The office staff is amazing!! As for Larry Shultz himself not so much. He likes to belittle you and talk down to you like you are a child. If you happen to have any Community plan of insurance he will definitely make you feel beneath him. He has recommended that two children of mine needed braces. Before Covid happened and again today. He made the comment of my daughter getting braces but if I couldn’t afford them then she can do it when she gets older and pay for them herself. At that moment I felt offended because of the manner of his comment but I just let it roll off as he was examining her teeth. I took my younger children out to the car as I waited for my oldest to be done with his appointment. When my son came into the car he told me the reason why he can’t get braces is because Dr. Shultz told him that his mother couldn’t afford them. That is not something that you discuss with a 13-year-old boy!! Larry Shultz has a way of making you feel like you are beneath him and not a good parent. He is very unprofessional and if you like to be talked down upon then by all means be a patient of this man but one thing is for sure I will NOT be taking my four children back to this man.

Amazing people and amazing care! there are many dentists in the valley, and making the right one can be very hard. I'm here to say and make that choice a little easier. We are dedicated to making sure everyone knows that if they are looking for a place to ensure the best in care they should make sure to make Dr. Shults and his staff their 1st choice. Thank you Dr. Shults!

I am shocked google has such a high rating for this Dental Clinic. I believe Yelp better reflects the issues I have been having with this place. I will not bring my son back here. Dr. Schultz severally lacks bedside manner, and is quite frankly, rude. As others have stated, his staff (specifically Dental Assistants, not so much the front desk) are great. They are personable and kind. But Dr. Schultz’s rude persona results in me giving this place 1 star. He treated and talked to me as if I was UNEDUCATED. Which, like him, I also have a graduate degree. But even if I WAS uneducated, his demeanor was uncalled for. He essentially stated that my son had 6 cavities or so, and that he’ll either need to be “put under” for fillings, or if I let it progress, he’ll need a metal cap. Now, in all honesty, I admitted we are not flossing his teeth as we should, and I have adjusted my sons diet after this, but his delivery is terrible. He told me I could “promise,” to do better, but he says a lot of people don’t. Something rubbed me the wrong way about me “promising” anything to a grown man. It just seemed childish, but I ignored it. He then told me that we haven’t been in in 9 MONTHS, and that I have basically let the problem get worse because I haven’t brought my child in. Let’s think about that yall. A few months ago DENTAL CLINICS WERE SHUT DOWN DUE TO COVID 19. When my son was scheduled to go in MAY, they called and said he couldn’t come in due to the pandemic. Ok, I get it, totally fine. NO ONE from this office called me back. THEY FORGOT ABOUT MY CHILD, and then blamed me for not bringing him in! I set up the appointment because my child’s health is important to me. Dr, Schultz, you have some nerve to ever insinuate my child’s health is not important to me. You belittled me in front of my child and your staff. They had me sign a bunch of paperwork for something about my son potentially needing fillings, and I felt uncomfortable. I felt like I should’ve followed my attorney husband’s advice and not sign anything. I don’t recommend this place. I’m sure his advice was fine, but I’m having my Dentist review everything before I make a decision. And if she does believe the advice is sound, my son will be getting fillings from someone who isn’t rude. EDIT 5/10/21 - My son received new X-Rays from a different dentist and she said my son does NOT need a metal cap! Absolutely ridiculous that this advice was given for a then 4 year old when it wasn’t needed! EDIT AGAIN 6/9/21 - Dr. Schultz called me AGAIN. As soon as I pick up the phone he immediately just starts talking about how he “wants to improve,” but neither time did he ask if it was a good time for me to talk. He is not concerned about doing better as he tried to dispute my edit above with me. If you were truly concerned about my son then you would give accurate information and APOLOGIZE for being condescending. Then he told me my son’s new Dr. should keep the records for when he inevitably needs help ? Dr. Schultz, she is ALSO a Dr. who is more than capable of taking her own X-rays. So condescending. We literally moved right by this facility and I rather drive my son to North Scottsdale to get dental help.

Was not satisfied with my results, one of my sons ended up with severe rot on teeth which caused several teeth to fall out. My other son ended up with cancer from the large amount of radiation used to get an x-ray for his teeth. Would NOT recommend, please report this company.

All three of my kids have been going to Dr. Larry Shults since they were little. His staff and him have been wonderful, especially with my Special Needs daughter. They have been very patient with her, especially when she was younger and she wouldn't cooperate. My oldest will be 18 next year and I'm sad she'll have to leave him.

We took my daughter Angelina here 3 years ago in June. They recommended to put her (our 2 year old daughter) to sleep so they could fix a few cavities. This was scary to us because she was still vary little, didn't talk great yet, and we didn't know if she was having any pain.. So we looked into it (look for yourself) and there is no reason to put a child that small under anesthetics unless in extreme circumstances or if the child is in severe pain. Reminding you we initially took her here for a cleaning. This was 3 years ago and Angelina speaks fluent and clear now, has had no work done on her teeth, and has never said anything ever about any teeth hurting. To me they are taking unnecessary risks with my child's life just to take my money. Please find a different place to take your little ones.

Brought my 7 month old to Dr. Shultz for the first and last time. As a new parent and first time patient, it would have been nice if he would have explained what he was doing before hand and asked my permission to do unnecessary fluoride treatment on my son. I saw him rub white stuff on my sons gums and I asked what it was, he said Fluoride. I have my own beliefs about fluoride and certainly didn’t want that for my baby. Shame on him for not asking before hand.I was so angry when I left that I was shaking. However; he did call and apologize.

Dr. Schultz helped my son when he fell off his bike and hit his front teeth on the asphalt. We were seen right away and the calm bedside manner helped reassure my son so that everything could be cleaned out and stitched back up. His tooth had actually punctured his lip and needed 3 stitches. It healed so nicely and you wouldn't know that anything happened (aside from a small chip that Dr. Schultz said was cosmetic and we could take care of later). So glad that everything worked out so well!

Facility is always clean. Instruments that were being used were immediately cleaned and sanitized and not sitting around. They even have the children wash and sanitize their hands as they walk back to the exam area. Clear information was provided about next steps for care and appointment setting was easy.

I love this place and will not take my kids anywhere else as long as we reside in AZ. Unfortunately my child had quite a few cavities and needed to be put under anesthesia to take care of everything. They did not have an appointment for 3 months out due to how booked the anesthesiologist was. They called me 2 weeks later with an opening and we where able to get my daughters 12 cavities taken care of. The anesthesiologist made sure I was fully aware and informed of the process. The office manager was a pleasure to chat with while Dr.Schultz was working on my daughters teeth at 6AM. Unfortunately my spouse and myself where not educated properly on teeth care both as children ourselves and as parents taking care of our children’s teeth. Instead of making us feel like terrible parents, Dr. Schultz took the time to understand why our daughters teeth had so much damage and educated us to prevent this from happening with our son and again with our daughter. We will not be giving our kids so much apple juice or milk before bed and have really doubled down on a teeth brushing routine for them. If Dr.Schultz worked on adults I would be a loyal client of his. 10/10. 5 stars. Whatever scale you use to rate, Dr.Schultz and his team sit at the top of it. - Adam Fasulo

Dr. S was very rude upon finding out that my 2 and 3 year olds were at the dentist for the first time. (I thought I was doing a good job getting them into the dentist at all, since both children were breast fed, brush their teeth twice per day, and the pediatrician didn't recommend it until age 4.) After a 2 second perusal of the x-rays, I was informed that my daughter needed 2 root canals, 3 crowns, and 3 cavities filled. When I asked if the teeth needed root canals could be pulled, I was told pulling a baby tooth was similar to cutting off a limb. I was then told that my child had "bugs" in her teeth, and the "bugs" would spread if we didn't treat them. I'm not sure if he assumed I was an idiot, or what, but most adults know what bacteria are. Bacteria, not "bugs" cause cavities. Further more, pulling a baby tooth is a frequent alternative to oral surgery in the case of young children. Another potential treatment plan could have been to attempt the use of amalgam fillings. Unfortunately, Dr. S was to busy treating me poorly to discuss treatment plans. I was also told that if I hadn't gotten my child to the dentist today, her jaw would have become swollen, and she wouldn't be able to talk. (This would not have happened unless the infection had spread into her jaw. From the x-rays, it was clear that the cavity was still localized in her tooth, and nowhere near the jaw.) A root canal is a traumatic event for adults, yet alone 3 year olds, and a discussion of all treatment options should occur. When I asked what anesthetic would be used, I was told, "something like benadryl." That wasn't an answer of what the actual drugs being used was. Instead of discussing treatment options, I was shown the door. As a person in the medical field, I found this behavior appalling, and can only assume that Dr. S is not used to talking to people who have actual medical knowledge. I spent the night researching the Journal of American Pediatrics (Dentistry) and discovered that his diagnosis was most likely correct, but the reasons why treatment was chosen was not elaborated, and I felt like it should have been.

I can't convey how strongly I would recommend Dr. S. He has been our children's primary dentist for years. My children love coming to this office. They make every visit great for the kids and they're always happy to come back. Dr. S does not mince words and I love that about him. He truly cares for your children's well being and that's where some of these reviewers are missing the point. Your feelings about how good of a parent you are when it comes to taking care of the health of your children's mouth is less important than him telling you the straight truth about the well being of his patients which happen to be your children. He isn't trying to parent shame you. He wants what is best for your children. Suck it up, let down your pride, and listen to what this professional is telling you about what's happening with the health of your children and what needs to be done to remediate any issues he finds. Dr. S. will always be my children's dentist even if I move 50 miles away.

Great looking office however, Dr. Shultz has no appropriate or plain professional mannerisms. He is extremely judgemental and condescending. I have heard him speak to my children and others in a way that is not acceptable on any level. I could handle that UNTIL I had a billing issue. I am medical billing manager and with extreme knowledge in the field and all corners. This office is not about patient quality care, their focus is revenue and by any means they can. Mis quoting verifications of benefits and trying to balance bill later on contracted in network insurance payers....umm nice try. The Dr doesn't need xrays every visit but has them done as preference...wrong again. Drs do not dictate your benefit usage and approval and nor do they get to decide to utilize a benefit without full disclosure then attempt to charge you because your insurance will only cover so many xrays annually. After today and the last appointment I am saying Farewell and this man is lucky all he got was this review from me.

Reply from Amazing Kidz Pediatric Dentistry
We wish you the best after over 6 years of taking care of your children. My team and I appreciate your feedback and we will learn from it, and from you, to help others as we strive to give our best everyday. While it is very disappointing to read a negative review from you about so many things that we don't control as you are well aware. I do take very seriously my role as a specialist, advocating for children as an oral health care provider to educate and provide the best care to your children. I will always make recommendations to you that will help to prevent and when needed treat any dental problems that we can help with.

We have been going to this office for several years. The office is clean and very kid friendly. My children, especially like the T.V,'s on the ceiling as it is a wonderful distraction and helps to calm their anxiety as they are being treated. The staff is very friendly and have always done a great job at dealing with my kids. And Eileen, who works at the front desk is just the nicest, happiest person I have ever encountered at a doctor's office. Dr. Shults is a skilled dentist and does very well at putting my children at ease. My kids have always enjoyed their experience. Like other parents commenting, I too found Dr. Shults manner to be somewhat patronizing at first but in discussing it with him realized he was simply trying to put me at ease and it came across wrong. It was very clear that it was not his intention. More importantly in the years we have been going there I have seen definite improvements in his approach. Most doctors just ignore feedback and go about doing what they have always done, thinking the patient is the problem, "you can't please everyone". It is very rare and impressive whenever I find a doctor who will consider the feedback they are given and make adjustments to make the experience as pleasant as possible for everyone. The fact that Dr. Shults has done just that is to his credit. I would highly recommend this office to anyone.

I am writing this review to let everyone know how great this office is. As a Dentist myself, I find it is important to have a specialist I can rely on. I am unable to work on my son and do the dentistry myself due to his anxiety. My son needed the help of a specialist. I took him to see Dr Schultz, we arrived and were treated with kindness and a friendly attitude. Dr Schultz is kind and gentle. He put my son at ease. He helped him through his fear. He needed to be sedated and Dr Schultz did the procedure quickly and efficiently. My son did great and the outcome was perfect. I would and will continue recommend Dr. Schultz and his amazing staff to ALL of my friends and patients that need a pediatric dentist. -Dr Abe Miller

I regret taking my kids to Dr. Shultz, his passive aggressive attitude towards me and my kids was unprofessional. He was very condescending about the need for a special toothpaste ($20 a tube) and giving me a guilt trip for not buying it. Do yourself a favor and find a pediatric dentist that really cares for his clients.

You know you have an amazing dentist when your children talk about the best part of the day and they say that it was going to the dentist. The office is clean and fun! There are games for the kids to play while they wait, awesome surfboard exam tables, stickers, and tokens for prizes. Everyone is friendly, helpful, and welcoming. Dr. Shults is amazing (truly)! He takes the time to visit with each child and explain to them, and the parent, how to keep their teeth healthy. He knows his stuff and is so good with the kids. I highly recommend him and his office!

I was very disappointed in our experience with Dr. S. He was condiscending towards my children. My 9 year old struggles with anxiety, and he basically yelled at him for tearing up, telling him he was too old to be crying. My older daughter commented she was feeling nauseous, after waking up from some sedation, and he told her it was in her head, and she needed to not think about it. I have since found an amazing pediatric dentist, who has shared with me that he has received other patients that have had the same experience, with Dr. S. No bedside manner.

Dr. S was highly recommended by family and friends, and I can see why! This place appears to be very clean, professional, with friendly receptionists and dental assistants. If I had a typical kiddo, I'm sure our experience would have been more pleasant and this would have been a 4 or 5 star review. But, I don't have a typical child. My son has Autism and our experience was discrimination. I contemplated discussing this matter privately, but honestly I hope no other parent feels the same way I did. I hope this encourages Dr. S & some of his staff to seek training on how to work with patients on the spectrum & their parents/care givers, or I hope that they'll consider referring patients elsewhere to a dentist that is more comfortable working with these patients. My intent is not to trash Dr. S or his staff by any means, especially with how highly they were recommended. Perhaps he meant well with some of his comments, but it was a case of poor delivery. Either way, my experience was a bad one and I would not recommend Amazing Kidz to anyone with children on the spectrum or with sensory issues.

Dr. Schultz, This is the worst experience we have ever had at a Dental Office. For Starters, for a Practice that is geared towards children, your bedside manner is terrible and completely unacceptable. Telling a three year old that their crying is hurting your ears... And to be more worried about a child scuffing your wall because they are scared to death at their FIRST EVER Dental appointment, rather then try to make the process easier for them? Really? My family left your office feeling about an inch tall, I did not know you could make a three year old feel bad about themselves until leaving your office. The only thing our son talked about the rest of the night was about how mean you were and how scary the experience was. then to insult my wife and tell her Maybe she'll take care of our next baby better (points to her pregnant stomach as you say this). That was completely out of line and inappropriate. Then pressure my wife an additional 5 times after she had already told you she was going talk over the procedure with me, (You want to put a three year old under general anesthesia?) You owe my wife and my family an apology and should feel ashamed of the way you made my entire family feel. Sincerely Justin Rodriguez

Our daughter needed to have supernumerary teeth removed and had a lot of cavities, and Dr. Shults did an amazing job. I highly recommend Dr. Shults and am thankful we found him to treat our daughter. The best dentist, my three kids have been going here for over three years. They actually like the dentist and the staff when we go. The front desk people are very helpful and give lots of notifications so you don't forget your appointment. The way they handle kids is very friendly and caring to give the kids a good exspience so they will want to come back. The kids get to watch cartoon movies on the ceiling as they clean their teeth while laying on surfboard tables. The dentist really cares about what he does and is very straight forward but nice. You can tell he really cares about the children and so does his staff. In this day and age this is the ONLY medical place that I have to take my children that doesn't make me stress out. This is the best dentist practice I have seen for children. I recommend them all the time. I now have friends that say the same.

We have been going to Amazing Kidz Pediatrics for 3 years now. They are so great with my children. There is always a smiling friendly face when you walk in the door. Such a fun kid environment with a movie always playing to help keep the little ones distracted and happy, fun beach themed office with surf board shaped exam tables. The Dr. and his staff are always efficient and helpful with any concerns and questions. Thank you for making one more life routine that much easier.

Worst dentist experience ever!! We came as new patients here after reading the great reviews and we were so disappointed shortly after we arrived. My daughter has had bad teeth all her life and she does her best to take care of them. Dr Shults came in and made her feel about an inch tall and was practically yelling at her. This was all before we had a chance talk to him and tell him her history. This Dr has a terrible bedside manner and seems to take exception to questions. We all have bad days but this was bad and we will never be back.

My kids LOVE Dr. Larry Schultz and his friendly staff. They look forward to going to appointments and getting a non-candy prize! We also appreciate the big pool party he throws every year for his patients for FREE! It's "AMAZING" lol

My son was seen in this office and was on ahcccs at the time they were not rude or judgemental. This dr was amazing after my sons teeth cleaning my son started complaining of pain with a back tooth. I called the office not realizing it was 20 mins after they closed and the dr answered the phone and was willing to stay so i can bring my son back in. Before you write rude comments about a office being judgemental and saying they were mean because you we on ahcccs really give the office a chance. I myself am in the health care field and i feel most people on the state program feel judged from the moment they walk into the door. I can only speak from my experience but i loved this office. I no longer live by this office but after the care my son received i will drive for hours if i have to. It upsets me that some one is really this rude to try to bash a business. Who cares about where he lives and what kind of car he drives. Yes he probably does make a good living but he did the hard work and went to school to be where he is at. Yes people have bad experience but that is any where you go. Stop being so negative and try to be positive in every situation.

I brought both of my girls to see Dr. Shultz. From the minute I walked in the door I felt extremely welcome. All of the staff was extremely friendly and so great with my kids. I have never been to such a fantastically nice and great office. Both of them needed fairly extensive work done and Dr. Shultz was great telling them when he was done they would have beautiful princess teeth! I was extremely happy with our experience there and would gladly recommend them to anyone :)

Great atmosphere and friendly staff. My son had to have two teeth pulled at two separate occasions. First experience was amazing he didn't even seem phased by the procedure. Second experience was not so good as the sedation wore off before the tooth was extracted. He felt pain and was afraid. Even though the last experience was rough I would still recommend Amazing Kids. It is a clean office with great staff and very kid friendly .

DR Shultz I did not like the way you treated my wife by making her feel like she was a bad parent because our family is down on hard times yes we are on access health insurance maby you should not except it. Also who's fault is it when you miss diagnosis a patient and you come out of the operating room when my son is under and you tell my wife it's going to be $100.00 Dallors more cause you found another tooth that needs to be removed ( XRAYS ) then you make her feel bad cause she knows what a 100 bucks mean to us at the moment. Then you go back in after we got a family member to loan us the money you have the balls to say in front of my son while he was supposed to be asleep the fact my wife was upset about 100 bucks and she was driving a new truck and have a expensive purse first off the truck was her grandparents and the purse was 10 years old from target. Dr Shultz get off your high pedi stool and come down to the real world you are just a dentist kinda like a mechanic of the mouth just with a dds next to your name. I would beware of this place all this would have never happened if he would have diagnosed my son better. My thinking is he does this alot trying to get another 100 buck in cash to stick in his back shady dentist here BEWARE

I personally want to apologize if you felt like you received anything less than the best dental care or felt like you did not have a completely upfront approach from my office. We specifically addressed the dental needs with the best diagnosis for your son after taking the necessary x-rays, at which time the options to provide treatment or wait were both discussed. Your wife felt very strongly that she wanted the treatment done at that time, “while he was resting comfortably” and did not want to wait for treatment at a future visit. A quote was then given which she approved, and then she requested we move forward with the treatment, which I agreed to help her with, agreeing with the advantage of not having to return for an additional appointment. I can honestly say that I have never made a diagnosis for my financial gain, but have the best interest of my patients as my top priority and would have been happy to wait on treatment, if that was her request. My goal for each of my patients is to provide the best care, in the best environment for them and if you feel like I gave you anything less than that then I apologize to you. Thank you for your feedback. Dr. Shults

We are so glad we found Amazing Kidz Pediatric Dentistry! When we first showed up to the office my oldest son by needed extensive work done on his teeth. Dr. Shults fixed him right up. Then Dr. Shults called us himself a few days later to make sure he was recovering well and if we had any questions or concerns. I learned a lot about taking care of my kid’s teeth from Dr. Shults and at our last check up both of my sons were cavity free! The staff takes great care to make sure the children are comfortable. My youngest his 2 years old hadn't been on the dentist table yet and this last time we were able to lie him down to get the full cleaning. The Dental hygienist working with him showed him the tools she was going to use and actually let him hold them which just made him that much more comfortable. Thanks for the care you take with my kids!

No parent wants their child to require dental procedures with anesthesia at a young age. Dr. Shults puts the needs of his patients above his compensation and utilizes an anesthesiologist for procedures with toddlers and young children. The care provided by the Dentist, the Anesthesiologist, and their office manager were exceptional.

Dr. Shults and the Amazing Kidz Pediatric Team really understand how important a first impression is to a child, especially when their going to the dentist. My children, ages 7 and 2, have been going to Dr. Shults for the last two years. I still remember their first visit, Dr. Shults took his time to explain to them what he was doing and why. They were comfortable, had fun, they didn't want to leave. I was pretty amazed!! It's hard to find a Dr. who truly cares, loves what he does, and is always on time, but I guarantee you'll find that with Dr. Shults and his staff!

Dr. Shutls is very friendly that is great with children and parents alike. His office is clean, fun, and interactive and the staff is also very friendly. Their hours are great (open very early) and making appointments is easy. My son is 2 years old and he has been there twice for exams and cleanings. I even recieved a text message from Dr. Shutls on my son's birthday which was very kind. I recommend anyone to Amazing Kidz!

Great experience - I had big-time concerns about how our two little boys (ages 1 and 3) would do their first time at the dentist, but they actually somehow had fun. Dr. Shults was very friendly with the boys, and gets down on their level with them so they are completely comfortable - rather than being scared. They even got "goodie" bags to take home! I think Dr. Shults can break your kids of the idea that the dentist is "scary"!

I initially chose Amazing kids dental because it was close to my new home and was covered under my insurance. I had no idea it would be such an incredible experience for my family. Our children really needed a dentist to call home, a place we could visit every 6 months and not have to think about it. The office staff was so easy to work with and friendly on the phone. Plus, I felt that their prices were extremely reasonable. The office opened up early, 7AM. This was helpful with my work schedule. I was greeted by the dentist. That NEVER happens (in my experiences). He advised me about the waiting room. They have ipads on the walls so the kids could play games while I filled out paperwork. The actual location was easy to find and is meticulously decorated with beautiful light fixtures, kid friendly paint (bright colors), and t.v’s on the ceiling for the kids to watch Disney movies (mainly Nemo). I was happy to wait for the kids in the waiting room, but was invited by the dentist to be involved in my children’s cleaning and other work. This dentist has amazing bedside manners. I watched him and the hygienist work on my children. We came for 3 visits during a 2 week period and all experiences were absolutely amazing. It has been 3 weeks since our appointment and the kids are still talking about how to clean sugar bugs out of their teeth. The dentists spoke to them during the entire visit. You can tell that he has a passion for dental work, he loves to help kids, and (most importantly) he’s good at it. He really motivated my children to be better. Let’s just say that my children’s dental hygiene drastically improved since our visit. I can honestly say that my children are looking forward to seeing the dentist. :)

Super impressed with Dr. Shults and his staff! My daughter has an anxious personality and was nervous about having her teeth worked on. Dr. Shults was able to gain her trust and help her be at ease. Now she actually looks forward to going to the dentist. The staff at Amazing Kidz is equally impressive. They are organized and friendly. Their office is beautiful and kid friendly too. Definitely worth the drive out to Mesa to have a dentist we trust and are comfortable with.
