While the office exterior looks grungy, that is not a big problem. Because that is just how South Phoenix is. I am also not worried much about how they cancelled my appointment twice, with less than a day's notice, even though I scheduled it weeks in advance. Because that's how doctors are: if THEY are late/miss that is fine, but if WE are late/miss we get charged, and we just let this happen. My biggest complain, however, is that they lied to me to charge extra for the periodontal cleaning (not fully covered, and you pay partly out of pocket), even though I only needed the regular 6-month cleaning (fully covered by insurance) When I went there first time, they did all the usual (x rays, the periodontal charting, etc.) and then the lady in the office gave me a really big scare about how bad my charting numbers were and how my teeth were just on the verge of periodontitis. She said I have to go for 3 monthly periodontal cleaning from now onward for the rest of the life. I trusted her, but I couldn't believe it. My teeth never ache and I don't even bleed when I floss. I am veganish person who don't even eat hard foods and brush/floss regularly. Receptionists are great and professional, the doctor is as usual (nice, but too VIP to be seen by us mere mortals), but that lady in the fancy office just felt like a scammer. Anyways, I went with first periodontal cleaning (this is where they usually numb the area to clean deep into the gums). Paid out of pocket a couple hundred bucks, only to find out from the dental hygienist (who was great!) that it is not that bad at all, and I'll be ok with 6th month cleaning. Anyways, I switched to a different dental office now. They did the usual (x-rays, periodontal charting) and my teeth were just ok! The worst charting number was a 4 because I have missing premolars on the top so there is a lot of gap there. And they said I only needed the (fully covered) 6 month cleaning. In gist: Avoid these people!

REVIEW AL YOUR CHARGES, GET A 2ND OPINION FROM OTHER OFFICES. I was charged for services they didn't perform and when I brought it their attention they told me they will not reverse the charge and take it up with my insurance. HORRIBLE business practices. I WILL NEVER RETURN.

I normally don’t write reviews but here I am to warn others about this place! I was charged a $100 fee after the receptionist gave me a wrong time for my upcoming appointment so I missed the appointment. I’ve never heard of a place charging clients, especially a dental office a $100 fee for a missed appointment! Also, I had a permanent crown put on top of an infected tooth here that should have had a root canal before the crown was put on! So what do you know, a couple months after the procedure, my permanent crown fell off. They also told me they don’t make payment arrangements so I would have to get a credit card through them. So now I’m paying off something that was never done correctly in the first place! And we know how expensive those procedures can be even with insurance! No compensation, no anything! I also asked to speak with someone higher, the owner of the dental office! But of course, no response, they kept delaying me and everything! Save your time and money and do not go here!

Update: Look at the owners/doctors response below: This shows you he DOESN'T CARE. Why would you ever want your customers to feel taken advantage of, hurt, or mislead. Instead of calling me or telling me to contact the office first thing in the morning to resolve this matter, I was dismissed and told good luck. Very unprofessional and another sign NOT to come to this office! CROOKS. Upon receiving a deep cleaning I found out from another professional in the field that they took advantage of me in multiple ways. One being, the doctor and staff who all see the same chart included wisdom teeth in my services which is a additional fee. The problem is the teeth were removed over 10 years ago!!! I was also charged for a cleaning that wasn’t needed. Unfortunately, since I don’t study dentistry and I trusted the doctor I was taken advantage of. They charged me and my insurance for services that were not needed. Once this was brought to my attention from a dental hygienist, I spoke to the office manager Ginnie who didn’t care, lied and justified everything. I also asked Ginnie to speak with the Doctor and she refused. I called the front desk and left a message for the doctor, he never called me back. This is how the customer is treated! Very sad. They got caught and didn’t like it. I asked Ginnie to contact my Insurance and make a revision and she told me no let the insurance handle it. This was very unprofessional. DONT COME HERE THEY WILL TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU. I can only imagine how many others that have no idea they are being charged for services that aren’t needed or charting teeth to get paid by the insurance. The whole office are crooks!

Wow, I just read that previous review. The office/Dr. did the same thing to me! I was over charged last month. I will never bring my family back!

Reply from Albright Dental Care - Dr. Charles Bryan Jakobsen
Jose, We follow the fee schedules that your insurance gives us. We do not control the fee's. When an office is in network, your insurance company sends us a list of the in network fees. So sorry we were not a good fit for you.

The receptionist and the office manager severely lack proper communication skills, and I was dismissed as a patient and kicked off of the insurance for questioning the manager about why my total amount due kept being increased up to $1,500 more than SHE originally told me. She offered no explanation other than “personal preference”.

I’ve been going here for a few months getting A LOT of work done. I have been to MANY dentists before and I must say I am so happy and trust this team so much. They recognize me now, have accommodated with things happening covid wise etc. I will be finishing all my work here and keeping my Cleaning’s with them. I have never been so happy with an office before and I have lived many places being an Army Veteran and been to many dentists. Thank you and your team so much for being so amazing! My smile is so important to me.

I don't usually leave reviews but here it goes... I just left this office and it was a big waste of my time. Everybody is really nice but the service seemed poor. I went in for a cleaning and I was there for 2 hours just to walk out with no cleaning done. If I had not asked about my cleaning while I was sitting in the chair I would have probably been there for 3 hours without a clue until they had time to go over the plan with me. The way they work is you get an exam and consult if you are new patient. Then they go over the plan of action and schedule you for another day to come back. Feedback for the company, you should tell you patients ahead of time what the expectation is and let the patient decide if thats what they want to do. I went with an expectation of getting a cleaning not an exam and consult. I have never had this experience with any other dental office. If you have time to spare then this is the place for you. Otherwise you are better going somewhere else.

Reply from Albright Dental Care - Dr. Charles Bryan Jakobsen
Mr. Bernal, I do hear you. I will speak to my front office staff about communicating how our office works in regards to patient's expectations. Normally it is always explained on the phone that if you are a new patient we always do the exam and xrays first. We never do a cleaning on the first appointment as there are several different types of cleanings. Until we can see if you have bone loss or a person who has taken great care of there dental health we do not know if you need 30 minuets, 45 minuets or 90 minutes for a cleaning. We also need to find out if you need to be numb or if you need laughing gas. So with all these factors in play it is impossible to know what you need. I do know you were here for some time waiting and your time is important. We were short staffed and were trying to get to you. I wish you the best of care in the future with who ever you choose for your dental needs. We are here if you need us . Dr. B Jakobsen

I've been going to Albright since 2014 and they have taken care of me from the get-go. As a recent college graduate at the time and oral care weren't of much importance growing up, my lack of care built up over the years. With over $2, 500 worth of work, how was I going to afford that, let alone endure the untrained oral pain? Dr. Jakobsen and his team not only worked with me to make payments but also made sure each appointment was as painless as possible. Since then, I have moved multiple times throughout Phoenix and currently reside in Tucson and I still make the trip for every appointment! I trust Dr. Jakobsen and his team to provide me the best possible care when it comes to my oral health! Overall, I want to commend the Albright team. Everyone from the front desk receptionist, Diana, and Wendy who was before her, always welcomes me with a friendly and sweet greeting. Ginny and the new staff who handles payments and scheduling are also amazing and try their best to work with your schedule and payments. And the dental assistants are young but hard-working and attentive, which is rare when it comes to a dental office as a whole. Lastly, my favorite part of Dr. Jakobsen's office is that he prefers Northern Arizona University Alumni, as that's my alma mater, I will continue to do business with Albright Dental Care for as long as I'm in Arizona! Go Jacks! :D

Great availabilities. You can get in the same day or after. Not the cleanest of offices- a pungy smell hits you as you walk in. Broken glass right outside of the office and graffiti everywhere. Could be because it is adjacent to a Circle K. Sketch neighborhood- make sure to park your car where you can see it.

Reply from Albright Dental Care - Dr. Charles Bryan Jakobsen
Hello Penny, I am so sorry you did not enjoy your visit to our office. I do agree with you the design is something we are changing this year. The restroom is so close to the waiting area that sometimes it can be a little "pungy" When we remodel we are changing this. Thank you for letting us know about the broken glass we never know when people walk by and break items in our parking lot we will take care of it right away. Thank you so much for your review.

My husnand and I had an awful experince at this place. PLEASE AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS. My husband and I scheduled an appointment here in December 2016 because We had an HMO plan and this was the default place. We wanted to do our annual cleaning/ check up before the end of the year, and we didn’t have time to research a decent office.Gosh, how much I regretted making that decision and here is why: Dangerously unhygienic: The office sign was broken and had graffiti all over it (I think it still is when I drive by) and there were debris and trash everywhere which usually doesn’t scream for a great dental office, but we walked into the lobby and it was okay. My husband went in first and had his free annual dental check up, but didn’t get any services done. They recommended treatments and asked him to schedule an appointment. When I walked into the room for my check- up I was stunned by how unhygienic it was. There were old opened tools sitting on a table that appeared to be very dusty. I coudln’t tell if the tools were from a previous patients or new tools that were open and just laying around, but the thought grossed me so much that I started puking. I told them that I was sick and if it was okay to call and reschedule for a different day, and they said it was fine. You are obviously not shocked that I never called back to schedule a new appointment. We never returned back. They are FRAUD: A few monthes after that experience I started getting calls from a collection agency named US Collection West for a blance for Albright Dental. I called Albright Dental and they told me that it was for a no call no show. I informed them that I showed up, and they said it was okay to cancel because I got sick. It took months of back and forth calls and faxes for them to clear the amount, but only after I had threatned both that I was going to get an attorney and fight the charge even thought it was a small amount of $65. Past forword to this month, my husband just got a negative mark on his Credit Report. When we checked - you guessed it right, it’s from Albright Dental for the same amount of $65 from December 2016 even though he never went back to them. We have reached out to them to see what the amount is for, but we have yet to hear back. We are going to fight it all the way and expose them. I don’t even leave reviews but you guys were awful, I had to warn others. Edit: If I could give you negative stars, I would.

I am so sorry we are not a good fit for your dental needs. However as many of our patients know we are a great fit for them. As for the details we would never have dirty instruments in a patient room. This is a financial move to discredit our office, we understand this. At every new patient appointment to our office it is always a New patient exam and full series of xrays. We do not do cleanings on the first visit, it is not a one size fits all service. Some people need 30 mins, some need 1 hour some need 2 hours for a cleaning and since we have never seen your mouth till the first visit we would not know how long to schedule you for. I hope you find the office that works for you and we wish you the best.

I have contacted this office 3 times. 2 phone calls and left voice mails, and one appointment request through the website in the past 2 weeks. No one has contacted me. I have read many great reviews and my insurance states you are taking new patients. Even if you are not taking new patients you could at least let me know.

I love this office but I'm a bit upset at leaving a message to set an appointment and don't receive a call back...i left 2 messages last week for denture adjustments as I can't wear my bottoms and I didn't get a call back...i know they are extremely busy and I give them a high rating because usually the call back time is 24 hours...im hoping they check their machine more often. Other then that I would still recommend this office 100%.....

I have always had dental/dentist anxiety. I never thought I would ever be comfortable not only in a dentists chair, but also with the dentist. Kyle is amazing at putting you at ease. He's friendly and down to earth. Its also a bonus that he likes video games. =) Dr. Jakobsen is absolutely amazing. I've never in my life been completely comfortable with a doctor before, much less a dentist, until I met him. He treats you like a person, not just a patient. He's kind and understanding and genuinely wants to help you. I can't say enough about how much I appreciate this man and the staff at Albright!

I would highly recommend this dental office. The staff is courteous and very friendly. I took my 4 year old in for her first dental appointment and the staff helped to provide her with an excellent first-time experience. I'm not one who enjoys going to the dentist but Dr. Jakobsen has changed my perception quite a bit. I had numerous fillings done and he was by far the best dentist I have ever gone to. I didn't feel any pain and he did great work. Overall it was great experience and I look forward to my future appointments here.

As long as you don't have to be seen by Dr. Paulos, this place is great! I hate dentists because of bad experiences but the people at this place are so nice and understanding! I especially love Brenda! She's always so concerned and does her best to make sure that you know what's going on and takes time for you if you're having issues. I can't rave enough about this place! Oh, and the prices are great too! Trust me, go see them :)
