I’m super anxious about going to the dentist, but Dr. Barrett and his team exude so much kindness and confidence, that I actually look forward to my appointments and feel positive about my treatment plan. I also really appreciate the front office staff being quick to return calls, the reminder texts/emails, and that I didn’t have to wait two months for my first appointment. A gem of a place!

I'm so thrilled to have Dr. Barrett and his staff for my dental care! Dr. Barrett is SUCH a fabulous dentist! I have total confidence in his care! He proved himself to be honest and take a conservative approach on my first visit. I had a severe tooth pain and was sure I needed a root canal. He took a careful history, x-rays, and exam and said he was quite certain it was just an irritated nerve due to a couple things that could be easily remedied! No root canal! He was right and the pain went away in the time frame he thought it would! He also explains things really well and answers all my questions clearly and in a way that makes so much sense that all my concerns are alleviated. I got the best teeth cleaning I've ever had by his staff as well! I love that Dr. Barrett comes from a family of dentists. I think that just makes his knowledge, common sense, and interest in dentistry far above the norm. His secretary is also super friendly. The office is beautiful and it feels more like a nice hotel lobby in the waiting room! It's just a wonderful experience all around!

I love that he doesn't talk me into expensive dental work that is not necessary to be done... like so many other dentists do.

Changing dentists because of a change of health insurance made me very nervous. Dr Barrett and his team eased all those fears. They are all knowledgeable, patient, thorough, gentle and kind.

I'm nearly 70, so I've had a lot of Novocain shots by now. I just had one this morning from Dr. Barrett, and his technique was by far the gentlest I've ever had -- barely hurt at all while being administered. Both my wife and I really like our hygienist. Although forced by the pandemic to revert to manual tools (vs. the more modern power-washing method), her technique is as close to perfect as is humanly possible. Never any bleeding or accidental pokes, which have happened many times with other hygienists. And although today was my first filling from the dentist, it was my 4th or 5th cleaning (we became new patients last year), so that assessment has a solid data base behind it. And my wife has had one of their crowns that they make while-U-wait, right there in the office (total time about 2 hrs) and it actually fit better than either of her other two, both of which required her to return after a few days to have the temporary crown removed, which can be painful. Fantastic! If we could give them 6 or more stars, we would!

Dr. Barrett, his staff, Ms. Jen, Ms. Anilila are the professionals I've received help from but I'm sure anyone else working with this doctor must be linked in this chain of professionalism and courteousness. Insomuch that without a word being spoken, the environment introduces what you're going to feel like after you've your dental health needs met. I am so happy with my recent visit to Barrett Family Dental! I had not been to the dentist in nearly 5 years, since my other dentist retired. I was very nervous but Leslie made me feel so at ease while she took my x-rays and Annie is a wonderful hygienist! Jennifer and Abigail made scheduling and working with my insurance so easy. Dr. Barrett is so nice and has a great chairside manner. I am actually looking forward to going back to the dentist again!!!

This dentist will take good care of you. In fact they will take excellent care of you. The environment is very friendly and relaxing and the doctor is very gental and thorough. Plus they keep up with the latest technologies and practices to make the experience easier. You can have crown made IN OFFICE which is a huge plus- a two week process takes less than two hours and you only have to sit in the chair once for a crown! They are very good at communicating with you. Dr. Barrett and his staff are genuine and good people- it's obvious they care about their paitents and I can't recommend them enough.

I’ve been going to Doctor Barrett’s for years now, this family owned practice is the best around. Everyone is so friendly and they don’t guilt trip you if you’ve slacked on your hygienic habits. They simple educate you and I think that is valuable in a practice. Dr. Barrett is straight forward and friendly. Currently they reopened during the pandemic and are taking EXTRA measures to help keep their staff and patients safe. Been going here a few years so far, my partner and I both. They've always been perfectly professional as well as friendly and courteous. They've had a ew hygienests come and go over the couple years but none have ever been a problem and Dr. Barrett himself is very communicative and easy to work with. Never had a problem with scheduling or anything else, either. I mean it's the dentist so I can't say the services are enjoyable but they make an unpleasant necessity as good as it can be!

Dr Barrett called me today.. He accused me of making a fake profile to give him a bad review then he demanded I take it down or he will charge me $100. I could not believe the tone and accusations he was making. Here’s the story... I called 15 min before an appt, I had scheduled, to make sure that he takes my new insurance. He could not assure me that he takes my new dental insurance. He kept saying, “we take most Delta plans, we take most Delta plans” He couldn’t answer my question because his insurance lady was not in. So, I canceled because I did not feel comfortable with his answer. Couple weeks later, I get a $50 bill in the mail for a missed appt fee. I called and asked politely if they can waive my fee because the Dr could not give me factual information about my insurance. Lady over the phone said, with attitude “we will not waive the fee” I said, “ok, I was goin to make an appt but now I’d rather write a nasty review, I’m on my way” When I show up. They had a letter prepared saying, they have dismissed me as a patient, $50 fee waived, and if I do write a bad review, I will be charged $100 for 2 missed appts. One missed appt was from January lol I leave within 30 seconds of being there, happy because my fee is waived. Fast forward to today, I get a personal phone call from Dr. Barrett accusing me that I made a fake profile to write a bad review. Well, here’s your review. Thanks for making feel like a valued client.

I am very picky about letting anyone seeing my teeth, let alone trusting someone to work on them. I was very unconfident with my teeth because I did not take care of them as a child. I had multiple cavities and I was overall afraid. Dr Barrett was great in the process of making a plan to get my teeth taken care of and making me feel comfortable going to the dentist. The dentist explained every step in the procedure he has done and consistently checked on me to make sure I was comfortable or see if I needed a break. I have overall recieved great dental care from this dentist and would highly recommend him to anyone! I currently have more appointments with this dentist and am completely confident with anything he has recommended.

I was looking around for a dentist and many people recommended Barrett Family Dental. However I am very disappointed with them. A good friend of mine was treated very poorly and basically strong armed into not complaining about their office. This disappointed me and lead to this review. Please stay away from this office and their mafia like tactics. No one review of services should be silenced or bargained for?

Great Service without the guilt. When you know you need to get the tooth crowned but you're just not ready for whatever reason; they don't make you feel guilty for it and work with you to get it done when you're ready! Hygienist are so gentle, everyone is very friendly and professional! Best dental experience I've ever had!

I was so impressed with Barrett Family Dental. I needed an emergency appointment- I called them and had an appointment a few hours later. I had barely finished new patient paperwork when I was called back and received immediate attention. Not once did I sit and wait. The staff was helpful and concerned about my emotional and physical comfort from the moment I walked in their doors. I felt confident in the care provided and the recommendations offered. There was no pressure for extra services, absolutely no scare tactics or shaming that I have experienced in the past. I am actually looking forward to to getting my dental health back on track. I highly recommend this dental practice!

Dr Barrett is the kindest most caring dentist you will ever meet. He has gone above and beyond to help me. I've had several emergencies over the past few years and he comes into the office to help me every time. He came into the office today-Sunday Dec 23rd because my tooth chipped in the front. They are closed through the holidays and it is Sunday! He repaired my tooth quick and painlessly. I cant recommend Barrett Family Dental enough. You will be in great hands with perfect care. Dr. Barrett has given me hope again that I will one day soon have my smile and confidence back. I have had some awful experiences with previous dentists and them degrading me and what I had left of a self esteem, due to the condition of my mouth. Each time i would leave in tears terrified to go back ever again. Then I met Dr. Barrett. I first went to him about 3 or 4 years ago and immediately felt at peace. He is kind, patient, understanding but yet direct and to the point. He will do everything in his power to help you anyway he can. I still have a long road ahead of me but I know I will eventually get my self confidence back and I will have Dr. Barrett and his team to thank. He's truly been a blessing to me and my 3 kids. I purposely chose a specific insurance when my coverage changed in order to be able to stay with him. Him, his office, and his team are all absolutely amazing. You will not be disappointed.

I've been a patient of Dr. Barrett and his amazing hygienist for a few years now and it's been the best experience I've ever had with a dentist office! I am VERY sensitive when it comes to getting dental work done, but Dr. Barrett Won't stop until everything is just right! They are skilled, gentle and thorough. Dr. Barrett is an amazing Dentist! Very easy to schedule, and listens to you with any issues. My son had chipped his tooth and we told Dr. Barrett pictures were coming up, so he came in off hours to help him. Our entire family see him regularly and we highly recommend his services!

We have been going to Barrett Family Dental for years. Recently, after my son chipped his tooth at the playground, Dr. Barett was able to see him the same day and assess the situation. My son asked me to post this review and said he was higly satisfied with the service he received. ☺

Very nice and thorough dentist; he's very interested if you have any questions or concerns. The office is warm and inviting. Staff are friendly and welcoming.

I always get seen on time for my appointment, they are always nice. Dr. Barrett never does anything unless it has to be done, for example, he won’t do an expensive procedure just for the money. He will only do it if it needs to be done.

Lost a filling yesterday afternoon Barrett Family dental got me in today for the repair I am very Thankful for the professional courtesy. Dr. Barrett has an excellent chairside manor and is well versed in his art, his staff is a credit to his practice. I highly recommend Barrett Family Dental for anyone's Dental needs.

We had nothing but problem after problem with this dentist. Go else where if you want a dentist office that is professional and cares about their patients. As of today they lost of family as patients. They should be ashamed of the care or lack there of, that they provide.

I went in the staff is very unprofessional. I waited in the waiting room for 20 minutes before she decided to come back from her off topic conversation to get me into my appointment that was scheduled for the time I actually arrived at. Dr Barrett told me I had to redo all my fillings. He supposedly made me an appointment to have a tooth removed but when I showed up the appointment was for a root canal that I didn’t know about. The specialist said there is no reason to redo my fillings. I won’t go back to their office again.

I arrived on schedule and was called in without delay. The hygienist was friendly, efficient and painless compared to other outfits. I left the office with good instructions for dental care at home. I would definitely recommend this place.

I had never been to this dentist. But they got me in the day after I called them, with severe tooth pain. Dr. Barrett got the tooth out in that same appointment, and was able to give me another appointment only a week out, to get my full exam. The best part is, today (day after extraction), Dr Barrett personally called me to check on how my recovery is going! That's above and beyond, and I really liked it.

Prepare for a LONG. HONEST. THOROUGH. Review. First off - If you're curious why there are so many 5 star reviews, it's because on the receptionist counter there's a nice little flyer that reads "GIVE US A 5 STAR REVIEW ON YELP OR GOOGLE AND YOU COULD WIN A FREE SONICARE". Don't be fooled by the 5 stars, sadly I was so I'm sharing this to warn others... On to my experience: This was probably the worst experience with a Dentist I've ever had. I have to echo the complaints of many regarding my filling. It's been several months and I'm still experiencing pain/sensitivity and during the procedure I was injected with so much numbing agent, I lost sight in my eye. (That's totally normal he says). Keep in mind it was a bottom tooth, a top tooth I could understand. Additionally, I was told I need several crowns - like many others who reviewed. The final straw was when I asked to pay up front and they'd bill out insurance later (it's called Balance Billing). I knew what my insurance coverage was, and I knew they were over charging me. When I pushed the subject they said "that was the cost and once we run it through insurance we'll refund you the money". I waited about 3 weeks for the EOB from my insurance company, and sure enough, I was over charged nearly $100. I called to request my refund and the response was "We don't have the EOB yet, we'll refund you automatically as soon as we get that". 2 more weeks pass. I called again, she pulled up my account and said "oh yes, looks like we have a credit on the account, can you provide your CC number again so I can process the refund". So they lied about it being "automatic" and I wonder how many "credits" they have sitting out there. There are so many other Dentists in the Beaverton area, choose ANY of them over this place.

I avoid going to the dentist because of past experiences and pain. So when I found this place I was relieved. The staff is amazing, personal, and friendly. They have several options to make you feel comfortable. I never give reviews but highly recommend this practice if you've avoided going to the dentist for similar reasons. Dr Barrett's practice is phenomenal. Abigail is very nice and helpful at the front desk. I used to go to Gentle Dental, started having tooth problems there, and they were unable to address my concerns with a detailed plan. After switching insurances to the better dental plan (DO NOT choose a DMO), I was able to see Dr Barrett, and the staff made everything super easy. I am a very picky person when it comes to seeing a dentist. My teeth tend to be quite sensitive. Mariah, the dental hygienist, did a very thorough job of cleaning my teeth. Didn't feel rushed, she really took the time and did it right! Dr Barrett has a great personality, puts his clients first, and takes the time to listen and provide excellent feedback. He sincerely wants to get to know his patients personally. The office is very clean, and the location is so close to where I live (Bethany). Parking is not an issue, and I've never waited longer than a minute or two once I arrive. If you live in the Beaverton/Bethany/Hillsboro areas, and are looking for the best in service, health, and convenience when it comes to seeing a dentist; give Barrett Family Dental a try. It takes time to earn my trust. This is my first Google+ review, so that should tell you how great my experience has been during these past two years!

Dr. Barrett and his staff were excellent handling my 6 & 7yr old boys. My 6yr old didn't wanna hold still for the x-rays but the dental hygenist way quick and so patient with him. Excellent experience so far! Edit: Been coming here a year now and it's still the best!

I've never had a filling that hurt for a year before but from reading these reviews it seems this is the way Dr. Barrett does his fillings. I went back a couple of times and was told that "it was fine" regardless of the amount of pain I was experiencing. Now I have a dental emergency and can't get help from Dr. Barrett's office. A week is too long to go with a tooth infection and they expected I would go two weeks before they would extract it. Save yourself a lot of pain and go elsewhere!

My family and I have been patients of the Barrett Family Dental team since they opened. They are a great group of young professionals. They have always been very very good to us even when we haven’t always been very good to them. THANK YOU GUYS!!

A wonderful family dentist. Took the time to talk to me and answered my questions. Dr Barrett never made me feel like he was rushing, was very informative on my options. I feel like I finally found my Dentist. The lady that took my x-rays was very efficient...I did not have to hold a thing for her she is outstanding, making sure the x-rays were good. I told Dr. Barrett he needs to keep her happy as assistants that I have had contact with were never that outstanding. Thank you for making my experience awesome. I've been going to Dr. Barrett for about 5 years. Most of my visits consisted of cleanings and general inspections. I recently had 4 really old fillings removed and because there was not much tooth left on any of them, crowns had to be installed. I had them all done in one day and the procedure went off without a hitch. My only issue seemed to be a bite alignment with an older crown that had been put in about 7 years ago by another dentist. Once this alignment was performed, my bite is great and I have no other residual affects from the additional crowns. Great work. L.R. West Slope

Dr. Barrett & His Staff Are Super Friendly! Best Dentist Visits I've Had In A While :)

Worst dentist I have ever been to, we don't have the greatest insurance first off and he could not wait to get rid of me by pretty much saying he would do what he could but that I need crowns across the map and there were about $1,100 a piece!? He said I needed a new filling because my old one was loose and my tooth wasn't even hurting! Once he replaced the filling my tooth hurt so bad! I went back only for him to tell me that there was nothing he could do and like he previously stated "I needed a crown" His mannerisms are completely unprofessional, and in my personal opinion he is prejudiced against the less fortunate! I made an appointment for my husband to have his teeth cleaned and examined and they gave him all these fillings! He can't even stand the pain the fillings are now causing him. I didn't figure they would do much harm to him because he has fairly good teeth but his first visit they tell him the cavity is too big to repair and once again, "you need a crown"! RIDICULOUS! I have been to a project dental facility and Ohsu Dental School and they work harder to save your teeth than you think they would for what they get out of it. This guy is money hungry and only wants to help people that have means to PAY handsomely. FYI people if you have OHP don't go here! I will definitely be finding a dentist that actually cares!

I went into this office to get checked up and they found that i had few cavities. I was okay about them fixing them and was told that I may experience sensitivity with the fillings for a little while after the procedure. So far I have been having extreme sensitivity to hot and cold and can not even eat normal now. I have never had fillings before but was told from many of people including family that have been in the business of dentistry that I should not be going through the pain I am experiencing. I will not return to this office again.

I contacted Barrett Family Dental because my regular dentist could not fit me in for a dental emergency. I am so glad they couldn't! Dr. Barrett and his staff could not be nicer. They were able to get me in right away. I am a baby when it comes to dental work and Dr. Barrett was awesome! I have been to countless dentists in my - well quite a number of years and Dr. Barrett is by far the best. Everyone in the office is absolutely great. I will definitely continue with them. Highly recommend!

For starters Dr Barrett office is updated and very clean. I was promptly greeted with a smiling staff member. I had x-rays, an exam, cleaning. I was happy that they were able to fit all of that in within 2 hours. Dr. Barrett didn't just pop in and take a quick look and leave like others I have experienced in the past. He looked around and was very thorough. The personal touch goes a long way. He discussed any concerns I had, what I wanted in the future, and also what he recommended that I 'should' do. Not once did it seem as though any of them were pressuring me to buy something. Thank you! After everything was done they had everything broken down for me. What was covered by my ins. What wasn't Etc... It is always nice to know right away what it is going to cost to do the things I want to do in future visits before leaving. This gives me plenty of time to think about options, budget etc. Needless to say, I rescheduled my Root Canal visit with Dr Barrett and I was very pleased with his work. I Highly recommended his office.

I really loved it here, Dr. Barrett and his assistant are extremely friendly and genuine. I got eight fillings and he took the time to properly fill each tooth. If there was any pain or concerns I had, he would address the problem right away. As a matter of fact, he redid a filling on a difficult tooth twice to perfect the structure and my level comfort. Also, a big win for me is that he accepts OHP and treats people with low-income health care just like any other patient. I highly recommend going to him, because it is hard to find a dentist that is super caring and adamant about giving their clients the best possible treatment.

Take my warning and stay away. I allowed 4 fillings to be done, and all 4 were confirmed by a second dentist to be very poor. They were excruciatingly painful, and I'm still dealing with heavy pain even after the third repair, months after, by a second dentist. I love the staff, unfortunately the fillings have permanently damaged my teeth and I'm constantly in pain. I'm a reasonable guy who never leaves poor reviews, but this has turned into a nightmare. Please take my warning seriously..

For years I have dreaded going to the dentist. I would avoid it at all cost. Finally it came time for me to go as I couldn’t put it off any longer. When I came here I was instantly treated like a friend. They take the time to explain what they are doing, why they are doing it, and how to prevent it in the future. They always make sure I am comfortable and at ease before anything happens. I have more work to be done and will definitely be back, only reason I haven’t done so yet is I am up against my insurance cap.

Dr. Barrett is easy to talk with, honest and caring. Top shelf dental work and his staff are relaxing and friendly. Up front with billing, what insurance will cover and what it will not. They made sure I was comfortable, giving extra novocain. They are on time for appointments and attentive to concerns. Both times have been a pleasant experience.

Just like many people, I've always hated going to the dentist! I HATED it! I was really nervous coming in to the Barrett dental office because it had been almost 5yrs since i had visited the dentist. Well the moment i stepped in, i was greeted kindly and they really made me feel comfortable. Taking it back a bit...from the moment i called to set up my first appointment, the lady on the phone was so nice and comforting and understanding. Little did i know that she'd be the one working on me from then on. Lisa is the Absolute best hygienist! I LOVE her! She's so nice and caring, so easy to converse with, professional, intelligent and just an all around wonderful person. The dentist himself is also wonderful, very experienced and nice! I loved coming here for my check up and regular cleanings. I wish i could take them all with me where we are moving to :( They always made me want to come back again and again, and made me not hate the visits lol I actually liked going. Hope i can find a dentist office near as good as this one! p.s. just because i know that people somehow get paid to write reviews i add this: i was a customer, never paid or given anything to write this review. They truly are an awesome office

I love this office! I have always been terrified to go to the dentist, but not at this office. At my first filling appointment the doctor understood I was scared and made sure to walk me through the entire process. I actually felt numb for the first time during a filling and now this is the only dentist office I will go to. I just had a tooth break a few weeks ago and the doctor replaced it with a crown. It matches my teeth perfectly, I can't even tell it is fake. Dr. Barrett does amazing work. He is the kind of dentist you keep for life.

I had the worst experience. The service is horrible. Doctor acted like it was such an inconvenience for him to have me there. As soon as he finished filling my tooth he stood up and left without showing me his work or even asking me how am I. I had my filling done almost month ago and my tooth still hurt. It is so sensitive to cold and hot that I can not even eat on that side of my jaw. I am so scared that he completely screwed up my tooth. It even worse than it was before my visit. I hated everything about my visit. I would never recommend this doctor to anybody. I personally think that all the reviews that are written online are fake. Please people think twice before you go there if you do not want to end up like me.

Dr Barett does great work and the staff is very friendly I've had a bunch of work done there in the past few months and over all very pleased, I actually enjoy going to the dentist now.

I had an emergency (25-plus years-old implants at long last wore out). Dr. Barrett's office was able to schedule me on very short notice. His staff of assistants and clericals was courteous, friendly, and, most importantly, very capable. Dr. Barrett himself also was affable and very skillful. His staff even telephoned me to check on how I was doing, after having undergone quite a bit of dental work. I had not experienced this kind of follow-up from any other dental office before. Dr. Barrett's charges were more than reasonable to begin with, but he also wrote off, rather than charge me, for the amount not covered by my dental insurance policy. In sum, I could not have found a better dental office here (in Beaverton) or, for that matter, anywhere else I have ever lived (Washington, D.C., New York City, New Orleans, and Los Angeles). This is an A-plus, five-star operation by ANY measure.

I spent what felt like all day calling around to different offices trying to get in for a tooth that was causing me a great deal of pain. I couldn't eat or drink my mouth hurt so much. Dr Barrett and his staff advised me to come right over and they would get me in to be seen no matter what. While I was there Dr Barrett and his staff were kind, professional, and took care of me without ever once making me feel like I was a burden. I recommend them to all of my family and friends. And , I now have a dentist I feel like I can stay with long term.

Dr. Barrett and his staff were incredibly helpful and professional. He explained to me the work I needed done in a way I could understand. I usually don't like going to the dentist, but Barrett Family Dental made me feel very comfortable. I would highly recommend them.
