made me go through months of proving I had a brain because I didn't feel like telling the nurse where I grew up. (Confirmed reason of not saying where I grew up was in my medical file). Boy was that a mistake! I wish I had never came here.

My 86-year-old mother was brought to Portland Adventist by ambulance after a fall in her apartment. During this time of the coronavirus, we were very concerned about her well-bring since she has several risk factors. From the moment she arrived I was in regular communication with nurses, doctors, and social workers assigned to her. Each one was professional, thoughtful, well-informed, and kind. These are good people. Whenever I called I reached someone quickly, I was listened to patiently, and my mother is leaving after six days much stronger than when she arrived. The social worker, Brian, helped arrange her placement and helped me with every transition detail. I live 3000 miles from Oregon, so his consideration was a lifesaver for me. I highly recommend this hospital.

The nurses and care team at Adentist gave my family and myself the best first time experience. I elected to go to this hospital as I had been told that the staff were non-judgmental, competent and compassionate. I was to be treated for a very large abscess on my outer right thigh. A couple of days before (prior to it taking a turn for the worse) I had gone to a non-profit walk in clinic where they prescribed me a common antibiotic and told me (slightly paraphrasing) that I would absolutely have to go to an ER, but hopefully the antibiotic would keep the infection at bay long enough for me to be able to incorporate the hospital visit into my work schedule, as according to the clinic staff, I would in all likelihood require overnight admittance and IV antibiotics. They kindly provided me with a generous bag of wound care supplies, including plenty of gauze, tape, hibiclens samples and OTC topical antibiotic cream. I couldn’t have hoped for a kinder and more attentive nurse. Unfortunately, due to the pharmacy they sent my antibiotic prescription to not being able to locate my insurance information, and me not being willing to shell out $140 for a necessary medication that should be covered by my insurance, I walked away without the doxycycline. Over the next two days the wound took a dramatic turn for the worse, a circular area about 2.5 inches in diameter had turned necrotic. I packed my bags, anticipating an overnight stay and headed here. I was taken into triage for assessment rather promptly and was treated somewhat dismissively by the nurses. I had an X-ray done to make sure it hadn’t spread to my femur as osteomyelitis is notoriously difficult to treat. After that I was called for a blood draw, after one unsuccessful stick the phlebotomist gave up. Considering that I was there for a massive infection, you would think getting a blood sample and cultures would be a priority to ensure that I don’t have, say, MRSA and aren’t contagious and therefore dangerous to those that come into contact with me. Nope, apparently not. After closer examination the doctor told me (and I quote verbatim) that I had done at home everything they would have done to treat it, ie lance and do my diy version of debriding and sterilizing the wound. Immediately after that I was handed a prescription for the exact same antibiotic the walk-in clinic gave me, and instructions to apply a honey mask. Mind you, this is a rather sizable open wound, not a zit. Honey, although anti-microbial, is also basically liquid sugar, and guess what loves sugar? Infectious bacteria! As I was being ushered out I asked if I could have a packet of gauze and was promptly told that “they don’t do that there”. What?! A non-profit clinic could give me gauze, but they couldn’t spare a few pieces? Riiiiight. I called my friend, a registered CNA trained in wound care for a ride home, and they were shocked, as they had seen the state I was in as well as the daily progression and were certain I’d be admitted at least overnight. The following day I filled my prescription and took as instructed. Due to my diligent care and obsessive application of silver gel, topical antibiotics and clean dressings, the first abscess began healing quite nicely, despite looking a bit like I got shot with a rusty musket ball. However, a second abscess developed, turns out the infection “tunneled” and created a fistula leading to another nasty wound. I treated it to the best of my ability with the limited resources at hand, but something tells me this could have been prevented had the hospital staff taken me seriously. I managed to get the first prescription from the non-profit walk-in clinic filled, and hopefully that is enough to halt it in it’s tracks and treat/prevent further injury and scarring (it’s disfiguring enough already). Sadly, no matter how well informed you are regarding your condition, you will be judged by your appearance and treated how they see fit. A depressing reality. TL;DR: Hospital dismissed the severity of my injury which led to serious worsening of the condition and and, on my end, even less faith in our healthcare system.

My mother has had nothing but trouble with her cancer here. Did any of these doctors actually go to medical school? They "forgot" to put her into twilight before surgery which led to her screaming on the table during the whole procedure. I'm tempted to take this to court. Doctor Kansal is a pathetic excuse for a man and a horrible doctor! Please! Go to a different hospital if you don't want to be treated like a test subject.

My husband was.forced to go to Adventist by ambulance due to emts not able to stabilize his afib enough to go to our regular hospital. After being checked into er he explained he had afib but this attack was much more painful and different than any before. He was given blood tests and ekgs also give a shot to bring his heart rhythm back to normal. His heart was slowing to normal speed but not there yet, and still fluttering when he was told he would have to give up his room as they had ambulances coming and were busy. He was brought in by ambulance with only sweat pants on, they gave him a scrub shirt and socks and while still having issues, they sat him in waiting room to wait for his ride to get there. Never again. I understand having to go to closest but if they couldnt finish taking care of him they needed to send him to providence when he was stable. Not at all pleased with this hospital for that. I cant give a zero star so had to give 1

I had a time I went here because my ear closed up over the back of my earring. The doctor was very aggressively tugging on my ear trying to dig the earring back out, which between that and the fever I had from my ear swelling up, I began to feel overwhelmed and light-headed. I told him I was going to pass out if he didn't stop for just a few seconds, and that I didn't want him to slice my ear open if I suddenly did pass out. He groaned and stormed out of the room. He didn't return for about 45 minutes and by then all of the anesthesia had worn off. He added very little, most of which missed my ear and went shooting across the room instead, and he then proceeded to slice my ear open despite me telling him it wasn't numb. I felt the entire thing and was telling him it the entire time, as he continued to work regardless. If I was going to have my ear sliced open without anesthetic I would have done it myself with sterile instruments I have at home. I then to clear the air apologized for getting faint, and he refused to acknowledge me, again stormed out of the room, and then his nurses would only discuss my care with my fiance and refused to talk to me directly. I would ask a question and they would then instead turn to my fiance and talk to him. On another occasion more recently, I had a family member who was taken to the hospital in an ambulance after a severe medical emergency, and the entire hospital staff refused to even let us know if that family member was still alive for over an hour, despite the fact that they had not only stabilized the family member but had even had the time to do tests and scans. They just kept saying over and over that they would tell us what they know when they have the full picture and would walk away. It wasn't until I finally said we can wait for the full picture, we just want to know if our family member is alive or not that they finally got someone to give us an answer. Meanwhile, while we were waiting they sat us in a consultation room for over a half hour, which made us all the more certain we were going to receive bad news. Overall, a terrible mishandling of an emotional situation, and no empathy whatsoever from staff.

I came in today due to an abcess i have no insurance and was in need of antibiotics. I cant speak due to pain and decided to lessen the impact i would use a tablet to write things out. My intake nurse was dimissive and demeaning. Didnt try to read or understand anything. Then when being taken back to be put in a room she thought she closed the door all the way and then proceeded to say rather unneeded things to the charge nurse. I have never felt so embarrassed or offended by this hospital as i do now. I dont know if ill ever come back if this is how their employees speak about patients while they think they arent within ear shot.

If I could give this hospital a ZERO I would!! Apparently they have an issue with homeless parking in their lots. 4wks ago I had appt here. Husband drove me, waited in our van. While I was conducting my medical business, a Hispanic man wearing an orange vest drove up to where my husband was parked. Told my husband they received a call that homeless were in the lot. Proceeded to DRILL my husband with questions... What room is she in? How long has she been in there? My husband became so upset he started shaking. The Mexican spoke perfect English all the while. When I came from my appt my husband was waiting for me. We went to the van. I immediately called security at which time he repeated to me what he told my husband... that this was not one of his security guards. The coverup began. I will NEVER step foot in this hospital unless I'm already DEAD! Long story short... my husband was accused of being homeless simply because we own a van!!! We were singled out! I am APPALLED that this even happened! Never even received an apology from the person who degraded and belittled my husband! And this hospital is supposedly based on CHRISTIAN BELIEFS?? LMFAO OVER HERE

I just signed up to change my Medicare primary hospital to Adventist Hospital Medical Center and after reading so many negative reviews followed by the same generic response from the owner on all of them, I've decided to stay with my current Dr. and Hospital. Saving money on premiums every month would not be worth my care or life.
