Children's Dentistry of Westerly and Wakefield

My daughter is a patient here & loves it, my son had his first appointment here yesterday. All I can say is WOW! My son needs some work & has an infection..he’s also 5 and had a bad experience at his previous dentist..and a very sensitive gag reflex. Instead of losing patience with him and getting frustrated, Kristen took her time to explain everything to him and make him feel comfortable. He went from closing his mouth and turning on his side in the chair, to letting her clean his teeth! Dr Capalbo is absolutely amazing, and was also very reassuring to me. They really understand kids here, and work with them to overcome their fears of the dentist, rather than just refer them to the operating room for simple procedures. My son went from crying and stressing on his way there, to asking me when he gets to go back there again, on the way home. I cannot express how happy I am to have him transferred there! I wanted to cry tears of relief knowing that he’ll finally be getting the care he needs. Thank you guys so much!!!

The best children’s dentist office around!

We switched to this practice when my youngest was an infant. The staff was always fantastic with my children. Today we went in for an issue my son was having. I had to just say that Dr Capalbo is always bubbly and telling corny, funny jokes. But her bedside manner with my son while he was hurting was top notch. He even said how he really liked how she was funny when she knew it was right and serious when it was right and it made him feel really comfortable. She genuinely listened to him and treated him so well. It really made in impression on me today. She also was so great when I was speaking to her with issues I was having with my kids brushing habits.

We had a great appointment with Dr Capalbo and Kristen, our hygienist. They made us feel so comfortable for our first visit. You can tell they truly love their jobs and care about their young patients. Thank you!

We always have a great experience but today was super. My son needed a tooth extracted, is super nervous around needles and had not one clue he got novacaine. He was so happy and said it was so easy and he loved the dentist!

Super friendly staff and doctor. The little one cannot sit still but they are super patient, doctor even sings him a song. Make appointment early since they have a tight schedule.

My child is 10 and she absolutely loves Westerly office. This is our third dentist and I the third time is charm. The secretaries are great as well. They keep very close to the appointment time. Though listen to your concerns and questions. This group is truly a blessing.

Greatest place for your little one to go! My son is 3 and he is never afraid to go because Ms. Bonnie and Dr. C are the best. He feels comfortable and safe with them and I appreciate that the most.

Dr. Capalbo is fantastic. She made teeth pulling a painless and fun experience! She entertained my son so much with jokes and riddles, he didn’t notice his teeth were out!

The staff is amazing always friendly! Dr Capalbo is absolutely amazing! She is great with kids and always goes above and beyond to make my son comfortable!

Dr. Capalbo and the entire staff (especially Candy ?) are fantastic. My daughters are usually nervous about going to the dentist. But Dr. Capalbo has an incredible way of making them feel safe and comfortable. She's even able to make them laugh! I consider myself very blessed to have such a great dentist for my girls.

Dr. Capalbo and the entire team are wonderful with all three of our children. From the hygienists to the front desk staff, everyone is kind and patient. Dr. Capalbo recently performed a procedure on our three year old and he was calm and still enjoyed the visit thanks to her technique and bedside manner. We highly recommend this practice.

I’m not sure many parents can say they’ve teared up with joy at their child’s dentist appointment, never mind at an appointment for a cavity filling. Dr. Capalbo was born to do this job. She is a fantastic dentist; so knowledgeable but never judgmental. She is a rockstar with the little ones and makes them feel comfortable, a part of the process, brave, and even excited to be there (it also helps that she is reassuring to the parent(s)). My little one breezed through her filling without a fear or a peep, to my utter amazement, and I have Dr. Anna to thank for that. Bring your child to see this dentist, 100%. My five year old daughter has seen Dr. Capalbo for over three years now and we’ll bring my son there too. Each visit is consistently pleasant and professional. I can’t say enough good things about this office! Dr. Capalbo is fantastic! I brought my 2 year old in to get a cavity fixed and she put her right at ease. I thought this was going to be a traumatic experience for my anxious toddler, but it ended up being quick and painless. The entire staff was great!

Dr Capalbo is amazing. And the staff (especially Katie) are awesome too! My child can be incredibly anxious when it comes to dental work and her "bedside" manner and competency are incredible and help make what could be (and usually is) traumatic experience almost a pleasure.

My son's appointment went well today. Kristen did Owen’s dental cleaning. She was very kind and friendly to him. He enjoyed his visit, and liked to see his X rays. Doctor was very professional, very kids oriented. We couldn’t be happier with this practice. The office was spotless, good air circulation inside. Covid protocol was smooth. Highly recommend this practice to others.

I have been going here for both of my children for almost a decade now. They are always exceptional. Facility is always clean and everyone is very courteous. I usually see Dr. Shannon and I love how he handles the difficult/painful procedures my child has had to endure. He explains everything in a way they understand without scaring them. My children's teeth are in good hands. All around amazing. Highly recommended!

This is hands down the best pediatric dentistry in the state of RI. The compassion and empathy the Doctors and staff show to their patients is unparalleled. Thank you, for everything you do. I only wish we had found this practice sooner.

Dr. Capalbo and her staff are absolutely amazing. My son Michael has autism and is basically non-verbal. He is about to be 12 yrs old and she is the only dentist he has ever had. We moved to Connecticut but it is still absolutely worth the drive to Westerly. She always makes my son feel comfortable and keeps it fun whether she's just talking to him or even singing him songs. We are truly grateful for her and her team. She is a miracle worker.

Always a wonderful experience! My daughter had some worries but these were easily washed away with a factual but kid friendly explanation and a fun game that kept her mind occupied while she got her sealant. I’m so grateful to have such wonderful dentists and staff caring for my daughter. Thank you for being so great!

Dr. Capalbo took such time and care in explaining everything to my husband and I. Their staff even occupied my daughter so we could get a minute alone to discuss specifics. All of our questions were answered and I never felt rushed! While I'm naturally anxious about my daughter's dental health, I feel comforted and confident knowing she will be in good hands.

This visit was intense as my son needed his tooth removed...hea only 8...the dentist is absolutely amazing!!! He pulled my son's tooth out on les than a minute! Also was very underastding as my son was very upset and scared...but overall his pain is now gone and i coukd not be More pleased...my sons mouth is in amazing hands!!! Thank you for your patience and understanding....im happy my son has an amazing dentist!!!

We've been going to see Dr. Capalbo for about two years now. I am always blown away by how kind the entire staff is. I feel like dentist and doctor visits can go remarkably well or spectacularly terrible for kids, and I have definitely experienced both outcomes with my kids. But they are always well behaved at this dentist, and I really think it's because of the way the hygienists and dentists approach them, talk to them and even make the whole experience into a fun game. My 2 year old fell and broke a tooth a year ago, and Dr. Shannon was able to help reassure me after hours that she was going to be fine, and even fit us in for an emergency appt the next day to have her checked out. I was very grateful. We went for a checkup today and my 5 year old, who historically has behaved absolutely awful at most appts, said to me "I wish I could go back to the dentist tomorrow! And the next day and the next day!"

My 7yo and 3yo love the Westerly office and Dr. Shannon. He was also my husbands dentist way back when. Great staff. Very good to an anxious mom who gets more nervous than the kids ?

Like many doctors offices these days the office staff is seriously subpar and makes working with this practice difficult and in our case costly. Dr. Capalbo is a good child dentist but needs better front office staff. Our children have gone there since nearly birth when she performed surgery to correct a tongue tie. We are diligent, detail oriented consumers and when our insurance changed we called to ensure we would be in network and covered. The staff ensured us. They were wrong. Now we are facing a $288 bill for basic annual cleaning and they will do nothing to correct their error.

First trip to the dentist was a huge success thanks to the staff and Doctor Shannon! I fully expected to have to encourage and bribe my son to have his teeth cleaned but my shy and strong willed son was immediately comfortable and surprisingly cooperative (he is 3) thanks to the skill and patience of our dental hygienist, Kim. She showed him every tool she was going to use and offered for him to touch and explore the tool, which he did several times with each of the tools. I was not sure how he was going to respond to keeping his mouth open because brushing teeth can be a nightly battle but Kim’s warm and friendly approach really made this whole experience a huge success for both my son and me. We both left with smiles on our faces instead of the tears I had imagined because I had envisioned it to be a battle of the wills because, you know, expecting a toddler to cooperate on any day is a gamble but these folks really know how to do their jobs! Doctor Shannon was also warm and friendly and took the time to explain to me what he had observed along with his recommendations. Wonderful experience, my son can’t wait to go back for his next cleaning!

I have three small children and taking my third to his first dentist appointment, I knew to expect the normal crying, screaming, and resistance that I met with my older two. The visit went entirely different though and I am baffled at how calm my child was during his visit. Not once did the staff rush us. Instead they have stimulating activities while you wait. Once you are in the room, they again allowed my child to look around and get used to being in a brand new place. I'm so impressed with this office and staff! They were wonderful and made my son's first experience to the dentist a pleasant experience!

Amazing professionals, and work incredibly well with young children. My daughter had to have extensive cavity repair done at a very young age, and Dr. Capalbo achieved amazing results, with an incredibly gentle manner.

I definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a kid's dentist. I came in as an emergency with my 5 year old that got hurt at the park and the staff was amazing. They handled my situation very well. My son ended up needing three teeth extractions and they made the process as easy and less scary as they possible could for both him and me!

Both dr capable and dr Shannon are wonderful! We've been patients for generations and have been nothing but happy with each visit!

Fantastic office! My 9 year old son has has high anxiety due to the previous 2 pediatric dentist he has been to; this office and staff put him at ease, made him feel comfortable and willing to come back again! He has really taken initiative with his brushing and flossing daily as well with their incentive program to get a prize. highly recommend! My 4 year old even cried when we were leaving because she didn't want to wait for July to get her teeth cleaned! Very friendly, outgoing, funny & informative staff.

I can't say enough great things about Dr. Capalbo & Dr. Shannon, as well as their team. My family used to live closer to the Wakefield Office and now we are about an hour away. Because of this teams excellence, I will drive an hour for my sons appointments. My son has Autism, and doctors are pretty scary for him. We do have a lot of crying when we go in for our appointments. This team is so patient with him. There is no rush. They tell him silly jokes that make him laugh and try to get him to think of other things. We went yesterday and after leaving, he said he had so much fun and wanted to come back today. THANK YOU Dr. Capalbo, Dr. Shannon, and team.

Amazing and patient staff even for wiggly excited little boys. When my son had to have two teeth pulled (who absolutely hates shots/needles) I was very nervous how the appointment would go. They were so skilled and covert about the Novocaine he never even noticed the shot. He was calm and relaxed the entire time and thrilled to have two teeth for the tooth fairy. The kids love to go there because it's such a warm and welcoming environment.

Dr. Capalbo is the best. She is extremely patient and kind and is able to do the best work while interacting and calming my children in the process. Both my children love her!

Our experience with Children's Dentistry of Westerly was extremely positive all around. The atmosphere of the waiting room is inviting and child centered. The dental assistants/hygienists are phenomenal at alleviating children's fears or concerns about their dental visit. They explain each process and tool used as they are cleaning and examining. They even demonstrate the feel of the tool on the child's hand before using it. And Dr. Capalbo is amazing. She is friendly to the adult and the child, calming, thorough, and skilled. Not much more could you ask for in a dental clinic!

Dr. Capalbo is great! She has a friendly, gentle demeanor that puts my son at ease. My son is mildly Autistic and has difficulty with noises and other sensory issues and they have been able to do fillings and caps without trauma, mainly because of the way she can talk him through the procedures.

Dr. Capalbo and the staff are amazing!! My son loves going to the dentist and actually looks forward to his appointments. The staff and Dr Capalbo are very thorough when examining my son, they explain what's going to happen and why they are doing it (so he learns something too). I highly recommend this practice - they've made going to the dentist a breeze for my son!!

My son has been going to Dr. Capalbo since he was 4. He had so much work that needed to be done. I thought he would never go to another dentist because he was traumatized. Low and behold, Dr. Capalbo worked her magic! She is so gentle, always talks to the kids the whole time. You can tell she lives her job and children. I can't thank her enough.

LOVE this practice. They are thorough, caring and compassionate. I can't imagine ever taking my kids any place else.
