Currently have this insurance through my employer. The rep and website said this has international coverage and claims need to be done through BCBS Global Core division. But BCBS NE is very slow (like over a month) to respond to any Global Core request for direct payment letter approval. When I tried to contact BCBS NE customer support to ask why they are slow in approving the letter, the CS rep doesn't even know what BCBS Global Core is. I guess it's the client's (me) job to explain to them about who is BCBS Global Core. And after all that, I'm still not able to get the answer as to why they are slow in responding to Global Core. ? This company doesn't even deserve this one star.

1 star is too good for their Healthy Blue Nebraska Medicaid. Customer service is non existent. Employeee asked me for my call back # but when we were "disconnnected" (hung up on) she never bothered to call back. I strongly suggest using UHC for your Medicaid needs as they are the only provider that seems to have an understanding of how to do business

I am the general manager of a medical equipment company that has been in business since 2004. BCBS of Nebraska was the best company to work with for our first 14 years, but since 2018 they have by far become the worst insurance company in the country. We work with over 35 supplemental insurance companies every year. and BCBS is the only company who is not paying claims correctly or in a timely manner. Currently we have over 50 customer claims that have not been paid correctly, mostly in the past year totaling over $250,000. Even after appealing the claims, BCBS is telling us and our customers that they paid the claims correctly, when in fact they know they did not. We retained a law firm to contact BCBS's legal counsel. After months of correspondence with their legal department, they have done nothing but spew lies about these mispaid claims. We have a 14 year history of how these claims were paid correctly in the past by BCBS, but they do not seem to care. We also have a 16 history of all the other supplemental insurance carriers that do pay these claims correctly. We are now to a point where we have no choice but to help our customer's file a lawsuit against BCBS of Nebraska to get their claims paid correctly. They have caused a lot of stress and anxiety for our customer's, all over the age of 65, who now have to sue their insurance company to get the benefits that their insurance policy covers. I strongly recommend that you do not consider BCBS as your insurer for anything. If you are currently insured by BCBS, you should consider switching to another insurer at your next opportunity. BCBS of Nebraska is happy to take your payments for insurance coverage, but not willing to abide by the law and pay the benefits of your policy. They are nothing but liars and crooks. Brent White

They used to be good, then they had their corporate rearangement. Now they are all about making money. They cancelled my individual plan in order to "simplify" their offerings. My coworker's plans, through Blue Cross Blue Shield, are worse than the ACA plans. Do not give them your money.

Don't believe their hype on their individual healthcare policies. They give you an attractive teaser quote on the phone and then quadruple the premium on the final quote. You need health care? Look at Golden Rule policy through United Health Care.

My wife has this insurance through her employer and this is a do not recommend having them. We have nothing but problems and have to fight to get them to cover especially for dental coverage. And what is D9222 on a claim either way they are apparently certified doctors and know better. DO NOT USE THEM GO ELSEWHERE

If your an employee be careful even if your not doing anything and other people are causing a hostile environment they will fire YOU the person that is not making the place hostile. They say they want caring customer service employees thats a joke and a lie. I would not recommended this job to any one due to the real facts they fire people that are caring not causing problems and keep the ones who cause the problems which is not ok. Which means the agents the members are speaking to are on the phones with employees that could careless about them and there modo is to care well goes to show they dont follow that.

I think Blue Cross and Blue Shield is a joke my baby is 3 months old and I can't even work because of a herniated disc for the second time in my life, I was denied approval for my surgery after we met our deductible. They claim that if I want to get the surgery I have to go through two injections which have failed in the past and or go through 6 weeks ofphysical therapy. I'm 100% positive that my doctor made it clear on the report to the insurance that I was unable to work and he recommended the surgery. Now they're claiming that my doctor has to call their physician to explain why he thinks I need surgery. I think it's funny how I met my deductible and now I'm being denied. If I'm unable to have surgery which is being scheduled a month to two months in advance I will not be able to be covered after meeting my deductible and will have to pay out-of-pocket next year. Thanks bluecrossandblueshield for always being there for me. Hopefully you can explain to my family why I can't bring in any income

From someone who works in a providers office, their customer service is terrible. The only way to contact them is through email and they say that they don't get your emails and/or don't respond. I have been working on getting a claim paid for over 90 days and still haven't gotten a payment or a resolution.

Sure, the phone menu can be very annoying and tedious, but that is unfortunately a standard at any company call center. Every time I've called them, they've been super polite and helpful. Please try to be nice to the representatives. They have a hard job, and they'll be more likely to work with you if you work with them. My plan covers a good amount of the costs, and I've had plenty of health problems this year. Thank you Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska!

It was nice to talk with the lady's that helped me,,, but. It still makes no since if I use less medicine for a longer time that I have to pay more money for the same amount that I use more of for a lesser amount of time .. yep. I use more for shorter time and pay less for it then if I use less for a longer time.... Crazy!.. I still get the same amount of Medicine that did change. Go Figure..

When money becomes priority number one to a company, customer service comes last. What to expect from BCBS is the highest expenses for the least coverage.

We were solicited to have some free well being preventative healthcare services done by our employer and BCBS, colonoscopy for my wife and annual physical for me. Then 1-2 months later we get a bill in the mail for almost $3000! Nice! Classic bait and switch illegal move there BCBS, CHI, and our Doctor's offices working in collusion. We have been fighting them now for over 2 months to get this corrected and they won't let up. The office manager just today told us, "It's all about the money!" Pure Greed! Unbelievable! How can any business solicit business, advertise as free, then charge you??? That is fraud and illegal. May be time to get a lawyer involved!?

Website doesn't work for looking up coverage, then get a letter about more hoops to jump through for coverage and more stuff not covered. What's the point then? Will be dropping asap!

I work in the insurance industry, alongside a team that has done so for 100 years collectively. My colleagues and I are in the top 5 of our entire national company. We have 30,40, and 50 year committed customers. As you might imagine, one doesn't have that kind of success without a major emphasis on customer service. We all know insurance is EVERYWHERE. That being said, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska has reminded me exactly how bad of service is really out there. Dealing with their customer service has been a train wreck. They never get back to me. They never have solid answers for my questions. It's really sad. I know from a lot of experience that people want to be confident that they are a) being told the truth, b) given the most up to date knowledge, and c) having someone, ANYONE, respond to them. I feel like getting all three of these things from BCBS of Nebraska would be miraculous. sad...

Idiotic customer service. You can ask fifteen people whether something's covered or not and if so, how to get it to be covered (forms? automatic with provider? discount? reimbursement?) and get fifteen different answers, none of which are binding on the company or provider.

Shame on BCBS for pushing CHI out of network. Omaha consistently tops lists of best places to live specifically for things like access to great healthcare and cost of living. My company and I now not only pay costly insurance premiums but have to pay 30% of costs beyond the $500 annual deductible to stay within the CHI network....a network whose providers make up more than half the medical providers in the city. Omaha is now the least affordable city to be sick in. Way to not insure your policyholders.

I was happy with this company but had to leave to find something more affordable after the increases. So now I will smear their name wherever I can, because after being charged $520 (which they have admitted is their mistake), it will take 4-6 weeks to get my refund. Why? They said it's because they only go to the bank once a month for refunds. Sweet. Gotta love big companies.
