Took my girlfriend to her tooth extraction procedure 2 weeks ago. Her pain after the procedure never subsisted days post surgery and her calls to the office were dismissed as the stitches or something else. It turned out bone had been left exposed post removal and the surgery site did not heal. She now has to have another procedure done. No follow up appts to prevent these things from happening? Being way to dismissive of a patient’s concerns over lingering, excruciating pain.

It seems they are about the money; my 86 year old dad almost died from a severe infection caused by his teeth. They do not accept Medicare (I have talked to Medicare, and this operation is covered) and want the whole amount upfront. Wow really doesn't seem right that we treat our older generation this way. Oh, I was told that the doctors need to get paid for their experience and education, and it is the facility that doesn't accept Medicare, not doctors. Bull, I bet if I dug a little, the facility is owned by doctors. I have applied for Financial help at the hospital for him, but why when this operation is covered? Oh, yea, they don't accept Medicare because it doesn't pay enough. It is just a shame. I wonder if he would be covered if he was an illegal alien?

This was an incredible surgical experience! I couldn't afford to go to other offices but BH Oral Surgery provided me with a very acceptable payment plan! And the surgery itself was incredible. I was only sedated for 14 minutes and the surgery was done! No pain at all! Thank you so much!!!

Informative, joyful and reassuring. Dr morgan and his staff are wonderful people who embody the ideals of what the healthcare community should be. Dr Morgan even called me tonight after having my wisdom teeth removed to ensure i was ok. Being a healthcare worker myself, take it from me these are the people you want to have taking care of you if you need to have work done BAR NONE.

Daughter was referred here by Nelson and Bury, later to find out they aren't covered by my insurance. Received an out of pocket $257 for consultation. When I called them they said they don't know if people's insurance are covered or not. Wrong, they would be able to find out after we fill out all of the insurance paperwork they make you do before the visit. This has happened to a few others as I've read other reviews and posts in the Ellsworth community. Why would you continue to deceive people, truly messed up business practices. It's not hard to let people know if they have coverage or not. Definitely won't be getting anymore business from me, not like you care. You'll just deceive someone else.

As I have read on multiple other reviews I also was referred here and they did nothing for my teeth but more xrays that were pointless, if they did there job and collected the info from the place who referred me as they should have they could saved me money and not expose myself and others to carcinogens given by radiation from the xrays. Paying out of pocket for unessary work pisses me off and makes me wanna say they are only here for the cash profit & not to serve our wonderful community with honest docs concerned with our well being. My daughter has redeemed you for I will be ok now knowing at least she is better cause of your facility and staff.

Professional staff, Jay Crossland was great, thorough, informative. Hope I won't ever need another implant but if I do this is the place to go!

They got us in on an emergency basis on a Friday morning. Great service, explained what was going on and we were out very timely so we could make our other appointments for the day. Could not recommend more!

I was referred here by my dentist and they told me they would do an evaluation and than give me a treatment plan and what it would cost after insurance and they just took more xrays which wasn’t necessary because my dentist had just done that and they never gave me a treatment plan or anything else just billed me for the pointless xrays they took ??

I really appreciate Dr. Van Dam and his staff! They fit me in last minute on a Monday afternoon to extract 4 teeth. They were incredibly friendly, professional, and kind. I was nervous and they talked me through the entire process and got me in and out. Then followed up with a check-in call the next day to see how I was. I feel like they really cared.

My husband and I both go here ..Dentists are very professional and the staff is friendly and helpful ...however, the waiting room always has fragrance..I have sensitivities as I’m sure many others do..hope they check into that ..

I have received excellent care from both Dr. Morgan and staff at BH Oral Surgery from all my visits. They are amazing and very professional.

Everyone was super friendly and fun! That is a great bonus to the excellent skill and care they took with my daughter! Super impressed that Dr. Morgan himself took the time to do a follow-up call to check on his patient. No one wants dental surgery but this is definitely the best place to go for it if it must be done.

Dr. Morgan and his staff did an amazing job with my surgery. They really set me at ease and explained everything thoroughly to my driver. I was really blown away when that evening Dr. Morgan called me at home to make sure everything was okay and I didn’t have any problems from the surgery. Update: When I had a problem with my recovery and had some unexpected pain, Dr. Morgan and his staff fixed the problem two weeks later free of charge.

I had a tooth extraction. Very professional and great attention to detail. Doctor Crossland called me the evening after my procedure to see how I was doing. The staff called me again the next day. Just to make sure all was good. This is my 3rd procedure with this office. Each time went above my expectations.

They took really good care of me and helped with my anxiety and nerves! The whole staff was nice to me and Dr. Crossland was super nice too. I'm very pleased with how everything went. Thank you for removing that awful, rotten tooth of mine!!

I just had my wisdom pulled. I was very anxious and i felt like i needed more time to ask questions. At the end of my procedure, i was "awake" and alert to the pain. I had to keep asking for medicine and i dont think it was giving. I was even crying ... i wanted to be knocked out . .. was far from it. They also kept getting the prices mixed up among wach other for extra numbing medication. As i was walking out, i was stopped at the front desk and was asked for a copay. The told me before that i would owe nothing but as im out of it and desperately just wanting to go home, in pain and pretty out if it. she kept demanding money.. never going back. Im glad everyone else had an amazing experience. Im thankful my

I got referred to them from my dentist, and I'm so grateful they did because I got there this morning at 745am and they let us come inside and they got me in right away and they were the best doctor and the best team I have seen in such a long time they actually care about your health vs most of these doctors in this state and I had the up most best experience I have ever had in my life with this place they cut three of my teeth out and I just moved back from Colorado and started a new job and they are so understanding and there letting me make payments!! If I have surgery ever on my teeth or anything they can do I will go to them only 100% no questions asked. They are gentle and fast and good at there job as well as super caring. I will be sending anyone I know there!!!

Black Hills Oral & Maxillofacial did a wonderful job with my son’s wisdom teeth extraction. They were very attentive and professional and answered all our questions. My son’s recovery has been much smoother than we expected.

Absolutely fantastic experience from the minute we walked in until hours after, when Dr. Crossland called to see how my son was doing after wisdom teeth removal. Friendly, helpful front desk staff, nurse was amazing, doctor was amazing, staff that checked us out and gave us home instructions were amazing. Comprehensive and complete instructions for home. Atmosphere and office were welcoming and warm. Very, very impressed.

Our 20 year old son had wisdom teeth extraction surgery today. Surgery went well and faster than we expected. Aftercare instructions were very thorough. Had a little bit of trouble with preauthoruzation process in the beginning and the surgery was scheduled without my knowledge that preauth was needed. I contacted Delta Dental myself and rescheduled the surgery once I found out what was required. I was surprised the scheduling person didn’t direct me in the beginning. Glad we checked. Otherwise, good experience. Would recommend.

I had a fantastic experience with black hills oral surgery. I had my wisdom teeth removed on a Friday and later that night Dr. Van dam called me with his personal number to say that I could call his cell anytime that weekend if I had any questions or problems. This place deserves 5 out of 5 stars easily

Walking into the office (spearfish) with my daughter to have her wisdom teeth removed I was very nervous, not to mention how nervous she must've been. We walked in exactly at our scheduled time (1230). There was no one around but I could hear people laughing and talking in the basement. We waited about 10 minutes when finally a woman walked upstairs, still chewing what I'm assuming was her lunch. Sits her drink down on the desk, chewing away, plops down in her seat and finally asks my daughters name. Very very rude in my opinion. The next person who took us into the back treated us like a number, had her back to us the entire time she was asking questions and entering the info in the computer. I considered walking out but didn't. Dr Morgan came in and quickly changed my mind. He was very informative and reassuring. He was knowledgable and answered all my questions. I felt comfortable. The woman who was recovering her and came to get me from the waiting room was outstanding! She was so amazing! We were standing by the receptionist and I asked how much medication and what kind she got. The RECEPTIONIST stated, "the average amount". I ignored her and said to the nice lady, "I work in surgery and I would like to know what medications she got and how much" she then told me. If it wasn't for Dr Morgan and his assistant I would have given 1 star. My daughter had a successful procedure so I am happy but the support staff needs educated!

It's not often that I get to write such an enthusiastic review, but this place is FANTASTIC. They helped me with a payment plan, did a great job taking out my wisdom teeth, were very fast ( I mean like the procedure took less than 10 minutes once they started...wow.) I couldn't have asked for better. I shopped around and compared places before going to Dr. Van Dam, and am SO GLAD I CHOSE BLACK HILLS ORAL. Staff is friendly, the offices and waiting room are clean, and I COULD NOT HAVE ASKED FOR MORE. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Two thumbs up.

Staff here are excellent. My fiance and I both had our wisdom teeth removed in the same month and both times they were great. They always have someone on call to answer any questions. Would recommend this place.

Dr. Scott D. Van Dam, DDS, MD To whom it may concern: About five months ago I had oral surgery on the left side of my tongue to remove tissue for a biopsy to determine if cancer was present. Fortunately, the biopsy was negative. The problem has been that the wound on my tongue failed to heal, despite repeated follow ups visits to my original oral surgeon in Rapid City, South Dakota. The pain has been unbearable to say the least and my original oral surgeon told me that it would heal over time and he didn’t feel he could help me any further. Shortly there after my tongue ulcerated and I sought immediate attention from Dr. Scott Van Dam at Black Hills Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, PC also in Rapid City, South Dakota from late February and most of March. Dr. Van Dam immediately diagnosed the problem to be a frictional interaction between my tongue and a wisdom tooth as well as frictional interaction with some of my other lower teeth which caused the excessive pain and failure to heal. The wisdom tooth was removed promptly and the suspect lower teeth were filed down and rounded off. Without the interference of the subject teeth the tongue has been healing rapidly and will soon be back to normal. I am very grateful to Dr. Van Dam for his prompt diagnosis and aggressive action. Absolutely had a good experience. Over Saint Patty's weekend they saw me on Saturday due to pain in my mouth. I couldn't believe they'd see me on a Saturday. Absolutely loved it! I'll be recommending them all the time

She was treated with world-class care right here in Rapid City. Cannot be more pleased with the concern, respect, efficiency and competency provided by Dr. Van Dam.

Very, Very great service. The nurses had a great sense of humor which helped make me feel more at ease with the surgery I was about to get. The doctor was very clear and explained everything super well. After I got the okay to go home, they sent me home with a little care package that had everything I needed and a little more. About 6 hours after my surgery, the surgeon called me to make sure everything was going okay. Totally exceeded my expectations! Very great place. Would definitely recommend!!

When I broke my tooth and realized it needed to be replaced with an implant, I was terrified! As it turned out, the staff at Black Hills Oral Surgery was amazing and they made it feel like a simple procedure. I felt no pain and no discomfort. Absolutely wonderful experience. Jess and Kathy were absolutely wonderful while we waited for doctor Crossman to come into the room, they kept me calm and distracted me from the upcoming procedure. Really lessened my anxiety. Dr. Crossman called me on his personal time to see how I was feeling tonight. Very good experience I will definately return for any future oral surgery needs. I returned for my 2 week follow up not feeling better and in quite a bit of pain, doctor said its not healed completely and there is some bone in there, he squeezed me into his surgery schedule right there and then and fixed it. I cannot say enough good things about this office. I will always use them for any future oral surgery needs. Thank you for being so wonderful.

Had three teeth removed...talk about a stress free environment. Nursing staff was really friendly and doctor was awesome! Called to check up on me even... by far the best dental experience I could have imagined!

I have had terrible anxiety about getting my wisdom teeth taken out for years! I learned to live with the discomfort because I couldn't imagine anything worse than having to have surgery performed on my mouth! Had I known how great the staff was and how relaxed they made the experience, I would have done this years ago! From pre-op to post-op I felt completely taken care of. I was in and out in what felt like the blink of an eye. Dr. Richman and the amazing staff make it hard to believe I waited to long to go see them! Thank you all so much! It was truly a pleasure!

This office has helped multiple family memebers. It doesn't matter if you are child or adult every single one of the staff members are personable and delight to talk to. Making sure that you fully understand what is going to happen with everything from during your procedure to all after care. I am so happy with Dr Crossland and his staff. I needed an abscessed tooth pulled that was under a crown. It had become infected. One minute I'm laughing with the staff and the next second I open my eyes from my light sedation and the tooth was out. I felt great, no pain and no pain since. Light sedation is the way to go for any Dental or Oral procedure from this point forward for me, including the price. Thanks Dr Crossland.

I believe I’m the world’s most anxious, nervous and wimpy dental patient ever. Accordingly, when my dentist recommended pulling four teeth and replacing them with dental implants, I nearly passed out at the fear of impending pain and never ending costs. A wise friend encouraged me to supplement my dentist’s diagnosis with a specialist’s opinion before I proceed. Thankfully, I contacted the specialists at Black Hills Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Center (“BHOMS”), who reviewed my x-rays and further clarified the needed treatment. My consultation with a BHOMS specialist was very thorough, in-depth, and comfortable. Under the BHOMS expert radiological and clinical examinations, it was determined that I only needed one dental implant. Although, one implant was still hard for me to stomach, I’m confident, my best interest and well-being was the BHOMS team’s top priority. I’m four days out of surgery, today, and in this time I’ve traveled out of state and returned to work without complications. In the end, I strongly recommend the BHOMS team’s services and professional care. Thank you to the wonderful staff and specialists at BHOMS!
