Be careful they have very little to not care for you safety as long as it suit there needs it's sad that I have to deal with this when it was a very simple thing to follow but could have been life or death do to neglect and not caring about the patient

I was airlifted here two years ago or so after a salicylate overdose. The providers at the smaller hospital I was transferred from weren't confident I would survive. I was barely conscious when I arrived at Abbott's ICU but I remember immediately feeling eased a bit. Dr Jacoby and the nurses were a rockstar team. They were able to clear everything from my body with intravenous fluids and catheterization within three days, avoiding dialysis which they warned may be necessary. No issues with the cath like infections or anything. There was also a very kind nursing student who stayed in my room when I needed around the clock supervision. And a really friendly male nurse transferred me to the psychiatric wing after, wish I could remember the names. The female adolescent psychologist in that department was amazing as well. Of course an inpatient mental health ward isn't the most comfortable space in any hospital, but at least the food options were very customizable and the activities were engaging. My only gripe is I wish there was more of a follow up physical check up before I was discharged from inpatient as my body still was having some GI issues.

4 years in the making. I also believe this hospital has no experience required to work with minorities...I came here related to car accident and the MRI LADY was rude stating that I could walk to the MRI station even though my leg hurt and had rib fracture..this is not new to me I would give them -5..they talk about training employees about diversity and accountability.. good luck with that..I believe some of the people that work here don't understand what they are doing.. look at the response people are getting back.

Dr. Peter Matthew Eckman needs to be FIRED immediately!!! I wrote a review several months ago, describing my horrible experience with him as my doctor. And he is STILL working at this hospital!!! Why?! I will NEVER EVER use Abbott Northwestern Hospital again, for my medical care needs.

From my new little family being created here, its been the life changing hospital that God has had as my home for the last 10 days! Also, the pllace of birth, for my companion and myselfs son to be born. The only complaint I haveis the communication....this is between the birthing center, and the medical-surgical and the postpartum unit and internal medicine was very poor as to COVID and what visitors I could have. I was told our son and my boyfriend and I could be together but didnt know me going to a different unit would be the rule breaker.. we wouldn't have transferred otherwise. We didnt't know these together but we ended up not being able to be in the same room and he had to go home and they did not have any money to afford to even get a lot of parking lot! The Abbott Northwestern Security Department DID make it right and they did pay for usto be able to get home on one of the particular days was very helpful ...but we wish we could have had so we could all been together as a family in the same room, but understand the rules why.

My grandpa fell and broke his hip over the weekend and is in post op recovery. My uncle flew in from Colorado but Abbot’s insane draconian policies won’t allow for any of us to visit him. He’s lonely. This is evil.

I would give Abbott negative five stars if I could. As per previous reviews poor communication. I asked my husband's doctor if we flew my daughter in from Arizona if she and I would be able to visit my husband in the hospital as he was in for heart issues, NOT COVID. Everybody has been vaccinated and I let him know this. We get to the visitor check in and an African american lady with attitude in the sky way check in says we can't both go in and I tell her that I had asked the doctor and he had said we could both visit. So she calls the security guard to stand by her making us feel like criminals. So my daughter stays in the lobby and I went up and we were going to switch off. I was not going to stay long because I wanted my daughter to have more time with my husband and the nurse in the room with my husband butts in to our private conversation and asks how old my daughter is and then says snottily -Oh she is old enough to be in the lobby for awhile you can stay longer-like it is any of his business. Then my daughter calls me while I am in the room and informs me that the African american lady told her she had to wait in the parking lot in below freezing weather and could NOT stay in the lobby waiting for me to come down. The sky way "lady" had a security guard make my daughter leave the lobby even though she was just sitting there playing games on her phone waiting for me to come back down. Seriously I would not send a dying dog to this hospital, staff is rude, uncaring and unprofessional. I will make sure to let everyone I know NOT to go to Abbott. I am thinking maybe I need to contact a lawyer at this point.

I had a family member in Abbott twice in the last few months. The communication in the Allina system is sub par. ALL of the frustrations and upset is due to lack of simple communication. It's not hard. Also if a family member is upset and looses their cool, it would be awesome if the charge nurse kept their calm and showed some compassion and professionalism. The upset was caused AGAIN by simple lack of communication. Nothing more or less. If staff doesn't want people upset then maybe try communicating changes , protocol that will affect what a patient and family has already been told. Doctors communicating changes in the chart with specific reasons why as well as taking the time to inform the patient. There is little to no acknowledgement that keeping a patient hospitalized unnecessarily is at a high cost not only economically for our family, insurance but also to a hospital that is in short supply of beds and staff. This is not the exception to care at this hospital, rather the rule

11/30/2021 From the moment I walked through the door with my wife (whom is suffering from chronic heart disease) we were pleasantly greeted, listened to, and within one minute brought into the emergency room. There, a team of doctors and nurse's came in, introduced themselves and made my wife and me feel very confident and comfortable. They seemed to work together like a well oiled machine, each there with a specific purpose, one specific narrative; the well being of their collective patient. Personally, having had 11 kidney stone operations over the past 30 years, whereas 6 or 7 were performed here at Abbott Northwestern, I can honestly say that the vibe here has remained the same from my first operation in nearly 29 yrs ago as it is today! The following day, after had been admitted into the hospital, I was once again met by the nurse and one of my wife's doctors. Both VERY pleasant, informative and helpful. Lastly, I was quite impressed that guests could order off the food menu for only $7.99 (at the time of this review) and have lunch with the patient. Of which I had a cheddar cheeseburger with fresh tomato, onions and pickles. Cottage cheese with fresh fruit. Unsweetened ice tea. Blueberry yogurt and some raspberry sherbet. I have to say, this certainly wasn't the hospital food of old that I remember... Great hospital, great staff, and some pretty darn tasty food. Sincerely impressed, Jimmy C.

I was a patient at this hospital and am considered a vulnerable adult because of my physical disabibilities. A nurse wanted to perform a simple but invasive test on me to which I refused. It is the right of any patient to refuse any procedure. This particular nurse refused to accept my refusal amd attempted to go ahead with this invasive procedure anyway. I kept telling her NO and to leave me alone but she started to fight me. She grabbed my wrists, grabbed and twisted my hands and arm such that my already sore arm and shoulder were reinjured and bruised. She even used a hard object she was holding to hit me. She grinned sadisticly saying I couldn't stop her. Now I fear seeking medical help. This nurse needs to be outed and fired; but she also needs to be brought up on charges.

Hung up on me when I asked if they had any available beds, told me they can't help me with that and that my local hospital would need to call them. 3 bad experiences with Allina hospitals within 24 hours including the one at Buffalo Hospital ER which made someone who was incoherent and 70% oxygen, which I believe is crisis level and can be fatal, sign in (including re-sign a couple of spots that they initialed) before they called the nurses for treatment!!! I had to coach them to scribble a line for their signature so they could get through the check-in process!! Inexcusable in my opinion!! An ambulance or deputy would've treated first before asking for the medical insurance card and then saying this one is old and we can't use it to bill can you give us a new one. I was adamant we needed an oxygen tank now but no call was made for the nurses to report they had someone there with low oxygen until they completed their check in process including asking about her medical insurance card. (I went on a police ride along years ago and we got a call about a person short of breath and we got there fast and he gave them oxygen right away.)

Worst Hospital Ever!!! I would rather die in agony than to go to this hospital. If you call a patient representative then you are even blown off when you tell them how it is. If you want to get a resolution you need to talk to administration and pray something gets done otherwise it's the same thing every time you go...and I was a CNA for 14 years..I worked in a PACU and we had repeat patients all the time...and we were informed the when a patient comes in and they have been there before, you are to treat them as if it is their first time everytime.exactly the same... your treated like dirt from the 1dt visit to the last!!!

Came here late one night with covid symptoms. Brought me back to triage right away, only to have me wait in the waiting room for more than two hours. I asked for a blanket, nothing. I went up to the desk to ask again and I got a look that could cut through glass. After sitting for another hour, watching people get discharged left and right, I asked why only two people have gone back. Sarah at the emergency front desk ignored my question and picked up her phone. I waiting and asked when she was finished. Her response was “We’re just so busy”. Mind you, I’ve seen five nurses hanging out behind the glass for about five minutes. I asked about the patients leaving and how that should mean more beds available, right? Her response was “I’m not going to discuss with you why no one is going back “. At that time, I called my ride and asked them to come get me. I’d rather suffer at home then step foot on this lot again. Disgusting.

I would rather die on my cold floor than come back here again!! The staff doesn’t inform you of anything that is happening or when it’s happening. They scheduled outpatient appointments without consulting me as to dates or times. I was always the last one to know about anything that was happening, zero communication with me as to what’s happening until it’s “oh we are going to do this now and if we don’t do it now it might be days”. Worst patient care I have ever felt with. Again I would rather die on my cold floor alone then ever come back

I have Sleep Apnea, which I went to Abbott to treatment for. The sleep study and everything was great, but then I realized after years of being price gouged for C-PAP replacement parts, that they were charging me over 500% of the market rate. I believe this is predatory, as most people would not even question it, and I only looked into it when I got a bill for over $1,000 for what turns out to be less than $200 worth of parts. Shameful.

Regarding Covid patients. Hospital will not allow use of therapeutics Regeneron, Remdesivir, or Ivermectin. It is not part of their standards of care. If you believe these to be helpful like many in the scientific community, don’t bring a loved one here. They offer nothing more than ventilators, sedatives, and antibiotics.

My brother went there for a bed sore and after several mistakes by staff he died. It was mistake after mistake. They didn't keep up with blood work and ended up murdering him at 40 years old. Said he died from complications of his car accident 22 years ago. Also on his death certificate it says things that never happened. So very disappointed that he was put through this. He passed away November 12, 2020. Please watch the staff and don't allow them to do what they did to my brother to your loved one. They should and have been asked to investigate is death but have not. I will continue to look for an attorney to help hold the hospital responsible for his death.

The customer service provided by the doctors and nurses at this hospital is below average. On numerous occasions, the nurses forgot to check in, to give my family member pain meds, resulting in him needing the more intense and fast acting meds to get things under control. Nobody is on the same page when it comes to treatments and next steps. One minute we were told surgery was on Wednesday at 12 and the next doctor came in and said surgery was on Thursday. It’s scary to leave the care of your loved one in the hands of such a disorganized hospital. I would recommend having your loved ones treated elsewhere.

First if all I would like to say thank you to all the great providers and nurses from the time my mother was in the ED at District 1 hospital to the time she was discharged from the Heart Institue at ANW.. The care was beyond great! What I was very disappointed in were the screening staff at the front entrance. We found that only 1 visitor was allowed to see her. Her spouse was already up there. The gal that interacted with us was quit rude had 0 personality and absolutely no compassion for 2 daughters that were very worried about their mother. This was the screening person sitting in the middle of 3. She was working day shift yesterday. The gal that was sitting on the right had her cell phone and using it the entire time we were standing there. My first impressions were very disappointing. They are suppose to be the face of ANW when you walk in. Allina advertises they have great compassion for the pts and visitors they serve. This was unacceptable and very unprofessional.

If you are elderly I'd go to another hospital. The physicians see you as old and unworthy, don't run any real diagnostics and try to push you into hospice. While the doctors should be actually performing diagnostics instead a stream of unnecessary and irrelevant people are sent in to bill for absolute nonsense in an effort to maximize the hospital's profits. Doctors with a "God" attitude cloak their RXs of narcotics as care and comfort when, in reality, they are being used to suppress breathing and hasten death. I would also question the infection control practices at this hospital. Not impressed in any way with this hospital or its doctors and will never recommend nor utilize this hospital again.

Been on hold for 33 minutes and counting to ask a simple question on cost estimates. your replayed message while i wait states you understand my time is valuable - no, i dont think you do. very frustrating and disappointing, yet not surprising given what i hear about how things are managed internally.

Doctor Larson and all the nurses are outstanding. My wife is a patient at Abbott dealing with covid and pneumonia and the care she is receiving warms my heart. I am so impressed with Dr. Larson and the personal very informative touch she provides during this difficult time is top quality. The nursing staff is so kind, understanding & caring. I am sure they are under a lot of stress during these times but they have not lost their love for the patients. Thank you so much!! ??

My hospital stay at Abbot Northwestern was last February. I've been meaning to write this review for months, but then a busy summer happened. I had shoulder replacement surgery. Everything about my stay went extremely well. Since at this point I've had quite a few hospital stays in a variety of hospitals, I'm basing this review on many hospital experiences. Check in, surgery prep, surgery, after surgery care, and check out all went like clockwork. The nursing care was great, and the student nurses were exceptional. Also the hospital food was a pleasant surprise. All this set me up for a good recovery. Thank you!

My father had a massive heart surgery and tested positive for covid plus has an aneurysm waiting for surgery. He isn't allowed visitors at all due to covid so he has no one there with him and there is no way for us to stay updated on how he is doing. My siblings and I called multiple times yesterday and his phone is never answered in his room and when we request the nurses station his nurse is always gone, busy, or on break. They take our numbers to call back multiple times and never do.

Misdiagnosed several times. Would not rely on them for diagnostics. Nurses are great but the physicians are not the best. Definition of insanity trying the same thing over and over again and getting the same result. Went to Mayo and they got it right the first time.

My 13 yo son had a mental health crisis. We went to Abbott ER. While in holding, He attacked me continuously and no One came to help although I told them and left the door open. Dr Diana Pandey refused admit to get a bed and I left primarily trying to protect myself and getting him out of the facility With a little but a prescription. When we got home he had to continue to agress And hit at the area of his head that was in pain and now he’s bleeding all over. I was primarily told that suicide ideology was more important than our health And his suffering.

My provider is great, my care is great, but charging a facility fee that's more than half what my provider charges on virtual video visits (mandated by the clinic and the state due to COVID-19) is completely outrageous. I'm not even in your facility and neither is the provider who is working from home. This is completely corrupt and totally unethical. Complete garbage.

I was seen here for a minor problem that required a physician assistant to do a minor procedure. They were in and out in a couple minutes. Bill for provider: $1900. So apparently Abbott ERs providers are worth 950 dollars a minute. This is price gouging. It is illegal. I intend to report them to the organization that regulates them.

My father had a partial hip replacement yesterday. We were told the doctor would be in before the surgery - didn’t happen. We were told the doctor would be in after the surgery - no one told us the surgery was over, and the doctor disappeared. Worse of all, he was given no pain medication after the doctor finished drilling a hole in my fathers’ femur, and cementing a reamer in there. The jagged edges of reamors are incredibly painful. When we complained to the nurse, the doctor did not respond to emails or pages. They ran my father through a surgery factory and did not respect him as a human-being. It was a total fail on upholding the mission of Abbott Northwestern: “We serve our communities by providing exceptional care, as we prevent illness, restore health and provide comfort to all who entrust us with their care.” My father has not gotten exceptional care, they have not prevented illness (won’t even go into that but it’s a good thing I recognized a clot when I see one), the restoration of health remains to be seen, and no pain meds after surgery and no food for two days before because the ortho docs can't get it together - definitely not providing comfort. You can be sure the Joint Commission will hear from me before the next review of Abbott. Complete irresponsibility on the part of the doctor and the hospital.

I am currently an inpatient at Abbott. I had to have a section of my lung removed because I am fighting cancer. There have been very minimal hiccups but I would suggest that if you are given a chance to choose your hospital..choose Abbott. The staff has been so very good to me and I am admittedly a difficult patient. Not because I am uncooperative, because I'm scared...terrified to be exact and if made uncomfortable I won't let anyone touch me. It's a horrible side effect of a an abusive situation that I still suffer from PTSD. The nurses and doctors were great with helping me through my issues... I am resting as comfortably as possible and not rushing to get out of here like I had at hospitals in the past. THANK YOU ABBOTT!!! TRULY, THANK YOU!!!! Oh and the good is pretty darn good too ??

This is by far the best hospital in the entire state as far as I'm concerned. It is very clean and the entire staff is awesome and the doctors are very professional and thorough and so are the nurses. The emergency section where I went on four different occasions is one of the best in the country and so is the hospital.

Absolutely the BEST! My pre op nurse,Jean was awesome as was Michelle! Post op nurses were also awesome! The nurses I had for my short stay were helpful and caring, I'm sorry I can't remember their names... Abbott Hospital has always been a great place to go when needed, but this stay was perfect from start to finish. Sending much love to all of them!

Dr Chong saved my life. I came to their emergency room with stomach pain and Dr Chong, who fortunately was on call then, eamined me and decided to operate right away, without knowing what she would find. She found a very dangerous optuator hernia, which I found in reading is very hard to diagnose, must be operated on immeditely and has a 60% mortality. She operated even though my physician sons considered I should wait it out. What a mistake that would have been - Dr Cong saved my life.
