I spent 3 days in the ICU and received the very best care in all respects; doctors, staff, meals, and cleanleness were are stellar.
I completely regret using this medical facility for any of my health care. I do not recommend this place.
Impossible to speak to a human on the phone or get a return call even with pressing medical issues.
Dr. Elise Reinhard is a superb geriatric expert. She is compassionate and smart. She goes through each issue that I deal with and makes sure we follow up on each issues that need action. She has given me plenty of time and plenty of encouragement. And simply put, I like her.
I had thumb surgery with Dr. Rog last week. I believe he is a talented surgeon and has great communications skills. From a medical standpoint, I have no hesitation recommending Dr. Rog's services. Where the BMC organization could use some improvement is in their communication systems. The phone system is ineffective in reaching the relevant department. Too much hold time and getting tossed around the grid. They seem to be operating with 80's technology and need to come up to modern standards like a good patient portal, email system, and phones that work. This is a shame since again, the medical staff is top notch.
I've had nothing but good experiences and a PCP who actually cares about my health here. I took a lot of my health back and got a lot stronger from her provided care. I'm even LGBT and have had nothing but good experiences with this place and have experienced 0 discrimination here. Not sure why theres so many mixed reviews.
Good luck getting urgent care at the "urgent" care. They require state ID, their receptionist never picks up, just horrible service all around
My family has received medical services from excellent physicians as primary care physicians and pediatricians for our children since they were born. It is very disappointing to see that the BMC appears to be much more concerned with profits than they are with community health. It is understandable that they are not providing COVID vaccination for adults. However it is outrageous to see that they are planning on not providing COVID vaccination to children between the ages of 5 and 12. I wonder why. The only plausible explanation is greed. What can we expect from the money focused health care delivery system in our country and our city. So they are great doctors and they sure are greedy as a group.
Boulder Medical Center has become terrible in billing. They don't send statements on time. Their portal doesn't accurately and timely show the statements. Then they send it to a random company to take care of some outstanding balances which their customers are not aware of. Such companies send confusing letters with no reference to any service customers received. The worst thing is not any of that! When I called BMC and asked whether they use such a company (in my case Healthcare Payment Systems), they are unable/refusing to tell me that. What?? If you use such a company to handle outstanding balances, we should know that. Otherwise, any scammer can send us a letter demanding a random number of dollars. How can we determine the authenticity of such a letter? Finance/billing managers at BMC should be completely incompetent to handle these matters in that way. At least, first they should correct the billing issues. Then send me warning letters about any unpaid balances saying they are sending it to company X to handle if unpaid. I paid all balances on time as I received statements, even BMC tells me my balance is 0. But still I receive letters from Healthcare Payment Systems. BMC staff won't tell me whether they use Healthcare Payment Systems or they have sent anything to that company regarding my account. No serious business handle these matters in that way. I'll let my all my family and friends know this situation with MBC and tell them to stay away from BMC. Just to add to this... When the pandemic started, they started to stop accepting new patients, they turned them away at the entrance. If you are a new patient who needs to see a doctor, you were not allowed. That was very unethical and highly unacceptable in our beautiful and valuable Boulder community. This is the time for everyone to stay away from this monster business! P.S. After BMC's reply still they have not addressed the problem. They have failed to reached out to me, they have failed to understand that its their responsibility not my responsibility.
Terrible, terrible, terrible... Boulder Medical center has drastically gone downhill in the last few years. I strongly encourage you to go somewhere else. I have been trying to work with the patient advocate for months now on a billing issue to only get a rude call from the business office (2 months later) saying it is not their job to check insurance.
Messed up staff one of them physically put pressure on my shoulder when it wasn't necessary and very rude.
I’m sorry to say but Boulder Medical has changed their phone and walk-in system. It’s been frustrating trying to contact my primary physician. There is no direct way to contact the office. I like my doctor but I don’t know if I can continue to be a patient with this type of stress. I feel that Boulder Medical doesn’t want to hear from people. It’s become automated and not in a efficient way. I even tried to call the advocate number and there was a message that the person who answers the phone will be gone for weeks. Maybe, Boulder Medical doesn’t care if patients leave?
Spoke with the Dr. Helgan who couldn't listen to my individual needs as a person who suffers from a disability and she prescribed a medication I couldn't take and a diagnostic test I couldn't do. When I spoke with the so-called patient advocate, Dave, to get the referral changed to a test I could do - he said I have to "go somewhere else" to get the referral that they refused to provide it. In the meantime, leaving me suffering with chronic pain. Terrible unethical uncaring service here. I recommend all "go somewhere else." to find Dr.'s & "patient advocates" that actually care. I got a referral from another provider & you can be assured if they find something, Boulder Medical Center will hear from my attorney. Update: out of retaliation for this review and my complaining, I was “dismissed” from the practice. I went to make an appointment with a different doctor in a different unrelated department and was unable to do so. No notification. Just blocked from any medical care for sharing my experience.
I went to urgent care having an issue with my wrist. They told me that they were not excepting new patients at urgent care. So, I went to the Emergency room only for them to refer me back to the Boulder medical Center to see an orthopedic. I called several times, and got disconnected and hung up on. One girl who answered said “I don’t make appointments for them” and then transferred me without warning for me to be hung up on again. Finally, a girl answered and said she would call me back after the doctor looked at my x-rays. I have not heard back from them and it’s been three days. I have a medical issue that needs to be immediately seen, and now I have to wait to get a different referral for another doctor. I do not recommend this clinic for anything including urgent care. It’s too bad. I hear the doctors are wonderful, but the entire staff needs to be reevaluated EDIT: after two different referrals and even a doctor office making an appointment, for me that was not within my timeframe, I tried to call to reschedule this appointment to only be hung up on again.
I called to make an appointment and the girl hung up on me, then I called again and a guy answered and just did no want to do his job the transferred me to different department that no one answered. I just had to have my son pediatrician change the referral to different doctor! They have no manners or professionalism to talk to people! Can you imagine taking your 17 month old to a doctor that doesn’t have good ethics and professionalism?! No way!!! Don’t go there!!!
BMC is a Doc in the Box - The Fast food of Medical Care. I was a patient of Dr. Jose Delgado for a number of years, but never actually met him, nor saw him in person, nor did he ever call me to check in or relay a test result. Instead, Dr. Delgado ordered blood draws and labs so that he could prescribe medications. I would run out of my daily prescription and go for a refill only to be told by the pharmacy that the doctor ordered no refills. When I phoned BMC, I was told that the Dr. suspended refills and had ordered a test, but did not bother to notify me; not once, not ever. I learned about the requirements from the pharmacy and from a call to BMC. After each one of my subsequent blood tests, (which I had to call and ask about to find out they were ordered), I was never called or notified in any way about the result. I would then call the lab to find out these labs and any resultant changes to medication, then have prescriptions ordered to my pharmacy for pick up. At no time, did BMC employees nor Dr. Delgado notify me of the need for an appointment, nor the results of any of my labs, nor changes to my prescription. In my last interaction, I notified BMC that I was out of medication before Memorial Day weekend, and was told I would receive a call. Then was told I needed to schedule a blood draw, and see the doctor at his next available appointment in late August (three months away) before Dr. Delgado would order a refill? As per SOP, when I inquired as to the fact that I would then be out of medicine for 3 months, and indicated that the blood test would be worthless (without the medication the results would be off); I was never called back. I called the after-hours receptionist late on Friday after I realized no one was going to return my call. I was talked down to, interrupted, and humiliated by the person on the phone who thought it was acceptable to talk over me and completely disregard my requests to leave a message for the doctor. This person then told me the MD would call me; he did not. My medical issue leaves me with extreme nausea, and the BMC was content to let a patient suffer over the holiday weekend. Some days later, I visited BMC for poison ivy and was told I could not be seen for unknown "block" on my account, and directed to the ER at Foothills hospital. No one had any answers, but $650.00 and an ER visit later I received oral steroids and some hydrocortisone cream. Finally the "patient advocate" told me my account was removed, and asked if I had received a letter. Over 2 weeks later I received this letter from the CEO that dismissed me as a patient. Over 10 years I had been a patient at BMC. I never had the MD tell me to come in for an office visit, a check-up, health evaluation, NOTHING. I really had no need to see the MD, and until the poison ivy episode I had not come in for care. The first and only time in a decade that I came to the office, I was denied care. No explanation at all for 2 weeks and finally a letter in the mail. This company cares about one thing only, money. You can do vastly better; if you are looking for someone who cares about their patients, steer clear of BMC and Dr. Jose Delgado. They could not care less about you, and you don't need to suffer for no reason as this town is full of great health-care specialists and doctors that care about their patients. Jose Delgado is not one of them, and frankly is not fit to hold their clipboards.
I wouldn't recommend Boulder Medical Center to anyone. It's a very old facility and does not compare to modern facilities like Kaiser. I found it very odd that the lab is giving out paper cups to place your urine and it looks like a makeshift lab at that with the nurses all sitting on their phones... odd for a medical facility and in Boulder no less. I won't go into the experience I had with the doctor and nurse, both strange - nurse was very green and doctor had troublesome bedside manner. This place and the staff don't meet expectations.
Very clean and well laid out. I particularly like the drs I see.
I visited Urgent Care late on a Friday afternoon and was seen immediately and had excellent caring service from receptionist and patient and detailed explanations and wonderful care from nurse and Dr. Zishka for a broken bone. Thank you!
Dr Stephen Siegel permanently & physically crippled me from his treatment with Levofloxacin -- a potent black box drug belonging to the fluoroquinolone antibiotic class, which is known to cause debilitating musculoskeletal problems -- in a vain attempt to rid me of abdominal pain. I'm 30 and now have a body that feels twice that age and suffer from long-term fluoroquinolone disability. The FDA suggests median duration of adverse musculoskeletal symptoms is between 1 and 2 _years_. In some cases, the disability is permanent. First and foremost, he failed to gain informed consent from me. This is a legal and ethical violation for a clinician. He failed to warn me of dangers of the drug, the black box warnings, or that he even was planning a prescription change. Ten months onward, I still I suffer musculoskeletal pain every day after taking this drug _known_ to cause musculoskeletal problems. He & his clinic have washed their hands of me and refuse to pay for my physical therapy. They ruined my life, and now have zero interest in helping me make it right, unless I pay them more. I can't do the things I love. I can't do my professional work without pain. I can't walk without pain. I can't use my hands without pain. I can't even do the things I hate, like chores. They've taken my best tool from me (my body, my hands). I never had musculoskeletal problems before taking this drug, and then overnight, after taking a drug known to cause this... color me shocked, I developed crippling global tendonitis. This drug class has advisements against it in Canada, Europe, and even the US from the FDA: it should only be used in life threatening infections due to the dangers of long-term disability. Yet cowboys like Dr Siegel continue to hand them out like candy (he bragged about how much he's prescribed them). Newsflash: the vast majority of chronic prostatitis is found to be non-bacterial, ie it doesn't respond to antibiotics -- stop using antibiotics without a positive bacterial analysis, and stop using them as a first line defense. This is a further abuse of antibiotics. To add insult to injury, he failed to remediate the original abdominal pain I was seeing him for (this is called a misdiagnosis). I was needlessly crippled. The answers from Dr Siegel and other doctors have simply been: "Gosh, that's really rare." How does that help me? Saying that merely makes you feel better, and serves to invalidate my current condition. Would you tell someone with a genetic condition that "they're rare" -- what is wrong with you? You're emotionally tone deaf and need to check your bedside manner. And if it's so rare, why is there a black box warning from the FDA? And if it's so rare, why have the entire continent of Europe (European Medicines Agency) and Canada advised against using it in any case that isn't life threatening to protect patients from these exact adverse reactions? Your "standard of care" is gravely broken. A cursory search through NCBI research data shows adverse reactions to fluoroquinolones aren't as rare as clinicians claim (which is anecdotal evidence anyway). You can almost guarantee underreporting of adverse reactions when doctors like Stephen Siegel are failing to discuss & disclose dangers of FQ class drugs -- how are patients to correlate their reactions effectively without having been informed? Fluoroquinolones permanently damage mitochondria throughout the entire body, causing musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, central & peripheral nervous system, dermatological, and mental health adverse symptoms, which can in rare cases be fatal. This man's casual attitude towards antibiotics has ruined my life and leaves me in daily physical pain. He violated my agency (and the law & ethics) in failing to disclose black box warnings, and has no interest in helping once the damage is done. If you're looking for a first rate clinician who does whatever it takes to help you and makes data driven decisions, for your physical & mental health sake, don't even set foot in the same building as this man.
I needed a pharmacy item delivered quickly (due to illness). The BMC pharmacy made it happen AND added a piece of chocolate! Thank you and well done.
Laura Erben was a good doctor 10 years ago. However, I would suggest to any new patient seeking to establish care to go to a different practice altogether. Dr. Erben has become extremely limited in her scope of what she is willing to treat. She has a dangerously narrow definition of what she is comfortable treating. I believe she could benefit from some continuing education to best serve her community in practicing medicine, in listening skills, in expressing empathy, & thinking outside of the box. Sadly I have had to leave the practice & go elsewhere because of her inability to support any medical needs. In times of crisis she is absent, does not follow through, and is misinformed about critical community resources. There could have been fatal consequences due to her negligence and apathy. It is time that BMC & Dr. Erben are forced to revisit the Oath they took in practicing medicine and start practicing differently for the sake of peoples’ quality of life. If you become a doctor you need to WANT to help people. Clearly this sentiment is missing at BCH and with Dr. Erben. In addition to my experience, my husband recently saw her for an injured back & she did nothing for him. After 2 urgent care visits & seeing her, finally another dr ordered the MRI. Today we got the results that he has 2 fractured vertebrae in his back! And she ignored him. Because the doctors ignored him for 3 months he may have missed the opportunity for a timely neurosurgery that can fix the injury. So Dr. Erben goes on with her life while we live with the consequences of her lack of care for the rest of our lives. I am disappointed & saddened that this is our healthcare system. It has to change by us as patients telling the truth about our experiences. And lastly, whoever is new in the scheduling department is so incredibly rude & patronizing. I’m shocked at how they treat us over the phone. Please hire kinder people as part of your team.
There is virtually nothing good to say about this place. Witness my latest interaction. I've been suffering with terrible diarrhea for over a week. I saw my doctor and she ordered lab tests including a stool sample. I dropped it off on Wednesday morning at the lab and the test results never came back. Apparently, they sent my lab samples to North Carolina and I wouldn't hear back until next week. Who does that? The accounting department is terrible here. They routinely send us bills when we paid the co-pay on site. They've billed us for stuff our insurance company pays for. Honestly, I wouldn't go here at all, except that I do really like my primary care doctor.
Came for orthopedics and stood for an hour in an overcrowded waiting room. This place needs some focus on organization and time management.
Very rude staff
I am only giving this review because of my Dr. Dr. Willuhn is amazing and five stars. The other staff is so so. I had an emergency surgery that required a physical. I called the office to set one up and described the urgency. They didn’t really care and would not let me in on such short notice. After calling around to other places I decided to call back, bypass scheduling, and leave a message for my doctor specifically.. She saw me the next day. The doctors are wonderful but the staff is poor. Even though I live farther away I continue to drive here because she and her assistant go above and beyond!
Dr. Rho and her assistants never answer the phone and would not be recommended for people with medications. They often forget to refill them so the pharmacy has to call me and tell me that it’s not coming because my doctor forgot or sent it to the wrong place. Like all the other reviews mention as well, good luck with the string receptionists whenever you need to get in touch with someone, and the horrendous billing system they use.
I read many sources that said how painful a Xiaflex treatment for my hand would be. Dr. Rog was a rock star. No major pain just a minor irritation at the injection site. Not only is he great, he's a friendly down to earth guy.
I was referred to this medical center from the Boulder Community Hospital ER room three days ago. The secretary did not understand the urgency of my situation and did not book me correctly or help communicate the urgency and seriousness of the condition. I thought I was scheduled for surgery today but now it's just a regular consult. if it's a consult for the initial assessment and for me to consent to the surgery, I should have been put in as soon as possible not three days later. Terrible communication from their end and not treating me like a human being. Just because I'm on Medicaid does not mean I'm a second-class citizen. Now my finger feels infected and I have to wait even more time before the surgery or deciding go back to the ER room.
Lindsay Boyers is best doctor I've every had. Her treatments are effective, she is observant, and you can tell she really cares about the health of her patients. She also went out of her way to find me a more cost efficient way of buying my meds. Really gentle on working on my fingers. I wish I came to her sooner. She spotted some problem spots and took care of them before they could become dangerous. Thank you Lindsay.
They denied a man a Covid vaccine over an outstanding $243.00 bill for medical treatment. Shameful and unethical.
Cancel the elderlies covid shot over a 200 unpaid bill. Should be ashamed of themselves
I originally decided on this medical center because of the reviews. I just recently scheduled an appointment today and they booked an appointment the next day first thing in the morning. Personally I have a good doctor and do not want to disclose the name because I respect privacy. If you read the reviews, a majority of them are under 10 reviews. I would recommend this office and I'm not a Colorado native.
This review is specific to the insurance billing/administration and not the care received. Even if you "pay in full" at the time of your appointment, expect to receive two more bills from various departments with their own billing practices that operate within Boulder Medical. This makes for a confusing patient experience and is ridiculously burdensome from both a patient and administrative overhead perspective. Please unify your insurance billing. Medical emergencies are stressful enough without the added time, complexity, and uncertainty that comes with receiving up to 3 different bills for one visit. Very disappointing.
Dr. Rog performed surgery on my badly-injured hands (from a bicycle collision with a truck); pretty much having to rebuild my left hand. Excellent bed-side manner, very skilled, I couldn't be happier with the results. Highly recommend. Follow-up visits at the BMC went very well; they're doing a good job with Covid and almost always on-time.
What about covid-19 priority vaccination for your asthmatic and diabetics patients over 70? .... Funny that ALL the patients at Boulder Community Health (BCH) over 70 are being vaccinated (regardless if diabetic or not)? Apparently your patients are good for their money.... No concern about major complications to covid-19 if diabetic or asthmatic!!!! Who cares, it is not BMC administration concern.... Answer received from the BMC administration when asked about this issue: Please refer to the state of Colorado.... Next time, my bill settlement will be sent to the sate of Colorado too..... Shame on you... Please call Boulder Community health (BCH) Management to learn how to take care of YOUR OWN CUSTOMERS WHEN NEEDED,,,,
Great people, kindness, concern and ability to make you well !
The medical services are good and I have never had a problem with the doctors there, but the billing is horrible and unprofessional. They are not clear about charges in advance, miscommunicated the cost of services, and delayed bills until almost a year after the service. That is unacceptable given that many forms of medical payments like FBA and HRA accounts are time limited. I would avoid using their services if you want to have any clarity on billing. For context, I tried contacting their billing department multiple times over an issue where they billed me for something almost a year after the service. They were generally unhelpful and said it was the patient's responsibility to know when they owed something even if the patient never got a bill. This was even after they admitted that they knew about the bill in march and had a glitch in their system that meant they didn't send it until the end of September (for a service that happened a year earlier). Sad to leave a place because of its billing, but clarity in medical bills are important and BMC does not provide that for their clients.
The Medical Center has moved the lab to the front lobby right next to the Urgent Care (about 20 ft away), also in the front lobby. There were numerous elderly people waiting for the lab, as people were streaming into the building, passing by these people. Assuming that possible Covid patients might come to Urgent Care, it seems that the Medical Center has created a high risk for the most vulnerable people in the community, especially given the rising numbers of Covid in Boulder. Plus, the front desk employees continuously lowered their masks to chat with one another while checking in patients!
I went in to see Dr. Peart for cosmetic procedures. All of the staff was incredibly hospitable and attentive from the moment I walked in the door. Dr. Peart is professional, knowledgeable and incredibly talented in the work she does. She really knows how to make her patients feel right at home. I would recommend her to any friend or family member seeking top notch care in the Boulder area.
Sub par orthopedic care for my daughter and myself for injuries we each experienced over the last year. Super disappointing for a Boulder, CO medical facility. I have more details I could share.
I expected more progressive health care in Boulder. I've seen three doctors associated with BMC-Boulder (2 specialist, 1 general) and all were practicing the same medicine they learned in medical school 20-30 years ago. All (even the female MDs) had a patronizing attitude toward women, especially older women.
I broke my ankle on Sunday and the first appointment with primary physician that I was able to get is on Thursday. One of the Dr. Rho’s receptionists named Sydnee is always rude and dismissive on calls. And I’m not sure why do I pay for insurance if I can’t get to see the doctor sooner if my bone is broken or deal with unprofessional receptionists or being sent to voicemails or constantly redirected to other lines. How is this helpful and how is this a medical facility that is supposed to help?
I went to see a doctor her a few months ago and had an overall great experience. I'm now trying to schedule some additional lab work and am finding it impossible to get ahold of someone who can help. I get forwarded through a string of receptionists and eventually reach a phone that eternally rings or get sent to voicemail. I am moving to a different provider because this has been so difficult.
BMC has the worst phone system! Your outgoing telephone message is painfully long and you NEVER get through to your doctor. Every time I call, I must listen to this overly wordy BMC message before getting the answering machine again. You never know if your call was received and you are stuck waiting , waiting, waiting or a return call and test results from BMC. Please get a better phone answering system! I like my doctor, but if I can't reach (or his PA), then I like BMC less - and the phone system is not the doctor's fault. I am considering looking for another clinic because of your lousy phone setup.
Love this place great staff great doctors.
Dr. Helen Rho is knowledgable, dedicated and committed to your health. I thoroughly recommend her for your primary care needs.
Boulder medical center is filled with down to earth, and professional people.
I have been here for urgent care multiple times, primary care and urology. All exceptional visits with each and every doctor.
I've lived in Boulder for a year and have a pretty extensive medical history. I first went to Boulder Medical Center's urgent care on Broadway in January '19 due to a broken finger. The doctor I saw there seemed very unconfident as she tried to reset the bone. She didn't give me an indication that this was going to be an effective solution. After wrenching on my hand for several minutes, she looked around for her staff, or someone to splint my broken finger. My partner had to go out into the hallway to find someone who could help. He saw some nurses sitting at the desk, not doing anything to help and mentioned that the doctor could probably use some help. Fast forward - in July, I was seen by Erin Halper Sanchez. I had some tests done and it took the office a month to call me back with the results. In fact, they never called me or left any voicemails - I called them and after a brief apology, they told me that yes, they'd had the results. Why hadn't anyone called? The doctors that I've seen, along with the PAs are all incredibly rushed, take zero time to listen to what's going on and nod sympathetically in a very unhelpful way. This is the fast -food experience of medical clinics in the area. I was seeing Dr. Blattner for preventative care and will be looking for another OB/GYN who is patient and who listens. It is scary to have medical issues and a change in your body and the last thing you need is to feel unvalidated and to have someone shrug off symptoms. Do yourself a favor and find care elsewhere.
I went to Boulder Medical Center to see if the new GP would be a good doctor to have. On the way to the medical center, I was delayed for about 10 minutes by heavy traffic resulting from an accident. When I arrived at the medical center, I was about 5 minutes early for my appointment, but I had to wait in line to pay my copay first before visiting the doctor's office. Consequently I was 5 minutes late for my appointment at the Doctor's office. The receptionist told me I was late and had to reschedule. I looked around the waiting room and there was no one there! There was absolutely NO reason for me to be denied service ESPECIALLY after I had paid form my copay, which I never got reimbursed for. Further they had the audacity to send me a letter informing me that I had not shown up for my appointment and that, for once, I wouldn't be charged for this and not to do it again. Suffice to say that I fired both the GP and the medical center. Their customer support model is terrible. Go to UC Health. They don't have this problem! That's where my new GP is and I couldn't be happier.
Dr mark hunter done ear implant awesome operation needed no pain meds healed perfect thanks dr hunter
Have had great experience with every doctor we’ve seen here. The docs are friendly and caring. We’ve been to Doctors Dughi, Levine, and Doyle, and they have great bedside manners. Will keep them until they retire! All the employees we have ever dealt with have been friendly and excellent at their jobs as well, including the lab and imaging.
Fast service and people who are eager to help you. Medicine and diagnosis like anything in life can be complex and often times devastating. They do a great job here communicating and being empathic to a patients need. Will be coming back!
Angie Riddleberger is an amazing dermatologist! She takes great care and time every visit. She is easy to talk to and has great bed side manner. I highly recommend her!
I have been Angie Riddleberger's patient for over a decade and she is the best! I have referred many people to see her for her expertise in dermatology, attention to detail and patience when performing procedures. She is caring and kind, with a great sense of humor and an extensive knowledge base.
Seems like all employees there are more concerned about what they are doing after work than caring for patients. The doctors don't seem to understand patient concerns nor do they care to get to the root of it. Terrible waste of time for them to just cast judgment rather than work with the patient to figure out a good plan. Find yourself a good doctor, not a convenient one. Don't insult me with your generic response saying you care about patients. This place cares about money.
I have been a patient of Dr. Paula Mandes for years. She continues to try the latest medications to treat my chronic headaches. She is always personable and I value her expertise. I would recommend her highly to anyone!
Dr. Rog is the best! He recently performed wrist surgery on my left hand after a break last summer. I requested local only and was awake during the entire procedure. He has a great bedside manner and wonderful sense of humor. I have healed completely and no longer have any pain!
Terrible people. Deplorable customer service and business practices. They will look for any reason to bill you more money for services not covered by your insurance policy. On top of all that, a nurse/PA nearly injected me with the wrong vaccine until I stopped her to double check what she was doing. The facility is also pretty old and disgusting. I won't be returning.
I have been seen at the Dermatology Department a couple of times and it has always been a positive experience. The providers are very knowledgeable and the staff is friendly. I have recommended the Medical Center to multiple family members and friends.
This Medical Center is filled with very unprofessional and unorganized people who offer very little help with actual serious health problems. I have had the same GP for over 2 years now and I have dealt with scheduling mistakes numerous times as well as over-prescribing antibiotics for months on end instead of further addressing any deeper issues and the overall feeling that I'm receiving lazy and negligent care on many occasions. I don't understand how a network of health care "professionals" can be riddled with so many errors, rude personnel, and script-happy doctors. I am beyond disappointed with the care I have received here.
I am glad to have met Dr. Mendes, who was very courteous and open in discussing and providing treatment for chronic migraines. As usual, I was nervous at first, being in a doctor's office, but Dr. Mendes' calm and direct mannerism put me at ease throughout the appointment. I left with my questions answered. I also felt better about the prospect of dealing with my condition through her suggestions of holistic lifestyle changes and with prescriptions that I am assured are appropriate for the type of migraines I have.
I visited Dr. Paula Mendes for my cluster headaches that I've been having every few years over the last 25-30 years. After I had originally found that breathing O2 was effective in making my clusters rapidly disappear, I've been using O2 for 15-20 years with good success. In the past the docs I've discussed my cluster headaches with were not at all or not very familiar with the affliction. But then none of them were neurologists. Dr. Mendes is a neurologist & was very familiar with clusters, migraines, tension, etc type headache. She offered alternative treatments for my clusters since O2 was not always available to me, eg on a flight or at a destination where my O2 tank could not be available. Specifically, she prescribed Lidocaine Q-tipped into my nostril or healthy doses of melatonin. Since I seem to be nearing the end on my 3 month long cluster period (hence the name), I haven't had a serious headache since visiting her about 10 days ago so haven't tried the Lidocaine or melatonin. Dr Mendes was very caring, asked many questions of me & let me answer completely, took copious notes and gave me a prescription for additional O2 at the supplier of my choice. And she gave me a general Rx for use during travels should I need O2 at locations away from home. We were extremely pleased with the attention from a very knowledgeable neurologist & will follow up with her as she recommends. Perhaps just the experience was enough to hasten the demise of my cluster attacks during this period!
Was recommended to visit Dr. Stephen Siegel for an abnormal count on one of the reports we received. Dr. Stephen was good to communicate and work with but it was a terrible experience with the nurse and billing is still confusing us! The nurse had no idea what to do. She was completely clueless on what the procedure was and what samples were needed to be collected. We have been charged for all her mistake and the overall experience was abysmal! The nurse took my pulse using her watch and did not use the machine which was right next to her on the desk! Why would we pay 100s of dollars for someone doing guesswork on our treatment. What responsibility is this. I had a follow up appointment but I would rather look up google and visit someone other location than this! BEWARE.
I am extremely grateful for Dr. Rho and her staff. I have had nothing but extraordinary care from her. She is personal, compassionate and extremely thorough in her treatment planning. She takes the extra step of collaborating with other medical providers as needed and personally follows up to ensure I am comfortable with the recommendations discussed. She clearly wants the best for her patients. Her staff is beyond welcoming (even to little ones who have to accompany their mommy to appointments!) and efficient. I would highly recommend Dr. Rho for internal medical care! -Suzanne Larson
Horrible place, horrible people, horrible customer service and horrible doctors! ALL doctors. They sent me a letter saying they would no longer see me because I asked for a refund because I received no medical attention so me being logical should not pay for soemthing I didn’t get. I’m 20 weeks PREGNANT! And also sent a letter to my ONE YEAR old stating the same thing that they would not see her. If this HONEST review doesn’t change your mind about these “people”, “doctors” specifically dr JOHN KELLEY who doesn’t really care about your well being just about the money you pay him. Always takes HOURS to be seen, he NEVER sees you at the time of your appointment no matter how early or on time you are.
I cannot say enough how much I appreciate both Marie and Lisa in the Optical Department. These two ladies are just gems! It was time for new glasses and Marie helped me find just the right glasses that I will enjoy wearing for years to come! She knew the right styles that would fit my face shape and personality. I told them both about my extreme dry eye condition and they both helped recommend eye drops that really worked and are really helping. Lisa even found some eye goggles for me that I can wear at night to help with my dry eye issues. These two ladies are just angels, so kind and caring. I would highly recommend working with them .
Do not go here, Doctor John Kelly is a pill pusher and he Verbally abuses his Patients, Terribly unprofessional, How is this guy still in practice in Boulder its 2019 people plus a dirt facility that should say it all.....ps they fraudulently billed my insurance when there was no visit what a scam
Had no issues with the doctor I saw and the staff who worked in her office, they were all caring and wonderful. The main issue with my visit is the people at the reception desk as soon as you walk in the main entrance! First off, I was told the wrong location so I ended up being late to my appointment once I found the right location. Second, when you call the number that’s on google, nobody answers! Online it says this location open at 8:30, which it actually opens at 8. When I called, it was just right after 8 but I couldn’t get through to anyone to let them know I would be late because the phones automated system said it was past office hours. Once I arrived to the correct location, I was greeted with the rude people at the reception desk. Being a new patient, I didn’t quite know where to go and did not see the sign for where the line starts so I waited patiently at the front desk. Nobody looked up or greeted me at all, it was like they were purposefully trying to not acknowledge me. Then I spoke up to say something and the older gentlemen with glasses and gray hair yelled at me and told me to stand behind the line. I have never ever been treated like this from any previous healthcare providers. I went and stood behind the line and of course nobody’s in line so he calls me up right away. It just seemed ridiculous the way he treated me and then he told me to go upstairs to reschedule, which is hard for me to do since I have a tight work schedule and I specifically took time off this day to go to the doctor. Once I got upstairs, I was treated very nicely and the doctor came to see me right away even though I was late to me appointment. Afterwards, I went to get some lab work done and everyone one there was just as nice to me. Unfortunately, I had to go back to the front desk before I left to provide my insurance information since the guy did not bother to take it the first time. The women who helped me this time was a little friendly but gave such a hard time about taking my insurance. She needed so much information which i was unable to provide since I didn’t know and said she couldn’t take my insurance without it. I have never ever had a problem with healthcare providers in the past accepting the insurance until this time. After arguing for her to take it, she finally accepted and I left. Then not even 20 minutes later, I get a call from the business office saying they were able to take my insurance without any issue and that they didn’t need the info the lady was asking for!!! What a joke of a staff the works at the front, I hope you guys consider finding people better suited for that job because I was ready to turn away and never return to your healthcare provider.
Staff was friendly and easy going. Recommended out multiple options, didn't feel like I was getting up-sold on unnecessary things.
Why don't you have a way to make appointments online. It's super frustrating to be on hold with some automated message only for it to get cancelled or to go to voice message. It would be so much easier if you just had appointment slots that you could post online
My 93 year old Dad had a wonderful experience with the Ophthalmology Department at Boulder Medical Center. We arrived early, and they saw him promptly. He was very pleased with the care provided. He also thought the design of the building in general was very accommodating to seniors.
Just avoid Margaret M. Varner... so rude and condescending... Plus they will overcharge you for co-pays if you are not careful. Then you will get nonsensical bills in the mail saying you owe an additional $5 or 10$... have to talk to useless people on the phone who say "the investigation" will last a month... and try to get someone behind a desk to listen... BUT i went to an Aetna Rep and they fixed it fast... now they owe me money...
I scheduled an appointment for 8:30 tomorrow for my ears weeks ago. When I got the appointment reminder it said see you tomorrow at 10:30 - I am very busy and told her specifically I couldn't do anything later at 8:00 or 8:30. Called today asked if there was a mix up and she said no she scheduled me for 10:30 when I told her that wasn't right she had already filled the 8:30 spot which was supposed to be my appointment weeks ago. Very disappointed.
Having everyone under one roof is very nice! nice staff too!
Horrible customer service, even over the phone I felt like the receptionists couldn't wait to have me off the line
Was charged $190 for removing a wart, and when I called the billing office questioning what could have possibly cost this much (even though the procedure should have only cost $116 even according to medicare), I was given a condescending response about how the patient is supposed to know what the procedure costs beforehand. Not a big deal here, but a really big deal in the case of a larger procedure! Definitely not going here again due to dismissive staff and opaque pricing
Been on a wait line for 25 minutes and counting... I was just calling to confirm the hour of my appointment.... this place is run by monkeys I’m canceling this appointment
The doctors here are really not knowledgeable imo. I took my wife to the BMC Broadway location, as she was coughing and had high fever for a week. This is what the doc did: They made my wife go through painful tests (strep/influenza tests), rather than really diagnosing her obvious symptoms. And instead of giving some effective medicines, the doctor advised her to eat honey and wrote her up a low dosage of ibuprofen. It finally cost us 2 hours of our time and $200 for the visit/tests/advice.
My urologist retired after treating me for prostate cancer for over 13 years and recommended Dr. Fronczak last summer. I was nervous to see a new DR because of the long relationship I had previously. Dr. Fronczak ordered up some tests and a biopsy, no change in my condition, which was great news. She supports me in the alternative approach I've chosen. Since then she has addressed ED with very good results. I highly recommend this caring, knowledgeable, competent physician.
Run for you life! I have no idea what the criteria is here to hire doctors. Perhaps that they like to ski? I went for a breast exam with my OB because of a lump and he said it was nothing. I demanded a mammography. The mammography showed it was nothing so I demanded and ultrasound. The ultrasound showed something. I got a biopsy done which after almost a month sowed I had breast cancer. The tumor was 2.7 cm!!! I almost died in the hands of these inept doctors.
Charged me over $100 for an immunization my husband on the same insurance got for free at King Soopers. The billing rep was arrogant and dismissive on the phone. Will never again see a doctor at this place.
My regular doctor and nurse (Dr. Lerner and Stephanie) are always kind, helpful, and proactive. Today I also have to give a shout out to the ladies in the lab. I had some insurance problems and they were never judgmental or mean, instead they were compassionate, helpful, and really tried to help me solve my problem. I was having a bad day and they helped turned it around. Great staff here!
We have gone to the Boulder Medical Center for years. We love that it has an Urgent Care, X-ray department, lab and most of our doctors all under one roof. My most recent experience has been with the new orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Rog, who is an upper extremities specialist, handy to have since I broke my upper humerus (twice). Dr. Rog is a wonderful human being and a very competent orthopedic surgeon. When I fell a second time and re-broke the arm in the same place, he was very kind and supportive. My arm is healing well and he has walked with us through the entire process of healing after surgery and beginning PT. Another reason why we are glad to be BMC patients!
My right foot was infected and swollen so I made an appointment with Dr. Birmingham, a Podiatrist, who wrote me an Rx and advised me that if it didn't get better I was to go to the ER and have them give me IV antibiotics. That's what I ended up doing and was told that the medication Dr. Birmingham prescribed contained penicillin, which is clearly included in my information with him as allergy. As it turned out I did not have reaction, but all that means to me is that I got really, really lucky.
Boulder urologist is one of the worst disrespectful people I've delt with I waited 6 mnts for an appointment then they try to reschedule me out another month because they lost my referral. Extremely disappointed do not recommend.
I have visited here multiple times and have always been impressed with the staff, both the medical staff and the administrative staff. They all seem focused on getting things done effectively and efficiently, which I appreciate. It's great to get all my disparate medical needs taken care of in one building.
Parking is good for Boulder and easy access. I'm sure the doctor's are fine there, but we've encountered reception staff that seem clueless. I scheduled a regular check up for my husband with an extensive blood panel to check out everything. When he showed up for the appt. the receptionist at the internal medicine department told him it was just a meet and greet, for our $50 copay and thankfully my husband had the wherewithal to ask then to draw the blood anyway, he wasn't wasting this visit to chat. My husband sees a doctor about once every 10 years. There was essentially no exam and the doctor spent very little time asking my husband questions and talking to him. He's the kind of doctor who if you go in and tell him you have high blood pressure and need a script for hypertension, then he will know what to do, but otherwise, forget about it. He took no interest in my husband's health at all. Forget these fake western doctor's and go to a Chinese Medicine specialist, that is where you will get good medicine, relief, cures, and not just handed a prescription. Then, I call up and ask them to mail the lab results and that takes them 2 months. I had also asked they mail a copy of the prescription because we get some of our products from Canada because they are cheaper there. They never included the prescription like they said they would. Then we get a bill of almost 1,400.00 for a blood panel. Clearly they had not billed insurance, no insurance adjustment was showing up. Even though my husband gave them a copy of his new insurance card, rather than input this into their system, they sent it to some old insurance they had in their system. Wow, that's a level of incompetence that is simply uncalled for when you consider we sacrifice 20,000 of my husbands pay each year to have this plan and now we are paying nearly 8,000 out of pocket a year because the plan covers so little. Another argument for another day. So, in terms of organization, this place gets an F. There could be good doctor's there but Dr. Delgado is not one of them, and be prepared for lots of administrative screw ups.
