Mountain State Oral and Facial Surgery

I went in for wisdom teeth removal. Everyone was really nice. Minimal pain & everything seems to be healing properly. I would recommend for sure.

Friendly staff, made my daughter feel comfortable as she had her wisdom teeth removed. They even called that afternoon to check on her and they said to call if we had any concerns and they have 24/7 answering services available

Getting a tooth pulled is not an enjoyable thing to have, however the staff at Mt. State made the experience as good as it can be with their expertise, informative, very friendly, with very little pain. Thank You to all. Doug

The whole experience made me so very comfortable from walking in the door until I walked out the door. The receptionist was so nice and helpful. The dental technician made me feel so relaxed and helped me to not feel so anxious. The Dr. was so wonderful and kept reassuring me that everything was ok. This was such a wonderful experience and if needed I would return there. Thanks for getting me through this.

Friendly & courteous nurses. The doctor was very positive and helpful. He made a recommendation that saved me a lot of money. Everyone took the time to explain everything from the procedure to breakdown of the billing. Short wait time. This was the most positive experience that Ive had at any kind of dental office. I highly recommend these guys. If I could give more than 5 stars I would.

Had the worst experience of mine and my sons life here.The dr has no bedside manners. He judged my son by just looking at him said he couldn't do his surgery because he's autistic being autistic doesn't make him any less of a person because he didn't do what he asked in a split second like he wanted this dr is rude and apparently judges people by the way the look and by disabilities and doesn't have time for them I dont recommend any parent or anyone with any type of disabilities to take there child or loved one to this place the nursing staff there are awesome my son didn't mind them they were outstanding by they can only do so much the staff even agreed that he was in the wrong of how they treated us

Fantastic experience. The office was well run. The examination rooms were modern and clean. I was kept informed the whole time. The procedure was quick and recovery time was much shorter than expected. Highly recommend!

Wonderful experience at Mountain State Oral and Facial Surgery! Awful to have a tooth extracted but the staff there made it an actual pleasant thing to go through, amazing people and Dr. Ravelo was awesome! Was given pain meds after the fact and I only needed one pill, literally no pain! Highly recommend!!! Thank you to the doctor and staff!!! ?

I got surgery done on November 30th 2021 & had one of my bottoms molars out & I think my top two wisdom teeth & Dr.Ravelo was great. Super nice, understanding, explained everything very well & I’m super glad I ended up getting him to do the surgery. My only issue is my jaw feels stiff I guess & locked, I can barely open my mouth. I can’t fully open it & I’m honestly scared it’s gonna be like that for good. It’s been a week & some days now. It’s miserable because I can’t really eat anything, chew, get a spoon or fork in my mouth or even yawn right & it’s really sore. I would like to know what to do or to be able to come in & see what’s going on. Other than that though, everything else was great.

The staff was very knowledgeable the nurses answered every question the doctor informed me of my risks, and they helped ease my anxiety service was very quick and everything that they prepared me for was accurate I highly recommend this place. I got 4 wisdom teeth removed, no pain at all didn’t even need the pain meds they sent me home with only tough part is not being able to eat lol other than that they earned every bit of the five star rating I left them.

The staff and doctor were so sweet and made me feel so comfortable!

after waiting over 2 weeks to get in to see them and paying a significant amount of money out of pocket, we were told to wait on a call back from them to schedule a procedure, to give them time to check on how much $$ insurance would cover; a week later and still no call back from them; when we called to ask about scheduling, we were told we have to pay over $1,600 in cash before they will schedule. My advice, find another office.

My wife just went today and the staff were unprofessional and rude. Expect horrible wait times and little to no communication during the visit.

Such a friendly office! My 17 year old had her wisdom teeth removed last week and it was amazing how quick the process was. Staff is ultra friendly and obviously knowledgeable. My daughter is a "hard stick" and was very anxious about having an IV and they calmed her anxiety- the Dr joked with her telling her he was "a vampire"and for her not to worry about the IV. They gave us thorough instructions after the procedure. I highly recommend this office! ❤

Very rude. Nurse was rude because she couldn't get the iv in the vain the first time. Then the dentist was very rude. The only sedated me so I heard everything that they said. The dentist had said "I will never work on this patient again she's too much trouble" like really how much trouble can a sedated patient be. Then the next day I got really sick to my stomach nauseous. So I called the dentist and asked them about it. They said "well it could not have been anything that we used. You might want to go to hospital!!" DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.

This office has done nothing to help facilitate and getting help to go to the hospital and remove the abscess and have a biopsy none. I wasn't given any antibiotics 3 months ago. Since then my cardiologist called me from UVA along with my neurologist and can't understand why they're not moving on this. I call their office just to be screamed at by the receptionist so unprofessional.

Very friendly staff. They seemed very busy but staff still found a way to smile and were very polite and welcoming. One assistant even told me she liked my shoes.?. Dr ravelo (apologies if I misspelled his name) was very friendly as well as very informative concerning my son’s condition. Great experience and I already recommended your office to a friend. Dr. Salgueiro and Kat were absolutely wonderful yesterday! They treated me like family and I was afraid to have my wisdom teeth extracted but once I had them done, I'm not feeling any type of pain! It was such a wonderful experience with them!

I have been here twice in the last 5 years. The second time there was an issue with booking (they lost my appointment) but they got it worked out, kept my appointment time, and everything went well. The staff there is amazing! The doctors are by the book and professional. They even call to follow up with you at home after your appointment! Great experience both times here!

My son with autism went in yesterday to get four wisdom teeth cut and pulled out. We went to the facility appt was for 930 we were seen finally at 11:00am. He was fasting since 12 am the previous day. We completed the surgery went home to give him ibuprofen. I gave it to him he was still in sever pain to the point he is screaming it hurts make it stop. I call the dentist office the dr states if it is still bad tomorrow I will call something in. Well it is tomorrow I was up until 3 to 4 am this morning and my sons teeth are still bleeding a whole 24 hrs later. I am contacting the board of dentistry. My son is a human not a guinea pig and he is handicapped. Heading to the er shortly.

Not a fan of dentists so you will know the feelings I would have with an oral surgeon. But I also don’t practice good oral health. Had four extractions, the final one lifted me out of the chair and Doctor saw this and heard my “stop please” sound. Got it numbed up a little more and all went fine.

Our daughter Fawntana had to have her two top wisdom teeth removed. We had requested Dr. M. Salgueiro be the oral surgeon due to the wonderful experience and care we had received in 2017 when Dr. Salgueiro had removed her bottom wisdom teeth. The wonderful staff was able to give Fawntana an appointment within six days for the removal of her wisdom teeth. Upon entering the office we were greeted by the kind and caring staff in each department. Once Fawntana was in the chair to speak to Dr. M. Salgueiro, we were informed by him that Fawntana had not only her wisdom teeth, one on each side, but one extra tooth on the top left side. Dr. Salgueiro promised to remove all three teeth if possible at this visit. Within an hour, my daughter Fawntana was brought safely back to our vehicle by the caring nurse that we had started with. The care ❤ provide from this facility was top notch! We have taken our daughter for two different oral surgeries and have received the utmost care and respect both times from the doctor and staff. Thank you Dr. M. Salgueiro, Mountain State Oral Surgery and all Staff for the PHENOMENAL CARE ❤ that everyone gave to our daughter Fawntana. God Bless you all!

Plan on waiting at least an hour after your appointment before you are seen

Horrible experience! I would not recommend ever going here for dental work! Totally barbaric! Lack of knowledge and so called dentist totally aloof and arrogant. I was treated like an ignorant person and belittled by this man that did not realize that I had experience working for a dentist and also 10 years hospital experience. I left in tears and bruised! Even my wrist bruised from being held down. exposed to unnecessary pain due to his refusal to sedate me and did not even offer nitrous! I was sent there for sedition due to trouble with being able to be numbed sufficiently! After he tortured me knowing I had stomach issues refused to give anything other than Motrin ! This is 2021 people! What Dr. does that? They definitely need a visit from the State Dental Board. And I will be calling to report this! Beware!!

Had to get wisdom teeth removed, and as someone who has had some traumatic experiences with doctors and doctor offices I was weary at first. The nurses were exceptional at making me feel a lot less panicked and full of nerves. However when my so called surgeon entered to do a consult before the operation it went down hill from there. To start he did not introduce him self and made me feel belittled based on my answers to his questions. I have a hard time talking openly with anyone about anything and his responses felt very judgmental and flat out rude, bed side manners are important so patients can feel that trust and lack of judgment when you are being open and honest. He began to trigger me and my anxiety went through the roof. I was holding back tears and even spoke with my driver telling them I didn't want to go through with it because of how his attitude towards me during the consult was. Very unprofessional and its honestly a shame that ANYONE let alone people who have any kind of depression or anxiety would have to go through. I highly suggest that if you have had bad experiences with doctors that this place is one you should avoid.

They refused my appointments because I couldn't get transportation. When I call there is barely an answer so the receptionist has marked me down as a no show and placed a note to not set appointments with me anymore. I feel really Discriminated against and I am going to seek action! I am a diabetic and transportation is hard for me. I am in pain and I am being refused an appointment. The receptionist is always nasty and rude with me even in person. I know I'm being racially prefilled by her.

I was there today for what I thought would be oral surgery while I was under anesthesia. The dr was concerned that I took sips of water a few hrs before anaesthesia. Since I didnt listen to instructions, we chose to numb me and just pull the wisdom tooth and molar that I came fo. Dr Salguiero is stern, but he has to be because if I'd have lied to him about how much I ate or drank, I could've died. Anesthesia makes some nauseated and vomit. So they are a dental clinic, not hospital and aren't equipped for aspiration. He had the 2 teeth out I literally 3 minutes ( I clocked him). He is a wonderful dr an I would recommend him to anyone. Also, all the nurses, and receptionists were wonderful and kind. I have been traumatized by dental experiences, but today renewed my faith in dentisits. ??

Honestly, I never leave reviews but as a parent I feel it’s important. My 10 year old daughter was referred to this practice to have 8 teeth pulled while under anesthesia. When entering the building the nurses and staff were welcoming and very friendly. After waiting patiently over an hour past our consultation appointment time we were put in a room where that nurse was very friendly and personable. Then it changed when the surgeon entered the room. He was arrogant and acted as if we were wasting his time. He then went on to say “you need to decide if you want her under anesthesia” proceeds to look directly at my 10 year old daughter and say “because I’m telling you in advance I don’t fight with anyone”. She immediately became nervous and I could tell that. I go on to ask him if he recommended anesthesia over laughing gas. When he replies “no, I don’t know her...I literally just met her. That’s your decision”. He maybe spent 3 minutes with us. Though he did ask before leaving if I had any questions. I didn’t because I knew this man would not be touching my daughter. The nursing staff was great....surgeon had horrible bed side manner and honestly he was plain rude and unprofessional. We will not be having the procedure done there.

Very professional

It was totally painless. In had a wisdom tooth extracted plus others dealt with. Everyone was sweet and funny and so obviously caring. I had a wonderful visit and recommend them to everyone. 5 stars aren't enough!

They are very rude and unprofessional, I was supposed to be sedated, and there nurse couldn't get an IV in me, she said I'll be right back, the Dr. came back with her and said she can't sedated you, your dehydrated, (they told me not to eat or drink anything 8 hours before my procedure, there fault), I can just numb you and pull them out out. When I said no, that I would much rather be sedated, I became the enemy because they couldn't perform there jobs right

I went here yesterday and they gave me ibuprofen after I got 4 wisdom teeth tooken out. My whole left side of my face is swelled and bruised , i literally have a black eye. I've never been in so much pain. This is day two and I've kept ice packets on my face 24/7 and the swellen is not getting better. When I left the place they gave me two ice packs that is the size of my finger that wasn't even cold. This place doesn't even deserve a one star. Last night I couldn't sleep cause I was still bleeding and puking up blood. My face looks so bad that I don't even wanna walk out in public.

The thing that is comforting, is to read the other reviews. I at least know that I am not the only person who felt like the surgeon was rude, and belittling. He didn't take the time to truly explain the process, or what I should do if I experienced an issue as he was working. Then, he thought it was acceptable to yell at me. He told me that this was a very hard job and that I needed to help make it easier for him. In my career,, i have never yelled at a customer, nor have i pushed my stress from my job off on to them. If this job is too hard, he may need to find a different career. I was clear about the fact that I had anxiety about a procedure that I have never had done before. I was clear about the issues that may arise on my end. To pay the amount of money that I paid, in order to be belittled and yelled at by a "professional" is uncalled for. I am so thankful for Dentists like Dr. Michael Fizer. If I only had experiences like the one that I had with your surgeon, I would never go back. Luckily, people like Dr. Fizer exist to make up for the horrible ones that I experienced at your establishment.

I was taken back for my extractions over an hour late. Was unable to be put to sleep because my veins are hard to stick sometimes and decided to go ahead with the extractions with just the numbing. Then after two tries of numbing my gums on the lower teeth, could not get them numb at all. Because I was all prepared for the procedure, I agreed to go ahead and have the lower teeth taken out with nothing. This was a brutal procedure and would not recommend it to anyone. My doctor was not very warm and fuzzy and that left a distant feeling with me. He did congratulate me on being a very brave patient. I had just gone through torture.

I write very few negative reviews but felt it important in this case. People need to know what is going on at this clinic before going. I called and made appointment here because I needed a tooth pulled and bone graft done. I am a disabled veteran and suffer from PTSD. I do not do well with dental work because of anxiety. I was looking for someone who did sedation to help me through the procedure. When I made my appointment I was assured that they have dealt with my problem in the past and they could help me. When I arrived I was met by some very kind staff but it turned quickly when Dr Salgueiro entered the room. He came in the room and never introduced himself. He was very controlling and rude. Dr Salgueiro did not care what I had to say about anything. He acted as though I should be grateful to be in his presence. I chose to have him do the procedure since I did not have many options. One of his questions to me while preparing for the procedure was when I had last eaten. I told him 8 or 9 pm the prior evening. He said in a very condescending way “well which is it?”. I said I was not sure. He continued demanding I tell him if it was 8 or 9. I found this a little odd since I was told to not eat after midnight. Why did it matter. I was eventually hooked up to an IV and waited for him to return. A short time later he did return and he told me he would not sedate me because I was “too nervous”. He said that if I was too nervous before sedation, I would wake up even more nervous. At that point I demanded a refund and left the office. He had pushed me too far. My wife is a doctor so I later checked with several contacts who are in the medical field and not one of them has ever heard of what he claimed. Since I live near Lewisburg, I wasted almost an entire day driving to the clinic and home with out getting any kind of treatment. The infection in my mouth returned and I am back in severe pain and swelling with no relief in sight until the following week. If you read this review, please go back and read several other reviews about the same doctor for the exact same issues. The clinic keeps answering the reviews, claiming they care and will make changes but obviously they don’t. Thank you for taking the time to read my review. I hope I help save you from the same issue I had, and obviously many others have had.

Dr was very short, not informative when I was making my decision, was simply told "I will do it the same way whether you are awake or if you are not" it was a horrible experience for me. Nurses and such are very sweet but the surgeon has absolutely horrible "bedside manners"

I took my son there for wisdom teeth extraction and the team did very well. I would recommend Mountain State Oral and Facial Surgery in Beckley to everyone that has to have any type of oral or facial surgery done!! The staff were friendly and accommodating, they were wonderful!!!

My 16 y/o had her four impacted wisdom teeth removed and everything went so very smoothly and fast. The staff at Mountain State Oral and Facial Surgery were at the door to greet us, check our temperatures, and ask us the pertinent questions during these difficult and frightening time. Not only did the wonderful staff of Mountain State Oral and Facial Surgery take the time to ensure their patients safety at their busy workplace, they did it with a smile and friendly demeanor. We had a great experience and left with a gorgeous smile!

I will never take a family member there again had spend 1200.00 at another oral surgeon to fix what they wouldn’t fix

I went to Mountain State Oral for my wisdom teeth removal and although the nurses were nice and professional, the surgeon was rude and made me feel belittled. I won’t be returning for any type of dental work.

Everyone here was so professional and sweet. I was so nervous about having my teeth pulled but they put all my fears at ease. As I was waking up , I remember having a moment of panic but I felt someone holding my hand, my eyes were still shut so I don't know who it was. So whoever that was, thank you for being there for me in that way. Obviously with having the procedure I had I'm going to have discomfort and swelling but I feel like even as far as that goes it's been very minimal so far. Would also like to add how thankful I am for the added precautions the whole team took to protect not only themselves but patients from COVID 19. You all truly are amazing !

From the time I was checked in at the door, to the time I left, I was treated with cheerful, courteous, professional care. The office was clean, and social distancing was observed. Wait time was minimal, and cost was reasonable. I was also pleased to hear they are opening another office in Mercer County. I won’t hesitate to recommend them.

I was terribly anxious about my procedure. The entire staff was excellent. I really appreciate the way they handled all my questions and the whole procedure was done very fast and effective. I had multiple teeth removed and four wisdom teeth. Exceptional. I would recommend to anyone !!!

Was one of the worst experiences I ever had at dentist office. Only reason gave them a two star was because of the dental assistant which was kind. The dentist came in never introduced himself, he came in acting as if he had been bothered. As he was numbing I did moan which I quess was an octave higher than he thought it should be. Was extremely rude told me to stop yelling undoubtedly he doesn’t know the difference in a moan and yelling. Told him I was sorry that I could not help it. He proceeded to tell me that I could help it and stop yelling. Which like I said was a moan. One of the rudest dentist ever . I had just had a root canal earlier that day at Dr Winkler’s office. The experience was like night and day Dr Winkler kind professional and reassuring. And yes I did moan a little there too during numbing. Dr.Winkler was the best experience ever. This doctor could definitely take a few pointers from him. One more thing the office was not as clean as it should be either. Night and day difference there also in comparison to Dr. Hinklers office.

The nurses where polite and professional but the surgeon I had (Martin Salgueiro) was particularly Rude to me pre-op. He also neglected to trim my stitches so now they are constantly bumping the other stitchings he left to long. Still haven’t stopped bleeding. I understand wisdom teeth removal is not a pleasant experience but I think I would’ve just rather kept them in my mouth.

Excellent staff. Very friendly and professional. All details about procedures and prices are very well explained. They treat you as if you were family.
