This place is ridiculous. I’ve been calling over and over and no one answer the phone. They keep sending me a bill and I have insurance! Someone from the office called back but could provide absolutely nothing because she wasn’t from billing. She was just returning voicemails. With no intention of solving the issues. My daughter had a simple extraction and covered 100% by my insurance but they haven’t even billed the insurance. This is awful. I’ll never go here again.

Reply from Children's Dental Services
Dear Nadrea, I am sorry you experienced this issue. CDS is going through some unprecedented temporary staff shortages due to the pandemic. Please call the billing team directly at 612-746-1530 ext. 820 and they will be happy to help you right away. CDS is working very hard to provide care to all in need during this difficult time.

My daughter had to get a baby root canal and they were so good and gentle with her. She is high energy and our family dentist had a hard time getting her to relax but the dentist here easily made her feel comfortable. In fact she is requesting they be her regular dentists, so we will be back!

I called for a month to get a hold of someone to get my daughter put on a wait list to be sedated for a treatment. I was told she would be put on the list, I was told emails were sent and I kept asking for a confirmation. Finally I called and basically demanded I speak to someone about it, only to be told I had to come in again to sign paperwork to put her on the list and to speak to a doctor. A MONTH I have been calling. Extremely negligent.

This is the absolute worst dentist ever. I have 7 kids and have been to multiple. I would never take my dog there to be seen. They can’t answer any questions. Everything I asked them they said they don’t know and didn’t try to find a answer from someone else. They did not listen to me or my son when I asked to give more numbing. Instead they held my baby down more and continued to torture him. I have seen my children get tooth pulled multiple time. Never have I seen my child held down or screaming and saying it hurt so much. They do not care about children at all. I’m sure my son will be scared of them now.

Reply from Children's Dental Services
Dear Tondelaya, We always appreciate receiving constructive feedback and regret that your experience did not meet your expectations. We review every concern received, and determined that our dental clinicians provided appropriate treatment consistent with standards of quality care. Please feel free to contact us directly as we are happy to discuss your concerns. Thanks so much, Children's Dental Services.

Went in for a 10 mins. Appointment is basically waste my time to be off from work. They only count how many cavity she have. Did not do any xray. My daughter is on the waiting list for hospital. Would be nice if they answered phone call and update parent on waiting list. It will also be nice if they return phone call back. Phone call to schedule an appointment do take at least 30 mins. If you call around noon. Best to call first thing in the morning.

Clinic was uncomfortable, dentist only looked at our daughter for a few seconds and gave us a quick answer without really finding the issue. After the exam the staff was not very courteous and just sat in the room after without directing us anywhere, very awkward.

Staff is amazing and my kids have made friends with one of the assistants! Dr Zimmerman has done wonders for my boys! Both my boys have sensory issues and one has ADHD and Dr Z talks to them and explains everything he is doing and how things work and or used for! He is an honest Dr and a family man! He always ask how we are doing and gives us an update on his family! Hands down a good family man! His staff is all so sweet and makes sure my kids are taken care of! Thank you guys for loving my babies as your own!!

Went to this location 2021. Parents please read this: This Dentist service is NOT suitable for young children, especially 5 and under. The other bad reviews should be taken to heart. The dentist claimed 6 years experience with kids, yet apparently hasn't learned anything to lessen the first real experience of extensive dental care. No posters to look at, nothing was explained to my child like the drill or the cleaning instruments. To say they were terrified is an understatement, and as a parent I found myself filling in what was all happening. I tried to keep up their bravery. They do lie to you, they don't x-ray or clean, just a very very rough examine before trying to push a crown on any known cavity. Parents, do your research, keep knowledge on common dentistry practices. If your child starts to panic because they're scared it's incredibly difficult to come back from that to get any dental work done. This facility itself is so bare, no pictures, nothing cheerful. The rooms have adult sized chairs, that's not appropriate for children. Their instruments are not carefully laid out, i.e. probably not clean as I saw few sterilized individual packaging. It felt they never wrote what the appointment was for ahead of time, had you fill out a form when you get to your actual day. Unprofessional, unorganized, unfriendly rooms, only the reception was nice. You've been warned, find another place for your young children. They really need to learn from other children's dentists.

They weren't terrible, but definitely not a place I would refer people to. I took my almost 3 year old to the Minneapolis office. I sat in the chair with my daughter while 3 workers surrounded us discussing how understaffed they were. They also were very brief in discussing my concerns. They gave me a one sentence response to my concerns about having her tooth pulled. I'm not sure if they were downplaying the pain with getting a shot, but my daughter screamed and kicked through it. She can exaggerate sometimes, but I'm not confident that it truly was only pressure and not pain.

Terrible experience with doctor DO. She drilled into my 3 year olds lip on the inside during a crown insert procedure. She was aggressive with the tool hands, arms and words. She kept telling my daughter that if she didn't stop crying she would not go home! She also said that if my daughter continued to cry she would not do any work on her. I repeatedly asked Dr.Do to not speak to my daughter that way which only causes trauma. When I saw her grip my daughters head aggressively I immediately shouted and said to her to not treat her that way. She continued and ignored me. This particular doctor shouldn't even have a license to Drill let alone teach because she doesn't have the patience. She's rude and inconsiderate of others. She had no empathy. She emotionally abuses her patients. I know this because I worked there back in 2006 and obviously she still works the same way. She's a disgrace to the company.!

I was glad i found a dentist that was open during covid and I was able to get in to have a broken tooth pulled even though I wasn't a patient. Staff seemed friendly. Cost was great. When I got the bill I was happily surprised that it wasn't through the roof. It is based more for children but they will see adults as well.

I went in 2 weeks ago for mouth pain they took xrays and said nothing wrong they don’t know why it hurts in one side. Last night I was eating a muffin and the same tooth I was complaining about cracked in half. Ow I have a hole in my mouth and is in so Much pain. From the start they acted like they didn’t want to service me and had an attitude when I kept saying it hurts to the tough even when she was touching with her instruments I made it clear it hurts bad . And they still did nothing

Dental assistant was very helpful- I feel bad that I didn't get her name. But! The dentist that seen my child was clearly aggravated and very rough and vaguely explained what she was doing before poking in my daughter's mouth which of course scared her. YOU CAN'T POKE A 5 YEAR OLD AND EXPECT THEM TO BE CALM! This place is dirty and smells bad. Definitely not the place to take children. They said they would like me to sign a form to use restraint straps on my child- THIS IS WHY PEOPLE ARE SCARED OF THE DENTIST! There is no way in hell I would strap my child to a chair so some angry little old lady can poke around in her mouth. I got out of there as fast as possible. Absolute insanity.

Reply from Children's Dental Services
Hi Victoria, I am sorry that you had this experience. Restraints are used, if the parent/guardian approves, to protect the patient so that they do not hurt themselves during care. Children's Dental Services will not use them if the parent/guardian does not approve. We appreciate the feedback on your experience and will work to remedy the situation appropriately. We hope you will consider trying again at Children's Dental Services. CDS Management

Set up a whole exam and scheduled work only to show up for an appointment and be told that I need to go somewhere else. Instead of confirming the appointment the Friday before I should have been referred out ahead of time to have a greater chance of scheduling somewhere else. Thought it was a good choice seeing as they work on pregnant women, but I would definitely reconsider if you are thinking of coming here. Understandable it's a children's clinic but communication and ways of handling certain situations can definitely be improved. Now I have to pick up my records and find a clinic in a matter of two months to scramble and get some type of work completed when I could've been referred out back in July and not wasted time or money traveling to an appointment just to be turned away.

I’ve had 2 different experiences with this service and both have been extremely disappointing. Not only are the sites impossible to find but the dentists are rude and the locations are in meeting rooms or shut down areas. I would expect better than feeling like I am getting 3rd world dental care. It is a shame that this is the only options for our foster children who already go through so much to be deemed “less than” that they get a pop up chair in some random room. The only positive thing I can say is the phone operators are very friendly and helpful.

Reply from Children's Dental Services
Dear Ms. Cortez, I am sorry for this experience. CDS works hard to provide high quality care for all people in all of its locations. Some of its school and community-based care is co-located with other organizations in order to bring necessary care directly into the communities being served and CDS can not always dictate what is going on with regards to construction in those locations. CDS has a beautiful new location located at 728 E Hennepin, Minneapolis, MN 55413 and we would be happy to provide care to you in that location if you would prefer. We will be sure to pass along this review to our providers. Thank you for your review. Children's Dental Services Management.

IS NOT SPECIAL NEEDS FRIENDLY. I had the worse experience of my life . My five year old had tooth pain . Side of his face was swollen took him here & this was by far the worse experience of my life . I had explain to the nurses and Doctors, also wrote on his paperwork he’s Autistic and is Non Verbal. Have anxiety when coming to a doctor office . The nurse was so rude and didn’t even want to take on my child . Had me and my child sit in the hallway until another doctor would see him . As the other doctor came he was fussing didn’t want to sit so they retrain him and checked his tooth . He was upset screaming kicking and the nurse pulled me to the side and said we are referring him somewhere else . Told me to take my child to the our car and that they would explain everything and bring our referral to the car ! I was upset and shocked because my child was uncomfortable screaming because of discomfort . He has to continue to be in pain because they refused to treat him because of his special needs !

Took my 2 year old here because they told us he needed a crown on his molar. He was scared when we got there and they said they had to strap him down to the chair. They said it takes 30 min for a crown to be put on, which means for 30 min my child would have been screaming in terror while he's restrained to the chair, mouth pryed open, etc. They kept pushing me to sign the consent for restraint. I said this whole thing was making me uncomfortable and kept asking questions. They seemed annoyed that I questioned them. They kept saying they do this all the time. I left and I'm never taking my kid back there. The place was filthy. When I called a new dentist office and described Children's Dental services, they were horrified and couldn't believe it was an actual dentist for children.

Reply from Children's Dental Services
Hi Weaver, I am so sorry to hear about your experience at Children's Dental Services (CDS). At CDS we strive to provide excellent care for our patients. Our clinical staff have years of experience providing care for children and take a lot of care and consideration to be sure children are not scared during their experience. The dental papoose is used for the safety of the child and is used to ensure that quality care can be provided, safely. We always walk through the reasons for this and have parents/guardians sign a consent form prior to its use. I am sorry that you did not feel that this was thoroughly explained to you. We welcome questions and always want our families to feel comfortable. Please give us a call at 612-746-1530 if you have any questions or further concerns- we are sorry about your experience and if you choose to come back to CDS we would work with you to improve your future experiences. -Children's Dental Services

I scheduled an appointment with them in early febuary for my 4 year old who has bad tooth pain in his back tooth. I explained that i have took him to the ER in regards to the pain. They scheduled an appointment. About 2 days befote the appointment they called to reschedule due to not enough staff. So i rescheduled to the Next earliest apt and guess what. They had to reschedule due to construction. Fast forward to today july 19th. I have been reschedule 5 times for really stupid crazy reasons. I suggest going somewhere else where they will actually care about patients.

Reply from Children's Dental Services
Hi Brittani, I am sorry that you have not had good experiences here at Children's Dental Services. We have hired, and are continuing to hire new providers to help increase access to care so that we do not have to reschedule appointments. We are very booked up for our patients with restorative needs and due to that made the decision to renovate our clinics to increase capacity- which is the rescheduling that you likely experienced this time around. We again apologize for that and would be happy to work with you again in the future or work with you on referring you to another provider while we finish up construction and officially have increased capacity. Thank you and we hope that you have better oral health experiences in your future! Best, CDS Management

From reading the reviews I am not the only one. I thought I had booked my appt at the Hennepin location but arrived to find out the my were remodeling and had to go to the location on Broadway northeast. Red flag right there. Sorry to say Broadway is not a reputable street in any part of the city. Really easy to find. But oh wait until you get in there. Strong smell of cheap bleach. But they need something cause the sick kids in the waiting room. Sneezing and coughing! They made of needed more than that! Broke toys and below average decor and cleanliness. But they say never judge a book by its cover. I have to fill out paperwork and proceed to the back for X-rays. A Muslim woman that pretty much didn't say anything to me took forever to take X-rays. Then sent my son down the hall for hygiene. Whatever that is. No explaination just down the hall. While my daughter did her X-rays. She need to get two spacers removed and was assured that it would be easy. And a student dentist would do it. I go to the room with my daughter to find my son in the chair getting his teeth cleaned. Had no idea they had even started. Now here's where the problem starts. I watched two employees try to find the right tools. In and out the room for 5 minutes. Trying to set up for this so called easy procedure. Novocain is administered and they start cleaning the teeth and doing the sealant. And after almost 20 minutes of work they thought they could pull my daughter teeth. She was in so much pain . I couldn't believe it considering she had such a easy time with the dentist the last visit. The finally get the spacer out and the tooth is still in. So they administer more novacain. For my daughter to still be in pain. She was supposed to get both done . But I assure you I will not be returning under no circumstances. She is now sleep and unable to go to school. I feel so bad cause I had a bad vibe from the moment I walked in the place. Oh not to mention the ladies doing the work touched several objects in the room with her exam gloves on. This place need help or retraining. So disappointed she will forever remember this experience. And I blame myself for not trusting my motherly instinct.

Reply from Children's Dental Services
Hi LaShaya, I am sorry that you had a bad experience during your daughter's visit at Children's Dental Services. We are not currently going through any remodeling at the Hennepin location but do schedule appointments at both our Broadway location and the Hennepin location, so I apologize for the confusion. We truly enjoy being in the Broadway location- our family neighbors and surrounding businesses are extremely reputable and very good neighbors. We pride ourselves in hiring diverse staff that represent the communities we serve and all of our staff add value to the overall experience here at Children's Dental Services. With regards to the proper tools and supplies- the dental assistants often communicate with the dental providers with regards to the appropriate tools and supplies for the patient as each procedure has its own set up and each patient is unique and that is likely what you observed. We pride ourselves as well in being a teaching clinic and all of our externs and interns are always supervised by our licensed providers- some of which have up to 20 years of patient experience in the field. Children can metabolize anesthetic much faster which can cause the need for more anesthetic to be administered during the procedure- our ultimate goal is to make sure all children feel comfortable during the procedure. Again, I apologize that your experience was less than the best and please let us know if there is anything we can do to assist you in the future. Thank you, CDS Management

We had a very positive experience overall. We were able to get into a cancelled appointment for a 60 minute restoration pretty quickly with calling on a regular basis for about a week. The staff were very calming and reassuring to my daughter throughout the procedure. They also have a very diverse staff that speaks lots of languages. My only complaint is that they don't do a regular cleaning every 6 months unless the child is over 7 or if it is very badly needed. It also felt very rushed with our initial appointment sort of like a dentist factory.

Reply from Children's Dental Services
Dear Elizabeth, Thank you for your review and I am happy that your overall experience was positive. We generally have children under 7 years old start with an examination to determine if there is a need for a cleaning. We often find that children under 7 do not need a regular cleaning like our patients over 7 years old. If you call in and request to have a cleaning with your examination, we can accommodate the request. The initial exams are usually quite brief with x-rays taken as needed, followed by a clinical exam. I apologize that it felt rushed for your initial exam and I will be sure to relay this to the clinical staff. We look forward to seeing you again here at Children's Dental Services!

I have been sitting here for almost an hour for my son to be taken back and all they have been calling back are the samolian kids that have came in after us. This is ridiculous!

Reply from Children's Dental Services
Hi Brittannie, We apologize that you have experienced a longer than normal wait time. Patients are scheduled to see one of many providers and so it is not unusual that a patient may be called back before another despite the time that they arrived in the clinic. Additionally, the providers take different amounts of time depending on the procedure needed so this can affect who is called back and when. Please inform the front desk if you have been waiting longer than 15 minutes and they will be sure to inform the clinic. Thank you, Children's Dental Services Management

Read whole review!! My son has yet to have his appt but Zoe helped register us even though she was super busy. She took the time to answer all my questions and make me feel appreciated. She is a rockstar! We'll see how his appt goes in 2 weeks. Since my last review, my son had one appt where they came up with a treatment plan for his teeth. I was told that if in that time my son needs a root canal that we would have to be referred out since that is not done at that location. Fast forward 2 weeks later, had to bring my son in for an emergency dental appt- they first use novacaine vs the laughing gas, which I was told would be used in his appts. 2nd I was informed that once a month they have some one come in to do root canals. While I still recommend this place, I think everyone has different information.

Dear Kate, Thank you for your feedback and we are sorry to hear about your experience at Children's Dental Services. The dentist can often be a scary experience for children, especially children that are experiencing mouth pain. We would be happy to offer a referral to a sedation clinic for your son or a referral to care under general anesthesia if the provider recommends this route. We are pleased to say that we will be renovating our clinical space beginning in the fall of 2016 and this will hopefully relieve some of the concerns you express above. I have been to dental offices in India, Mexico and Colombia and would rather take my daughters there than this place. I had an Asian dentist clean both of my daughters teeth plus remove 2 cavities on my older daughter in less than 10 minutes. Had to yell at the dentist several times to stop because the analgesic had not taken affect yet because they where in such a hurry. My guess is this how they treat Hispanics and other immigrants who cannot speak English well enough to defend their children or have them seen elsewhere. After speaking to others in the community learned that this organization has been sued several times without success by patients. Furthermore the place is dirty, dirty enough for me to maybe consider contacting a regulatory group at the city or state level. Will never take my children here again and will warn people about this place.

I took my grandson for his first dental appt.today. He is 6yrs.old. This clinic was so unprofessional. The woman who helped us didn't explain what she was doing. She told us about cavities and moved so quickly that I had to follow her around trying to understand. I have never done this before, rated someone publicly but I am so upset about this clinic I felt I had to tell people. I also called the clinic and told them about what happened.

I would never recommend them! The dentist we saw was rude and they wouldn't email my daughter's x-rays because apparently it takes 30 days to email them!... I feel that's there way of making you stay with them! I would rather pay to have new x-rays taken then to bring my daughter to them again!

Very unprofessional & organized! Waited over an hour past our appointment. It's very dirty.

Got a call from someone calling to confirm an appointment and when I told them I needed to reschedule, they ask why and I said I have an family emergency and I was told this would count as a fail and the next time they will put my kids names on a waiting list and when I ask why she hung up on me. I am so over this facility, they are not professional and you can never get through to anyone. They have all students running this place and they dont know what their doing!!!

Took my 7 year and had a decent experience. The staff was friendly and seems knowledgable. It might not be the high end but when I saw how busy it is, its hard to keep that place spotless clean especially being that its a community clinic. The wait time were a little longer though.

Filthy. The entire place was dirty and the kids were throwing blocks at the wall as hard as they could. No control.

Please read the entire review I leave!!! I brought my son in for a cleaning. We got to a location and he only got pictures taken of his teeth and told me I had to reschedule for a cleaning. I was not very happy!! The dentist then told me he had 3 cavities. He is extremely scared of the dentist. He is 7 years old and have never gotten him to sit in the chair. It took about 15 minutes to even sit in the chair for the pictures. I scheduled him a appointment to fill his cavities. I was expecting to have to reschedule the appointment because he has such an extreme fear. We got in the appointment and the dentist was so wonderful. She took her time and was so patient with my son! She truly has a gift to work with kids. She talked him through everything! We have been other places and they would not see my son because he has such a extreme fear of the dentist. She filled all 3 cavities, I thought they wouldn't be able to one. I would highly recommend this place for a apprehensive child. She took the fear out of going to the dentist for my child! I can only say thank you for your patience and kindness to my son. I am so grateful that dentist like her exist!

Hi Christina, We are so happy to hear about your experience with CDS! Our dentists love working with kids, we like to hear that your son’s experience with our staff was a positive one. Normally, we schedule exams and cleanings separately, as cleanings are not always necessary. But we are happy to complete both on the same day if you request us to do so at the time you make the appointment. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Both of my kids go to the clinic and they love it because the staff are such caring and professionals persons. It is very difficult schedule or reschedule an appointment if you try to do it by phone but in person it is great!.

Hi Emma, It is great to hear about your good experience with our clinicians! We are also pleased that you are getting great attention in person. We apologize that you have found it difficult to contact us via phone in the past. Please know that we do our best to answer all calls that come in, but sometimes we experience an extremely high volume of calls and cannot get to each one personally. In the future, if you would like to leave a message, we will return your call as promptly as possible. We look forward to seeing you soon!
