This practice is GREAT! As an out of town visitor to Boulder, I made an emergency appointment and was seen within an hour of calling. Fabulously efficient, friendly staff and effective. I wish I could take the dentist back to Chapel Hill with me!

This was the most awful dental experience I have ever had. Went in for a teeth cleaning and told the cleaner that I had a tooth that was catching on my tongue and that my gums around that tooth have been swelling. When I saw the doctor, he was more concerned with polishing my front teeth (which I did not request) than attending to the pain/rough catch that I had been feeling. He rushed thru polishing, when I got up out of the chair to check out, it felt worse than when I came in. I spoke up and asked that he look at it again, in which he was incredibly rude stating he saw nothing, that this was not his work and he was only to do touch ups today. I offered to come in on another day. He began to jam tools into my mouth in the area I had pointed out causing more pain, to the point of tears. He continued jamming, and then said all good - thats all I can do, and walked away quickly. Unprofessional, rude, painful, do not go to Boulder Canyon Dental.

The staff here is so great, professional and knowledgeable. I had a broken tooth during the start of the Covid lockdown and they worked me in and fixed my tooth quickly with a crown that they make right there in the office. Dr Jon Smith made me feel at ease during the procedure and I hav had no issues at all with my crown. Dr Amy treated my two young kids for their first cleanings and was so great (and quick!) with them when they were nervous. Plus Dr.Amy does Botox too! All in one visit! I highly recommend Boulder Canyon Dental!

The team at Boulder Canyon Dental is so wonderful! They’ve gone above and beyond in the process of treating my bruxism, which my previous dentist brushed off. Michelle does my cleanings and really pays attention to the fact that my teeth are so sensitive. They’ve eased my fears of the dentist x10 and I’m thrilled I decided to choose Dr. John and Dr. Amy as my new dentists after moving to Boulder!

As a new patient at this office, I've had the best experience thus far! It's very clean, modern, conveniently located, and the staff has been more than accommodating. I love Dr. Jon's transparency throughout the entire appointment - from when he's going to be done drilling to what the whole process looks like. One of the best dentist experiences I've had! The Perrier they offer is excellent as well - haha. While the dentist experience was great, my experience with the billing/refund department has been horrible. I've had to follow up multiple times about claims not submitted, and getting the actual refund is more difficult than pulling teeth (pun intended). I don't truly think they have their patients first in mind in this department. No matter how great my dental experience was, I'll find a new dentist before I have to deal with a headache insurance process here again.

Boulder Canyon Dental is hands down the best dental experience I have ever had! I was recommended by a friend to come here after a very bad filling experience at another dentist. Honestly, I could not be happier to have found Dr. Jon and his staff. He has all these modern tools to make the process a lot more comfortable and quick. I haven’t had any sensitivity after fillings and he fixed some chips I had in my front teeth. My smile has never looked better. Dr. Jon is competent, kind, and quick. He will me my dentist for life!

I’ve had multiple horrid experiences at dentists offices as a child which led me to not go to the dentist for 10+ years. When I tell that every staff member I saw was inviting and kind. Aubrey my hygienist was very gentle and lovely and Dr.Smith was very informative and kind. I won’t go any where else!

Boulder Canyon Dental has a modern and clean facility with a location that is very convenient for patients that live in the Newlands and North Boulder neighborhoods. The business takes appropriate COVID-19 precautions such as having a policy of mask compliance and also placing a transparent divider between the front desk and the waiting area. The facility has a nice imaging setup and can provide you with 3D dental-cone beam CT scans as an alternative to the more traditional 2D x-ray image. They have a new patient special where it costs $79 for a cleaning and an x-ray (without insurance). Overall I would recommend Boulder Canyon Dental to anyone that is looking for a new dentist in Boulder, Colorado.

I absolutely LOVE coming to Boulder Canyon Dental. Dr Jon and the whole team from the reception desk to hygienists to dental assistants are all amazing. I actually used to have a pretty severe phobia when it comes to seeing the dentist (think full on panic attack) but now I can go to the dentist comfortably. Every time I've gone in for cleanings or cavity fillings I've been treated with respect and I've always been seen quickly. It's always a great experience. I highly recommend Boulder Canyon Dental!

Both Dr. Jon and Dr. Amy are highly professional and competent dentists that made me feel very welcome and well-informed about my dental health. The office staff are very courteous and professional as well, checking in and confirming appointments to make sure everything is flawless on-site. Plus, the office and equipment are very modern and make everything quick and painless.

In addition to being knowledgeable ( has a degree in material science in addition to his dentistry, of course), he explains in detail what is happening during the procedure. He has the latest technology which makes the procedures very efficient and effortless! Highly recommend!

I have a complicated mouth. Anyone can take x rays and clean you teeth. Dr John had to create a custom plan for broken front tooth that was a 45 year old root canal. His plan worked and I have a beautiful smile that will last a life time. If you need a really good dentist Dr Jon is the man.

I went in to remove a broken bottom retainer. The front desk staff were incredibly helpful for setting up an appointment, estimating the time and cost of the procedure, and navigating my lack of insurance. The hygienist thoroughly explained all of the COVID precautions the office was taking and made me feel comfortable while waiting for my procedure. The primary doctor explained why I had a bottom retainer in the first place and walked me through potential options moving forward if my teeth started shifting again. I would highly recommend Boulder Canyon Dental because the staff are knowledgeable and considerate.

I had a bad experience here as a new patient. I received a cleaning with a ultrasonic and it was my first time having this procedure. I have tinnitus which is a ringing in the ears which has been improving since the hearing damage occurred several years ago. However, the procedure brought the tinnitus back full force. I called in to speak about my experience and rather than being met with care and consideration my experience was called into doubt and I was met with a lot of defensiveness. I don't feel this is upholding a good patient doctor relationship- one of care, and interest in the patient's experience. Also, it is important to know when new technology effects certain subgroups negatively. I have to say that the receptionists here were always kind and considerate but aside from that I would never return here. Especially in a dentists office I want to feel cared for!

Dr. John and Dr. Amy are amazing. My whole family sees them. They do same day crowns, Invisalign, and all of the latest technology.

I had a dental cleaning appointment 6 mos ago - only had cleaning and an exam. The charges that were submitted to insurance were as follows: 2 cleanings at the same visit, exam, bitewing x4, + 2 additional x-rays = $440. I called multiple times asking to correct it and they said they would or did, but they didn't. Needless to say, I am going elsewhere, which is also a problem because a doctor requires x-rays for a first visit, but this will be not covered by insurance. I cannot comment on Dr. Smith's skills because I had not had any dental treatments, but dental hygienists are not very good and I am being generous in this assessment.

High Quality Dental Care at Affordable Price! The Boulder Canyon Dental team lead by Dr. Jon are a friendly, professional operation that will work within your budget. After waiting 10+ years to address my dental issues, I needed multiple crowns not covered by insurance. Dr. Jon created a treatment plan to fix the problems in phases after finding out what insurance would pay. Dr. Jon fixed the most pressing issue 1st visit and immediately gave me pain relief from an abscessed tooth. I am very happy with the patient care and quality of dental work. I highly recommend Boulder Canyon Dental!

Be sure to request pre-authorization. They overlooked a waiting period required by my dental insurance and advised me that my x-rays would be covered at 100%. Had we waited another month, I could have saved $50. Otherwise, I've been happy with their office.

Everyone is super caring, they listen to your needs, they treat you as an individual person, and they only do what is necessary without racking up a huge bill. I've visited this destist for more that a decade and I have always had a great experience whenever I come in. It was beautifully remodeled and is a pleasent place to be. While your teeth are being cleaned you can look out the windows and see squirrels eating corn on the deck. All the people are great and do an excellent job of keeping your teeth clean and healthy. I would recommend Boulder Canyon Dental to anyone.

This is the coolest dental office in town! Dr. Smith is one of the best dentists I've ever gone to. The staff is friendly and so welcoming and I love all pictures if their dogs. It's a comfortable environment and I've told all of my friends and family to go there!!!!

Boulder Dental Canyon Dental is the best I've been going here for over 20yrs, and when Dr. Simpson retired he promised to bring on a new Dr. as good as him, and he trust. He did make that happen! Dr. Jon explains in detail, and makes the procedures smooth. I trust him, and fly in from Florida 2 times a year just to go see him. :) He is amazing, and knowledgeable of teeth. I would recommend everyone to go to him. The last thing in life you want is a bad dentist. This is more then highly recommended by me, and try him out yourself. You'll understand why I fly to Boulder Dental for teeth cleaning, and so on. Thank you Dr. Jon and staff for giving me the best smile you can give me!!!!

I was visiting from out of State for my Sons CU Graduation, my tooth started shooting pain, I went immediately to a oral surgeon in the area who recommended Jon at Boulder Canyon dental and helped me get into see Jon that day. Jon took my old crown off cleaned out all the decay, saved me from having a root canal and put a new cap on. I was done in a couple of hours. So Thankful to Jon and his staff, he saved my trip to see my Son Graduate!!! I have never been to such a Amazing Dentist office and Dentist! Boulder you are so Lucky you have the Best of the Best!!!

I hate the Dentists, have complete anxiety when it comes to drilling and metal being put in the mouth etc... This guy was a completely different experience, he was fast painless and affordable! I am a new patient and came in to have a second opinion on both a crown and surface fillings. They were able to fit me in and not charge for the exam. Based on their care and follow up I decided to have the crown done here. The crown was twice the price but done in office and in one visit which was really valuable to me. They also took a more conservative approach and did not recommend the rest of the work added on by the other office. I trust Dr. Smith because he was able to clearly communicate his recommendations and treatment plan.

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Smith’s and BCD for several years. Dr. Smith and the staff have always gone out of their way to accommodate my needs, and more importantly, they always hold my interests at the highest level. They are always transparent in evaualtion of my exams, and of treatment plans. On any occasion I’ve had painful or concerning issues, they've been immediately responsive and have made appointments ASAP to address my issues. I can’t recommend them enough...

The office is in a very convenient location and has been nicely updated. Parking in Boulder is often an issue and I love that they have a private lot. I saw Dr. Smith’s assistant Paige and she was very friendly and helpful in taking my X-rays. The 3D X-ray was amazing. I appreciate going to an office with the latest technology. Dr. Jon saw my 95 year old dad with Alzheimer's for the first time when Dad had pain in his only 2 remaining teeth. He very patiently explained the need to extract the teeth after a thorough evaluation. He showed thoughtful consideration of Dad's fragile medical condition when instructing me on how to prepare Dad for the surgery and care for him afterwards. During the procedure, he put Dad at ease and kept him informed (repeatedly) of each step in the process. Dr. Jon was quick in his technique, but took the time to notice a potentially dangerous infection in another part of Dad's jaw, which he treated on the spot. I had really appreciated how thorough and expeditious Dr. Jon was when he performed a necessary root canal on me after I had just met him. But after watching the caring and respectful way he treated my father, I was even more impressed and grateful to have him as our family dentist.

Dr. Jon Smith at Boulder Canyon Dental became my dentist when my previous dentist Dr. Tom Simpson retired. I have always loved this dental office. This summer I needed two crowns replaced. Dr. Smith was able to do this in the office--he makes the crowns there while you wait. I liked the way he explained everything and made sure I was comfortable. I am glad that receptionist Carol is still there, and the two assistants I met were wonderful.

Don't come here if you hate being harassed. I came in for a free consultation and felt pressured to make a follow up appointment. I ended up checking their website to see if they had a cancellation policy, which was not listed, and then left a message saying that I wanted to cancel. A few days later, I ended up getting a $350 bill for the free, complimentary consultation that they offered. I get them about every 3-4 days now. Please don't come here if you want to be fooled by nice receptionists/location and then only to receive expensive bills for the free/complimentary consultation.

Definitely recommend Dr. Smith and his team. I moved to Denver almost 2 years ago and within the first 2 months my front tooth veneer cracked. The only people I knew were from Boulder and recommended Dr. Simpson (the prior owner of the practice). I set an appointment for a dentist in Denver and on my way home called Dr. Smith's office. Carole, the receptionist told me there was an opening in 20 minutes if I could make it and wow, am I glad I made it. He fixed the cracked tooth that day and within the next couple of months I got a new set of porcelain veneers. They looked amazing. I also got some much needed TLC with other procedures done. I make the trek from Denver because they are that good!

The staff and doctor do a wonderful job. The are concerned about pain levels while ensuring that you get the best available treatment. They also worked with my insurance to get the most coverage possible, and I didn't have to ask!

The very very very best dentist! I have lived all over the world and been to more dentists than I care to remember. This guy is amaaaazing. He has the latest technology, the latest know-how. He's as skilled and compassionate a dentist I have ever known. He offers an insurance package. His front office is great. They care. ESPECIALLY if you have TMJ, this is the dentist for you.
